Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bella retreat is lovely property and our children really enjoyed the garden with the trampoline and climbing equipment. The house itself is spacious, well equipped and, as there were only 4 of us, we had a good choice of beds. There are 2 double beds, 2 singles and a set of bunk beds which are fine for children but I wouldn't want to sleep adults in them. We really enjoyed staying in the property as we were after a break from city living so were in the right frame of mind for rustic charm. We didn't mind that not all of the furnishings were perfect and accepted that you need to put up with a few dead bugs around if you stay in rural areas. However, there are numerous messages around the house telling you what to do. Ones about conserving water and reducing the risks of bush fires are absolutely accepted and are common sense to most, I hope. But there are ones about putting games back after you have played with them, not moving crockery around in the cupboards, not moving bins, not moving furniture, ones by every light switch telling you to switch them off when you go out, ones about heaters........ I could go on! Many of these carry a warning about deductions from your security deposit - I have never had to give one of these on a rental property before and have stayed in 6 other properties in the region. My children said it was like being back in school with so many rules. It is such a shame because, for me, it slightly spoiled the relaxation I was after. I would suggest removing 90% of the notes and just keeping the 2 or 3 really important ones - it would change the atmosphere of this place tremendously. We still enjoyed our stay, especially sitting round the wood burner in the evenings. The property oozes character and charm.

Visited Bella Retreat with wife, 2 children and in-laws (2 adults). Very comfortable house with room for 2 additional persons if required. House contains everything to be self sufficient including a fantastic kitchen with large gas stove top and electric oven. Nestled in the bush providing ultimate privacy and relaxation however still conveniently located in close proximity to the Margaret River Township and a myriad of other key locations including beaches, wineries and breweries. A highlight for us was being able to light the log fire in the living room on a number of the cooler nights and sit back on the couch with a glass of red and be further mesmerized by the romance of the setting.
There are a number of different play items for children including a swinging tyre which my children adored. If you are seeking peace, tranquility and ultimate relaxation Bella Retreat is a must. We are already planning our next visit.

We had the most amazing time at Bella Retreat. My husband was riding the Cape to Cape race, so each day when he finished, Bella Retreat was the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. the outdoor space was amazing for the children and the indoor space was so lovely and cozy with beautiful fire which enabled us to relax and wind down.
The kitchen was better stocked than our own home and there was ample space for food and drink.
The giant bath was very appealing to soothe sore muscles and the kids loved it too.
We absolutely loved every minute fo our time at Bella Retreat and will def be back! Thanks for everything Belinda!

I just wanted to write a message about our stay at Bella Retreat in the Margaret River as I have never been more disappointed in an accommodation in my life. The pictures on the net are a complete falsehood, the place was disgustingly filthy, curtains stained, windows filthy, furniture old, stained & dirty, bathrooms covered in dead bugs, floors so dirty as I walked from laundry to bedroom after showering my feet were black on the soles. I felt extremely embarrassed to take my family who were visiting from interstate there, it portrayed Margaret river in a very poor light for the $$$ it cost we payed $500 per night and the misleading advertising of the accommodation saying it accommodates 8 but really they mean 4 adults and 4 children. We had all adults and there were skinny single beds and bunks in two of the rooms. The entire house is run down and unmaintained, the ceiling in the laundry toilet is like and old outside barn with holes all filled in with yellow stained gap filler. I could go on and on the dinning table light, really? a make shift spot light coiled through the actual light fitting, the dirty dusty patio with weeks of build up, the weeds in the garden. Very Very disappointed!

Response from BelindaTaranto, Owner at Bella Retreat
Responded 19 July 2018
Even though this review was posted in 2016, I felt the need to respond as it shows as a blur on our listing which usually has 5 star reviews from our guests. Whilst we welcome feedback from our guests and are continually taking comments on board on order to improve our property, this review is simply full of complete inaccuracies. 1. The photographs on our site are completely accurate and exactly portray our property. Please check our listings on all our websites. 2. Our property is situated in the forest so a certain amount of bugs will occur even though the property is thoroughly cleaned prior to our guests arriving. We have not had a review ever where a guest has mentioned dirty floors. 3. Our furniture is of a high standard as our photographs truly show. 4. We do not charge $500 per night. Please check our various websites including Airbnb for accurate pricing. 5. I informed you that 2 of your guests would need to sleep in bunk beds. It was your choice to continue with your booking bearing this in mind. We clearly state this on our website and have photos of all bedrooms to reflect this. Comment in my email prior to arrival "Just so you know, 2 of your guests would need to be in bunk beds so I hope this is ok?" 6. Our dining table light was a 'feature light' through a wrought iron fitting. Based on your comments, it has now been removed and replaced with a lovely new shade (please see photos). Thank you for bringing this to our attention as it was the first time a guest had mentioned it. 7. We take pride in our gardens with a regular maintenance by our gardening team. On 13 acres of property, you will find some weeds! This review was posted the night before your stay : Annie 5star Bella Retreat is by far the best accommodation I have had in the Margaret River/ South West region. I dare say it was one of the most relaxing holidays I've had too. Conveniently located minutes from Redgate Beach and the centre of the Margaret Rover township, Bella Retreat offers both supreme relaxation, serenity with the bonus of easy access to all the great attractions the region has to offer. Already planning my next trip back! And this our latest review : "The house is stylish, large, supremely appointed, very comfortable (excellent beds and bedding, and resplendent with indoor and outdoor settings)" There is simply no pleasing some guests and we do appreciate this. Thank goodness that the time myself and my family put into our property to make it an enjoyable experience for our guests is reflected in our lovely reviews and returning guests!
