No assistance, completely vunerable. Could turn violent at any time. Police and park management wash their hands of the whole issue. And in fact very easy to solve with the right will. This place should be closed down because it has been a potential life-threatening experience

We were robbed on our first night there. Probably an inside job and, apparently, quite the common occurrence. No security or wardens to be seen. No warnings given. Will have to wait and see if our money for the second night is reimbursed. Again, do not go here.

Both camps have their challenges. Monkeys at the bottom camp are a challenge but these issues can be easily sorted out if one knows how. state of the camp not good but no security issues when we were there. The hunting camp is slightly better then the bottom however it needs attention. would I go back? Yes very much so....

Been many a time and the actual neglect is more visible now than in August 2015. Made a prior booking and on arrival we paid our portion in cash and had no receipt issued?? Seemingly a problem to do so Load music from neighboring farm on Friday and Saturday. Ablutions is filthy dirty and only been swept to get rid...

We booked a campsite for 5 nights in the Moretele camp site. On arrival the camp attendant warned us to remove all valuables from the car and keep them in the caravan at night. His story about the ongoing robberies including a car theft in the campsite was not what we wanted to hear and needless to say; we had...

A group of 18 friends booked into Moretele camp. Despite the beautiful location on the river, I'd say never again. The camp has been neglected and the monkeys are a continual nuisance. You need to close every movable object in the cupboards with a heavy chair in front to stop them. There was no water on the first night there,...

We had a short long weekend and we decided to go to Moretele Camp in Borakalalo National Park and caravan for the weekend. Moretele Camp is part of the tented camp, but you obviously either have your own tent or caravan. The camp has no electricity , which was nice, and it is very rustic. All stands have water and...

The park vegetation is lush and green in Summer. Due to good rainfall there are plenty of water for the animals in the veld so they don't all go to the large Dam for water, therefore viewing the animals are more difficult. Safe to walk around self guided hiking trails but not nice in summer time due to high temperature....

Used to love going there but never again! My brother and his girlfriend got robbed there on Sunday the 28th of December 2014. Worst of all is that the guy my brother saw coming out of their tent had the exact same clothes on than the park official who brought some of their stuff back which he "alledgedly" found lying...

This was my second visit to Borakalalo and I was thrilled to see the reserve is still very well managed from an ecological view point. Plenty of game and the vegetation and roads within the park is in good condition. There are a number of activities - fishing, self-guided walks and drives and of course simply relaxing. Unfortunately the same...

“Choose a tent that has lot of shade - it is hot is summer. NO food must be stored in the tent or anywhere where the monkeys can get hold of it, they open the tents and open any containers and grab the food - best to store food in your vehicle or a properly locked crate. Be warned....”
