We enjoyed our recent stay at Rices Log Cabins .
We found the cabin very clean and warm and cosy at night ,with the pot
Belly stove going . Very comfortable bed ensuring a good nights sleep.
The grounds are well kept , and wildlife can be spotted around the cabins.
Visitors will need to take everything with them if eating in ,including salt ,pepper ,paper towels etc as non is supplied.
There is a small amount of tea and coffee and there was milk in the fridge .
The owner was very friendly and helpful on the couple of times we needed to phone her.
A very peaceful and enjoyable visit .

Cabin #3 for a couple was simply furnished with a welcoming wood fire. It has a well stocked kitchen with utensils, IKEA china and cutlery., pots and pans. The location is quiet ( children’s laughter an added bonus). The down side was the BBQ control knobs were non functional leaving cooking to be operated from gas bottle connection. Also it was incredibly difficult to clean BBQ grill plate without a brush and not being able to fit it into sink. A rug under coffee table would add some comfort. As we are from Victoria we found it strange not to have linen provided! Thankfully our Brisbane friends were accommodating.

Stayed two nights midweek in Cabin 2. Perfect location, cabin was extremely clean and well maintained. Everything worked perfectly, hot water, great BBQ, kitchen had all utensils you could need, beds were comfortable. close to walks & lookouts. Really enjoyed sitting out under the trees with the birds above and wallabies feeding all around you. Great value for money, highly recommend this location if heading to the Bunya Mountains for a visit,

We stayed at Rice's in June so we could experience the cold of the mountains. The cabin was wonderful. It had a great fireplace and they supply all of your firewood. We did have to cut our own kindling, but as 2 capable females, we did this no problem. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare our own meals. They even had a large pot of herbs outside to use if necessary. We walked down to the village to the Tavern and Coffee shop. The hiking was fabulous. Will definitely stay again.

Comfortable cabins, has everything you need. ( We did have to bring own linen and towels but that was fine.) Very quiet environment and a short walk down to shops, Tavern and walking tracks.
Lots of wallabies, bandicoots and brush turkeys can be seen from inside the cabin. Neat fire place for those cold nights.

We booked a 2 night stay in one of only 6 cottages set up in the Bunya mountains, about a 3 hour drive from Brisbane.
Our cabin had 2 bedrooms, double, and bunks plus single bed in the other. The cottage was small but well stocked with all you would need for a few days stay. The main draw to the area is the bushwalks and peaceful surrounds.Wildlife was all around us, wallabies hopping around the cabin, parrots and kookaburras.
We enjoyed looking at the stars at night, having a real fire, going on a horse and cart ride and being amongst such beautiful surrounds.
You do need to take sheets and your food (very limited shopping facilities). I had planned for us to eat at the onsite restaurant 'Puzzles' on the saturday night. However it was fully booked, and I hadn't prebooked a table. Luckily, Carol the owner, brought us a delicious casserole over to our cabin so we didn't go hungry!!
Also, as it is much cooler on the mountain, bring warm clothes- we woke to a frost on the ground!!

an easy 3 hour drive gets you to the bunya mountains where you can get a unique rainforest experience. Rice's cabins provide direct access to the national park walks which are fit for most age groups. At the end of the day you can retreat to the warmth of a simple but comfortably furnished cabin with a wood stove.
The cabins are self catering but at weekends it is possible to dine at the on site Puzzles Restaurant, where the fayre goes way beyond home cooking.
A great place to spend a few days and enjoy the hospitality of the hosts Peter and Cathy Young

I have marked Rices Log Cabins as Very Good, but would actually choose a "Good" option, if Trip Advisor whould have it. Overall it was better than "Average", the location is Very Good, but in relation to its cleanliness, the overall experience would bring it down to 'Good'.
We stayed a couple of nights and of course its location in the heart of the Bunya Mountains is excellent. Hosts Peter and Cathy were very helpful and accommodating, most everything about the log cabins has already been reviewed, they are basic and old but are adequately kitted out and the log fires are great - and necessary in winter! We joined a Christmas in July dinner at Puzzles restaurant, which at $60 a head we found a little pricey (i.e. $120 a couple!!) not including beverages, but enjoyable all the same and the hosts went to a lot of trouble to decorate the restaurant.
Our only criticism would be the cleanliness of our cabin. On the 'surface' it seemed adequate but I don't think behind the bed and other corners had seen a vacuum in forever (and as you take your own linen and make your own bed it's there for all to see). There were dusty old grey cobwebs hanging from the ceilings (no, they were not new cobwebs) and you could have written "dust me" on the shelf with the few dusty books on it. In fact, I was tempted! But certainly no good for allergy or dust mite sufferers. The couch had sticky stuff like a spilled drink on it which we cleaned ourselves. No big deal. Even the broom hanging behind the bathroom door had a load of fluff and hair stuck to the bottom of it. Eeuuuw! People may be happy to live like this in their own homes but when you are paying to stay somewhere (anywhere!) we expect it to be properly cleaned.

There are few places that attract us as much as Rice's Log Cabins. We keep returning to this idyllic setting of cosy cabins dotted amongst towering bunya pines and other rainforest species. The cabins are colourfully decorated in a country style and we have always found them to be very clean and comfortable. Slow-combustion fires warm the cabins in winter while the crisp mountain air keeps temperatures down in the warmer months. Hosts, Cathy and Peter are always welcoming and dinner at Puzzles is to die for. Cathy is an amazing cook. The bird life is stunning with so many native species, making their homes near the cabins or in the nearby national park. We never tire of the walks of varying lengths along tracks through the forest, beside creeks and waterfalls, and out along the western escarpment. There are few places in Queensland that give you the enjoyment, camaraderie and bushwalking experience available here.

Our first time to the Bunya mountains and we were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation. We arrived to a peaceful well kept cabin, with loads of wildlife around us. This is a great safe place for kids to run around and have fun. Puzzles restaurant , which is run by the owners of the cabins is a fantastic night out, the food is awesome and the atmosphere was perfect for families. We enjoyed the cosy nights by the fireplace and the great bush walks that the Bunya Mountains have to offer. We will be back.
