I have stayed at Madura many times before in my travels across the Nullarbor, in fact have gone out of my way to stay there rather than the 2 roadhouses either side of Madura but I was disappointed this trip.
Rooms look like they are still partly decrepit, Eucla where I stayed going east has beeen renovated, Madura obviously hasnt, at Eucla , even though basic one can get all the free to air channels, only 3 available at Madura didnt make sense!
Now one of the attractions in past has been quite a good restauarant, not this time! I can only assume it was due to lack of staff that the restaurant was closed.
So one had to drink and eat in packed spartan room at bar, only choice of food was from meagre takeaway menu, and about 3 specials.
I noticed most people taking their food back to their room, which is what I did.
So I only had 2 stubbies as ambience in room was not flash and minimum food, wonder how much they missed out on because other people did the same.
And kitchen closed at 7;00 p.m. Central W.A. time( which is not official and only used by roadhouses from Cocklebiddy to Eucla) so if you rolled up from the west thinking it is only , say 6 ;00 p.m. local time was 6;45 p,m, so little time to organize food and drinks or relax.
The 2 blokes running the show seemed nice enough and I will give benefit of the doubt and assume no staff, but 7;00 p.m .last food orders? that is ridiculous.
Not sure whether to stay next trip or not now

Tried to book a couple of road house motels closer to Perth to avoid driving at night, but they were all booked out when I tried to book that morning. Madura (1,200 kms from Perth) was only place I could get a room and having stayed there several times on previous cross country drives, I was happy to book and arrange for a key to be left for me. This all worked well and although the room was in C block and closer to the generator, I had a great nights sleep and enjoyed a nice hot shower the next morning before my next long drive to Port Lincoln. The room was clean, well furnished and had a refurbished bathroom. Overall, much better than some of the worn out motels you find on the Eyre Highway.

Had an overnight stop here and found it comfortable. The food at the restaurant is old style but brilliantly done and reasonably priced. It’s a little tired of course but because it was comfortable and relatively clean and tidy at a reasonable price I recommend it. The food is a huge bonus. We enjoyed a walk up to the lookout from the motel. Involved a bit of scrambling up rocky sections but well worth it for the view.

This motel far exceeded our expectations of staying on the Nullarbor! Tucked away off the highway and surrounded by trees, it is certainly the most scenic of the roadhouses in this area. The room was spotless and spacious, bed comfy, shower had great pressure, and the aircon worked a treat (important as it was 40 degrees out!). The staff were friendly and the meals we had up at the restaurant were fairly priced with enormous serving sizes. Yes, it was a little overpriced for a basic motel room but you'll find that everywhere on the Nullarbor, and considering how remote it is we found it good value compared to some of the other places. Would highly recommend the overnight stop over here!

We paid $140 for Motel Room 33 . Not value for money. It’s shabby and also needs soundproofing. We could hear the conversation of the guests next door so switched on the ensuite fan on for white noise.

The bottom fitted bed sheet was the wrong size and didn’t cover the mattress at the head end. We put a towel across to cover the mattress. One side of the bed creaked so much we feared it may collapse.

A pillow had a large thumb size stain which appeared to be blood..We only noticed this because it was poking out of the pillow case.. All the pillows need replacing as they do not look fresh and clean.. We were pleased we had brought our own.

A mug had stains running down the outside with a biscuit crumb stuck to them. The shower and towels were good.. Basic amenities provided..

The restaurant meal exceeded our expectations. We had roast pork with vegetables. The size was generous and the cost no more than any nice restaurant.

We found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

If we have to stop over here again, we’ll save our money and pitch our tent ..but take advantage of a good evening meal.

This property should be bulldozed. They promote refurbished rooms however we were given the key to rm 32 that had to be the most diabolical unit there, curtains hanging off the track, dark and dingy, Management have refused to refund using the excuse that we failed to cancel 24 hours before arrival. Makes that prospect impossible when you can only see the room upon your arrival. When asked if there were any better rooms available, reception staff told us that all the rooms were OLD and in the same condition as rm 32 ???????.
Management as still refusing to contact back to have a one on one conversation relating to the above concerns.

Considering many of the motels I encountered along the drive across Australia, I did not expect much for the budget. When I arrived I saw the outside of the motel rooms and my expectations decreased further. However, when I entered the room I was very pleasantly surprised. The decor was fresh and upgraded, everything was clean and tidy and it was a very pleasant stay. I would recommend Madura Oasis over many of the options nearby. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating and I would definitely return.

Much too expensive for the quality of service and accommodation. Staff not too friendly. Room did not have wifi, which was very much needed. We encountered a few bugs in the room, but we carry insect spray simply for this purpose. A lot of traffic noise, which prevented us from having a good night's rest. We'd stay there again, but only at a pinch!

Stayed here one night.
The motel is old but your out in the middle of nowhere and staff and workers are hard to come by.
However on the bright side the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable.
Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room.
We ate at the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of our meal.
Would definitely stay here again after a days drive in the car.

Reluctantly booked a room, after reading review, however could not fault anything. On the contrary. Staff was friendly and provided necessary information to make the stay problem free. Rooms simple, but comfortable. Bathroom clean and updated. Yes, road trains can be heard from the rooms, but it is a Motel on the Nullarbor after all. Dinner was great value for money and the best on the Nullarbor.

I can only suggest that the phone lines are down (booster towers ) If you are travelling West you may be able to contact. Balladonia or East Eucla or Border village. Madura has lots of rooms, some not so good so if you get there before dark you coul d get one,if not you have a couple of hours drive.good luck
