This so called hotel is not fit for humans! The place was disgusting full of dampness with wallpaper falling of the wall, frightening floorboards which moved a lot when walked on, dirt everywhere, roasting hot water coming out of both taps, no cold water dirty bathroom, unsafe windows at dangerous heights opening like a door in what they describe as... Absolutely terrible experience. Showers wouldn't function correctly in either of our rooms (leaking pipes, bath seal problems, etc), so couldn't take a shower. Bedding was dirty and stained. Some type of nails were left on the floor (toe or finger nails by the looks of it). Also had a window broken which caused injury. After taking this complaint to a... More

We found maggot type grubs on the bed and promptly left. The hotel then refused to refund us the total booking (two rooms) and only refunded the one room after we chased them for a week. Three weeks later they refuse to refund, avoid calls and blame booking.com for not being able to refund us. The apartment room in question... More

Planned a family trip to Alton Towers and decided to stay overnight to avoid the long schlep home to West Yorkshire in the dark. Whilst browsing the internet for somewhere reasonably priced to stop I found The Crown Hotel. From the reviews, we were expecting a God forbidden Hellhole but decided to chance it as we were only looking for... More

The room was very nice and even had a separate lounge area. The hotel is central and an excellent stop over if you're visiting the nearby theatre. The food in the hotel was nicely cooked and reasonably priced. An added bonus for us was the lovely swimming pool and sauna.

How the hell is this allowed to continue as a Hotel ?Huge pot-hole by rear entrance door from car park which is badly lit. No facilities for disabled users as there are steps for every entry to the premises and the bedrooms are all upstairs. Deluge of water pouring through the ceiling in Reception on arrival, staff not phased as... More

This is an experience never to be repeated in my lifetime. Arrived with a cold & left with pneumonia. A bed of nails would have been more comfortable than that mattress. Next time I'll sleep in the car.

We booked a room here for £34 as went to a gig in Liverpool and living 4 hours away, didn't want to drive back too far. Stayed here literally just to sleep. Hotel is dated with the decor but for a good nights sleep, £34 you get what you pay for - a bed in a room with en suite... More

I stay in Stoke on Trent regularly and decided not to pay the extortionate price of the usual hotel I go to on this occassion. However, despite the budget price for my single room, nothing else about the stay was comfortable. The room was boiling hot and when I attempted to turn down the radiator, the knob came off in... Where do I start? Receptionist didn't seem to know basic info about the hotel. The room was tiny, extremely dated decor, quite rundown and dimly lit. The en-suite was as bad. Very very noisy fan and tiny cupboard shower cubicle. There was noise through the night and the room was also unbearably warm. I hardly slept a wink and seemed... More
