We stayed in the Brae Guest Suites last night after lunch in the restaurant. The suites are beautifully appointed and a delight to stay in. The experience is not cheap however well worth it for a special occasion and a much better option than driving home after the meal. We had a lovely walk around the gardens in the morning before breakfast. The breakfast provisions are plentiful and also delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the vinyl collection with many choices from our distant past!

If you ignore the price you're paying for a room this is one cool hotel. Eco friendly but still luxurious and with all that you'll need for your stay at Brae. Room is well appointed and perfectly suited to staying and dining, especially on a cold wet winter's night. Included is plenty of snacks and a continental breakfast (read cold). An extensive mini bar is also available at moderate to expensive prices. Great selection of records are available for use and the views, especially from the bath are amazing.

Expensive yes, but how can you enjoy lunch and / or dinner at Brae and then rush back to Melbourne or wherever. Beautifully designed studios, spacious and comfortable. Although the thought of an evening supper in the room sounds enticing, we had so much food for lunch that the food delivered at night was wasted.
Although it's not a cooked breakfast, the tray delvered in the early morning is very generous.
Only niggle was that the suggested tv channles did not work, clearly Foxtel is a challenge

Bottom Line - the Brae Guest Suites would have to be about the best accommodation I have stayed in anywhere in the world, but...

The suite is simply stunning. The interior design is very cleverly done, with windows in the right place, electric blinds, flow through louvre windows, a huge bathroom with a bathtub that looks out over the local paddocks, and breakfast included.

They have thought of everything, with boots in the cupboard so you can go exploring, a record player and an eclectic mix of records, the best quality amenities, and nibbles to have on the front porch. But...

Go for a walk in the vegetable patch, and soak up the sense of peace. Marvel at the gardens, and enjoy the sunset with a cocktail you have mixed, using a recipe from the several cocktail books provided. But...

But the price. $890 for a night in country Victoria? At $590 you would wince a little, but be glad you stayed. But at almost $900 for a night, combined with the cocktail you have mixed and paid handsomely for, and dinner at the restaurant, you are looking at a $2,000 night out.

Is it worth it? Well, you need to be online early in the morning, 3 months before you plan to go if you want a weekend night, and even then you may miss out. With demand like that, I guess they can charge what they want.

Next time though, I'll stay at a beautiful B&B in town, and even after a taxi ride will still save $600...

For 750 dollars, i would have expected a lot more than what was offered. Plenty of gadgets, but for an overnight stay, fell well short of what was shown in the hotel photos.people need to check out what is and what is not included.

We stayed the night and went for dinner at Brae. The suite was well-appointed with lots of additional extras (at extra cost) for those who like to mix their own cocktails or enjoy a bottle of wine before dinner. The breakfast provisions were interesting with plenty of variety and choice, the bed comfortable, the view very nice and the overall 'feel' of the suite very welcoming. It's not cheap but, if you're going to dine at Brae, it's well worth staying the night afterwards and it also gives you a chance to explore the property and produce garden before dinner to work up an appetite.

We booked this to complement our lunch degustation experience at Brae Restaurant. We were not disappointed. Everything we could possible want or need had been thought of in this stunning accommodation. We were ushered to our suite by the restaurant staff following our amazing lunch (see separate review). Decor is very contemporary but cosy and inviting. Timber, brick and slate have been used throughout with high end soft furnishings adding that cosy element. The king size bed was so comfortable with a choice of several pillows, which we appreciated. Best of all was the skylight above the bed just perfect for stargazing. We ordered a sharing plate for supper, however after our lunch we could not do it justice at all, which was a shame considering the array of food provided. Breakfast the next morning was home baked bread, preserves, muesli, yogurt etc. A lovely touch was the bag outside our door with fresh baked pastries and the newspaper. Bathroom amenities were Aesop and the rain shower was gorgeous. Also of note was the record player and a good selection of vinyl that we enjoyed listening to during the evening. This accommodation was totally worth the price and I can only recommend it to anyone with an occasion to celebrate. Thanks for the experience!

We booked the restaurant for lunch and a room for our anniversary and we are so glad we did as our room was much appreciated after a long drive and a wonderful meal with matching wines.
The spacious eco-friendly designed studio hubs are very comfortable and are equipped with all that you need for a one night stay. We liked the charming yet down to earth interiors which consist of retro-style décor such as a record player, artisanal liquors, food books and more. The trendy architecture can be seen both inside and outside and can be described as a retrofitted-warehouse-look with exposed beams, cathedral ceilings, eco-friendly timber, and cool stargazing skylight above your bed. Everything is well designed, high quality and the bathroom was immaculate.
We were tempted with the optional supper but decided instead to bring along a small cold snack of our own. Our room had a fully equipped kitchenette minus a stovetop & microwave but we were really surprised that there was quite a lot provided in terms of snacks, juice, milk, coffee biscuits and condiments that were included (even Vegan catered) and these were all high quality and artisanal which was really good value.
There is a true farm to plate food philosophy in practice, one minute you’re walking around their garden looking at their vast array of veggies and the next you see the vegetables on your plate used in your meal. They truly respect the produce in terms of preparation and cooking and I was fully catered for as a vegan and the fact that it is farm to table organic produce made it even more special.
The best part is sitting out the back terrace watching the sunset and looking at all the sheep! And also the special delivery of pastries and the newspaper the next morning when you open the door.
The price didn’t faze us as it is clearly stated on the website. The room and the grounds are one of a kind. The price of the accommodation matched the quality of the lunch we were not looking for budget but quality experience and found it. The staff members were all really friendly.

We stayed in the beautiful guest suites on a Saturday night and couldn’t be happier with our stay.
This place is cleverly designed to be an intimate and luxurious retreat that you will only want to leave to either eat at Brae restaurant, or walk around the grounds (Hunter gumboots and umbrellas/torch provided). Don’t forget your room key!
Every need is catered for, from gorgeous full sized Aesop toiletries and cocktail supplies, through to record player and even breakfast the next morning. You will not go hungry or thirsty here. All food is included in the price although beverages charged separately.
The location adjacent to Birregurra cemetery was poignant- a contrast from modern luxury to pioneer life. A 3 year-old’s grave was particularly touching, iron work marking out the shape of a crib around the site. Of note no access from Brae site despite the close proximity.
Smugness factor increased when the lunch guests departed, we had the place pretty much to ourselves and explored the grounds extensively. I’ve never seen glossier chickens or buzzier bees! Overnight the staff also depart making the sense of privacy increase again.
Furnishing items are available for sale including the leather fly-swat, bed cushions, crockery and even the coffee plunger. Guests are reminded politely not to remove items from the cabin, tempting as it might be!
Black-out blinds and latex pillows facilitate a sound sleep, but don’t forget to peek out from the bed through the skylight to enjoy the stars, it’s a clever touch.
Breakfast is a luxurious and decadent experience with most items already in the room, with the promise of a fresh pastry being delivered by the chef before 8am next morning, along with the newspaper. This is hung silently on a hook by the door so as not to disturb.
Hot toast, coffee, fresh juice, meats, cheese, avocado, pickle, jam, honey, muesli, yogurt and rhubarb are all sure to delight. I had to leave most of this to my partner as i was still stuffed from dinner the night before but the beetroot based juice and St Ali coffee were amazing...I think this was the most memorable coffee I have ever had and will hunt it down in Melbourne.
Stunning views and clever planting rounded off the experience. Eco touches were welcome, including recycling bin and compostable toilets.
Silent checkout at 11am simply meant shutting the door and loading up the car. Don’t forget to explore Birregurra and Forrest townships. Lake Elizabeth is a stunning bush walk to work off the calories!
If you are eating at Brae, you have to stay here. It puts the whole experience in context and is not to be missed.

Having waited a couple of years to stay and eat at this highly acclaimed restaurant, one's expectations were considerable. It is truly a wonderful dining experience! Situated in an understated picturesque part of Victoria, the restaurant is an elegant large room where we sat opposite the dynamic calm kitchen. Each autumnal dish was extraordinary and the service impeccable. Our large room, where we lay our weary heads after an epic lunch, overlooked a piece of Australiana with the requisite sheep grazing in a distant field, contrasting with the graffitied interior wall and record player which allowed, we baby boomers to enjoy Fleetwood Mac and Miles Davis. We refrained from the whiskies! A delightful small breakfast tray with fresh pastries and other goodies was provided next morning. Not far from Melbourne, this is an unpretentious gastronomic temple with the wait and drive!
