Fantastic hotel, with lovely helpful staff. Its in a great location, only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Hoi An, and a 10 minute drive to the nearest beach. Its a beautiful hotel, inside and out, with very nice rooms & large comfy beds. Great breakfast. The particular highlight was the roof top bar with the swimming pool. Perfect place to go for some sunset drinks and after dinner drinks. I would definitely stay there again when we go back to visit Hoi An.

Hotel's Favourite
Lovely, classic hotel for the ultimate relaxation getaway. This hotel is super stylish and the decor is simply beautiful with lots of special touches. I especially loved all the B&W framed photos on the walls of historical Hoi An. The service is excellent, the rooms well appointed. We made use of the gym, the two pools, the spa ( for massages & pedicure) … a special mention to Ann on the spa team for great service. The complimentary morning breakfasts in the dinning room were delicious with very wide choice of local and western foods, including Vegemite! Centrally located with easy access to the old town. All-in-all a great stay experience and we would stay here again without hesitation.

Pros 1.The room we booked looked exactly as expected. 2.Bell man Anh was very nice and welcoming Cons 1. Staff aren't at all welcoming, the check in process was a joke. They ask you to provide a 1million dong guarantee per night you are staying with them, when we pressed them what this guarantee was for the concierge staff member could not clearly explain to us, also i was annoyed as they never disclosed this fee when we initially booked them. Do yourself a favour if they ask for your card just say no thats what we did. 2. The buffet was decent but the lunch and dinner menu was not appealing. I would recommend eating out as there are some amazing resturants that offer a better price and more variety. 3. The bidet in our room was leaking when we raised it with the hotel staff they repaired it quickly but still not the best experience. 4. When we were checking out the process felt transactional, the staff again did not smile and it just felt like below par. 5. The rooftop pool in the day, felt like a wasted opportunity. No music, no staff to provide refreshments. 6. The gym was very basic, we would have like if they had water bottles instead of the water cooler which looks like it doesn't get Changed often. Overall Hotel Royal made us feel like all they cared about was taking our service but outside of that the experience felt cold, staff need to be better at the basics of greeting and making people feel guests not just room fillers.

Response from Hotel Royal Hoi An, Other at Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery
Responded 1 week ago
Dear Compass52761437990, Warm greetings from Hoi An and Hotel Royal, May I begin by saying how sorry I was to learn that your recent stay with us did not live up to your expectations as we have a duty to ensure that as an MGallery property, every guest who walks through our doors has a memorable and enjoyable experience. There appear to be several instances where there was a lapse in our service standards for which I would like to genuinely and sincerely apologize. Thank you for reviewing the Pro and Cons of your recent stay with us. I’d like to take this opportunity to reply to each point as you have reviewed as a Pro & Con. Pros: 1. We are pleased to review that your Grand Deluxe Room in our Wakaku building was as expected from your initial time of booking 2. Thank you for recognizing the high level of service and engagement that you received from Mr. Anh - our Bellman Captain. Cons: 1. I apologize that your check-in procedure was not welcoming or personalized. Our desire is that all guests are made to feel welcome and attended to, to the highest level from the time they arrive with us. You are correct when commenting that we request a 1 million Vietnam dong deposit/credit card pre-authorization per night of stay to guarantee and allow our guests the convenience of charging all hotel services consumed during their stay, directly back to their room without having to pay at the time of each transaction. This request on check-in for a nominal amount per day to cover charges from hotel services, is widely undertaken by all hotels in Viet Nam and an operational requirement directed by ACCOR Hotels. 2. Thank you for your constructive feedback about our current lunch & dinner menu. We attempt to have a universally appealing range of food items to cover all hours of the day & to the broad variety of tastes. Our prices for many of our menu items are competitive with restaurants of equal standing within the local area. Our menu content does offer both Vietnamese and International food items for all day dining. 3. It is my understanding that your raised maintenance issue with the bidet water shower was repaired immediately upon you advising Reception. We attempt to keep all of our hotel facilities in the highest working and maintained order, however in some instances small faults do occur between reservation check in’s and out’s and they only become known at the time of reporting. I am pleased to read that the repair was carried out promptly for you. 4. We have taken on-board your comment regarding your check out experience and we will re-visit with the team to ensure that like check-in, they are aware that the farewell experience should be as friendly and personalized. 5. I apologize that there was an oversight in our food & beverage service at the rooftop pool. This service shortfall has been communicated to the department manager for awareness and follow-up. Your feedback about some level of background music has been actioned immediately. 6. We have only recently re-located our gym/fitness facilities to the ground floor space adjacent to the courtyard swimming pool. This new location has tripled in size to what it was originally. Our initial goal with this transferring of location, was to provide a much more spacious and comfortable facility for our guests to exercise in. This has been achieved with this relocation and we are now making plans to progressively increase the amount of equipment over the next 6-9 months to further improve and enhance this service. I have personally inspected the water cooling dispensing machine that we have in the gym with the available paper cups, which is in a clean & fully operational condition. I would like to end by thanking you for praising the aspects of your stay which you enjoyed and deeply regret those which did not meet your expectations thus causing you to award us an “average” score on TripAdvisor. I hope my reply reassures you that as the General Manager of Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery I am truely dedicated in taking concrete action regarding the feedback we receive and do not simply pay “lip service” to our valued guests’ comments as I would like nothing better than by having the chance to welcome you again to experience the true meaning of a memorable Hotel Royal Hoi An sojourn. Kind regards, STUART MURPHY General Manager

This hotel exceeded our expections during our Vietnam trip of 2 wks . It has its own style. Entrance is from an inner street though the hotel is on main road oppo the river. One gate is on the main road also with an ATM outside. As you enter the the town this is perhaps the first big building on the main road. No issue on any count. Room quite good, big with a small balcony facing the river. During our two nights stay it rained continuously during daytime but cleared in the evening. That in a way helped us in having a look at the property and click some pics of the property. And main touristy activity like boating, night market all are worth seeing at night only. Staff are good , helpful. The girl at the reception guided us. She speaks good english. She is local , so knows the area. We did our shopping as per her guidance and it was really good. BF is good. All girls are helpful. We like to have something freshly prepared. Being vegetarian that is a problem sometimes. But they prepared noodle soup for us.. That was enough. So many thanks.

Our room had a balcony that looked over the riverfront. It was beautiful. The staff was courteous and very welcoming. The breakfast was outstanding with eggs Benedict as an option and it was the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The options for breakfast were of a 5 star restaurant. Delicious! And the hotel is luxurious and beautiful. Overall highly recommend this hotel. 5 stars on all categories!!

Myself and my daughter stayed for 5 nights and had an extra ordinary experience at this hotel. We stayed in room 619 which was spacious beautifully decorated with lovely comfortable beds. The breakfast was lovely and appetising with a wide variety to choose from. All the waiting staff were attentive and very friendly. We made use of the 2 swimming pools and the spa. I can honestly say the staff were amazing. I had an accident outside of the hotel and the hotel staff went above and beyond to help me. The duty manager accompanied me to the hospital and made sure I was properly taken care off. The attention I received from all members of staff was truly humbling and I am truly grateful. Myself and my daughter would highly recommended this hotel.

Great location by the Thu Bon River, which is all lit up at night. Great roof terrace bar with super views of the area. Good cuisine and accommodation was as expected of a five star hotel. There was a great laundry facility available across the road and plenty of bespoke tailors in the area.

A poorly designed and managed hotel - the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor’s voices and their TV. The bathroom has semitransparent walls visible in the bedroom. Our air conditioning didn’t work on arrival till a mechanic came. There is a lovely pool but no visible service provided at the pool. A limited mini bar in room, made worse as no snacks - you have to call a number to get these. We called room service four times before getting through to anyone to take an order just for Pringles! To get coffee at breakfast you have to get someone’s attention to order one small cup at a time. What’s wrong with a pot or we help ourselves? The hotel is in total contrast to the well run hotels and boats we’ve stayed in elsewhere in Vietnam.

Response from Hotel Royal Hoi An, Other at Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery
Responded 2 weeks ago
Dear simonskevin0, Warm greetings from Hotel Royal Hoi An – MGallery. May I begin by offering my profound apologies regarding the issues you encountered during your recent stay which led you to award us a below average score, as I wish only that our guests leave us having enjoyed a completely satisfactory Hotel Royal Hoi An experience. There appear to be several instances where there was a lapse in our service standards for which I would like to genuinely and sincerely apologize. These service shortfalls have been brought to the attention of the respective department Manager’s to ensure they do not occur again. The hotel mini-bar does stock and provide a small quantity of soft drinks, bottled water and a local beer. This current offering in our mini-bars has been established as previously, a more extensive offering and stocking in both snack and beverages resulted in minimal sales. A full beverage list has been made available via In-Room Dining and listed in each guest room. The inconvenience you experienced with attempting to order the listed Pringles is not acceptable and will be followed up for immediate improvement. Your comments on the design of the rooms and experienced noise interference have been noted and management is working on some possible solutions to minimize some aspects you have mentioned. You are correct in reviewing that the bathrooms in our Wakaku rooms do have a frosted glass finish on the glass walls that enclose the shower and toilet facilities in the rooms, however the bathroom area is able to be screened off with privacy floor to ceiling curtains that enclose the whole bathroom space of these rooms. Our attention to service at breakfast on the two mornings that you were staying with us, were below our usual standard and I apologize for the delays you experienced in being able to order and receive your coffee. As an MGallery Hotel, our standard for coffee service at breakfast is table service with espresso made coffees of choice. We do have a self-service espresso machine available as part of the buffet offering, for guests to be able to make their own required coffee should they wish. All points aside, your comments have been taken on-board for full improvement and particularly on occasions when we have a high concentration of guests at one time descending on the restaurant for breakfast. May I end by thanking you for your constructive review and feedback and ensure that we have sincerely taken onboard all points raised for immediate rectification and further development of solutions. Kind regards, STUART MURPHY General Manager

My stay at the Royal Hoi An MGallery Hotel was fantastic. The location is perfect, with stunning river and town views and a short walk to the ancient town. The room was spacious and spotless, and the staff were attentive and polite. Breakfast was decent, and there's a great massage parlor nearby. A top choice for a Hoi An visit!

Very central location. Although this was one of the larger hotels so far into our vacation in Vietnam, it was very clean, friendly and welcoming staff and great facilities. The breakfast was unreal, I don't think we did justice to the variety of foods on offer!
