We stayed at the New Planet Hotel in Kondoa on mission business multiple times. It is the best hotel in town. However, having said that you had better plan on roughing it. Be sure to ask for a self-contained room (private bathroom). Don't shy from the squatty potty--they are actually more physiologic than the usual Western stool. The maid will...

I was not expecting anything luxurious in this small town but the only good thing I can say is that the room was clean. The beds are small and there is no room to put luggage anywhere except up against the door to the hallway (which reading other reviews might be a good thing as no one could enter!). There...

We arrived in kondoa to go see the rock art sites and this seemed like a good place to stay. We had some decent food from their restaurant and went out in the village. When we come back to our hostel the guarding askari is gone from the entrance(a good warning there might happen something bad soon). Then there is...

This clean, reasonably priced and well positioned hotel in Kondoa was fine for a 2 night stay, but a few mistakes made me less than pleased in the long run. There is no running hot water in the rooms, but you can request a bucket of hot water to be brought to you, which was very done very quickly, then...

Stayed here for one night when I visited the Kolo rock-paintings. The cheap rooms are clean but small, the beds ok (with mosquito nets) and the bathroom is basic without hot water. I'm used to not having much so I didn't mind. The restaurant that's behind the hotel is pretty good and could provide for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although...

“Rooms on the left as you go in have windows that face onto the carpark. Rooms at the very end are closer to the bar which was open until about 2am. Rooms with a western style toilet may not flush, meaning a lot of effort required to 'flush' it with buckets of water.”
