I recently stayed overnight at the chequers inn. The room was in a noisy location, and it was extremely difficult to sleep. I eventually called and they said they didn't have another room, and also responded with 'if you book next time, you should request a quiet room as we have rooms at the back of the hotel that are... We have visited this restaurant here a few times, but the last time, a couple if years ago, we were very disappointed. We thought we'd give it another try for a birthday lunch. It was much better. The restaurant has been re-vamped and is now modern, light and airy. Food was better than last time.

Visited on a Monday night for dinner, normally that would be asking for trouble, immediately after the post-weekend rush, but I'm glad to say they had everything on the menu and the food was beautifully prepared and presented. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere surprisingly modern for such and old building. I believe the interior has recently been... More

We popped in after a walk around Cliveden. We wanted a simple lunch and a drink. The restaurant/bar was busy and our friends had a puppy with them so we had to sit outside, which was fine as it was a nice sunny afternoon. There had been a shower or two before we arrived and the chairs in the garden... More

Hotel and pub welcoming and very pictutesque...although shame the old garden is now being developed with an extension to the hotel. Our room was modern and well equipped but very expensive for what we got. We had dinner in the main restaraunt. Menu looked good however food was bland and tasteless...very disappointing especially when the steak cost £26 ....overpriced and... More

We stayed for just 1 night and had drinks in the bar. The bar was very lovely and cosy and the menu did look very appealing indeed - however we didn't have time to order anything. The team were very friendly and helpful as we needed to arrange a taxi also. The room was nice although did look out on... More

We had a lovely family meal here on a Saturday evening. I have not been to The Chequers for many years and was amazed at the transformation. The pub was busy with people eating and the menu and food looked excellent. I was pleased to see that they served sandwiches in the pub all day everyday (filed that information for... More

The rooms are attached to what seems to be a popular local pub. We did not dine as we were a late arrival on the way elsewhere, but the breakfast the following morning was perfectly nice. The rooms themselves were clean and well maintained. Service was friendly and accommodating from all those we encountered. The inn itself is less than... More

I have stayed here many times and it's been a good experience every time. A very nice change to the ordinary business hotel... It an old Inn with a very cosy pub, a restaurant with excellent food - a true "gastro pub". Staff are friendly, and rooms are clean and both modern and truly "old Britihish charming" (you will understand... More

Pleasant hotel with helpful staff. Rooms are reasonably smart if a little on the small side. Bathroom has full size bath and powerful shower however the sink taps operate the wrong way and you end up getting a soaking! We booked all the rooms and thought we might get a discount ...... no such luck!
