I started coming to the Bunya mountains with my family as a child 30 years ago and now we are lucky enough to bring our own children here. It’s such a beautiful peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. We love exploring and going on bush walks. The children love looking out for possums at night and feeding the rosellas and king parrots during the day. Lochanbar is a beautiful house. Cosy and very thoughtfully equipped (board games, night lights, soft toys for the kids etc). Heating / air conditioning. Large water drinking dishes next to the house for the animals in dry weather. Close to the forest, bush walks, cafe and store. We love this house. Will definitely return.
It’s a great 3br well~appointed house in a good location about 500m from the tavern, store and cafe. The rooms were spacious with ensuite, however the downstairs bedroom was extremely cold as it had no reverse cycle aircon or heating. Kitchen was good with good supplies of crockery, cutlery, cooking appliances and large deck with BBQ. The lack of a washing machine didn’t affect us but might prove a disadvantage to families with children. Plenty of friendly wildlife and lots of chopped wood to keep the log fire burning. Would stay there again if we went back. Hotel questions below not applicable as this is a holiday house.
Mum and I stayed at Mountain Escape for three nights in August. The nights were cold and the days were cool. The wood fire was wonderful to light at night, the views from the sunroom were spectacular, and we enjoyed all the lovely walks. It’s just a short walk up to the cafe and tavern, where if you’re lucky you might also get to feed some king parrots, rosellas, and wallabies. We had wallabies, cockatoos, king parrots, and crimson rosellas visit our back door daily. The house is very well equipped, especially with cooking utensils and crockery. I look forward to coming back again, hopefully soon.
Stayed 3 nights from Sunday 25th July to Wednesday 28th July in Unit 4 Rainbow Lorikeet. We choose this particular house because it had air con in two bedrooms upstairs which we knew we'd need at night. The outdoor units are mounted on the roof and one was so noisy, we had to turn it off at night so we could sleep. The house is attached to another house (mirror image) and unfortunately we could hear noises from the occupants in that house, obviously they didn't care they were disturbing their neighbours. Other than that the house was very comfortable and had everything we needed but then at $200.00 per night you would hope so. Next time we will plan and book further in advance to get a better choice at a more reasonable price.
We stayed at Eden (LOT 25 LILLYPILLY PLACE ) for 3 nights in June. Everything was all right except our stay in the house was freezing cold because the wood chopper was so blunt to split any firewood log. I had split wood logs many times before without any problem; I spent ~20 minutes trying to split a wood log until my hand was hurt from chopping! As a result, I was not able to get enough firewood to get the fire going, and it was an extremely freezing cold 1st night, despite having the heater on, which was not really heating as I could not feel the heat at all. Only on 3rd day I found to make the air-con heater to work, you need to restart the air-con. I informed the management the next day, and was told owner would be contacted to supply smaller firewood. No smaller firewood or chopper was supplied, which was disappointing. Also, the gas-bottle for the BBQ was empty when we tried to BBQ, which forced us to cook using the cooktop causing the fire-alarm to trigger as there is no exhaust-fan. We had to open all windows and door to allow cold air in for ventilation in already a cold house!!! The ash bin was never empty; it was full to the brim. Definitely not a good experience, and will not be back.…
