Ok first the bad points; The room smelt of tobacco and there was a sock covering the smoke alarm, not a good start. The room / hotel had seen better times and was badly in need of updating + the bed was not comfortable and also smelt of tobacco. For this I must blame the cleaning staff / procedures /...

The first room I was given stank of smoke, had no curtains on the windows, an electric socket that was earthing out and the shared shower had a broken head that drenched the room. The fire escape signage I believe was inadequate , we found this out after being evacuated when water got in the electrics of another room. I...

Was a a funeral the early the next day so decided to travel the day before and stay over. Found this hotel on Booking.com at a cheap rate. Normally I wouldn't stay in a 2 star hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. The lady on reception, Jo, was very friendly and welcoming. Had a twin room, small but comfortable. Had...

Just visited for three nights, March 2017, the staff are excellent, making our time at the crown very relaxed. The hotel manager clearly invests in his team and it shows. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, shame it is up for sale, hopefully the new owners will value the team as there are many, many hotels that don't.

The front of the building and reception area are beautifully laid out. But that's pretty much it. Given our room and the hall smells of de-hudifiers and enter the room. The lights were so dim it was awful. I then went into the bathroom which was tiny but no major problems however when I tried to make a cup of...

Cheap , no thrills, bed, bath, shabby but clean. If you are looking for a place to impress - this is not it . However if you are just looking for somewhere to lay your head , nearby shops and takeaways, between stops and under £30.00 then it will do.

Aparently trip advisor does not believe how bad this place was. If you have a choice of staying here or sleeping on a park bench. Take the bench. Room disgustingly dirty. Beer lines in dire need of a clean. Daytime receptionist in dire need of customer service training. Floor boards that keep you up all night. Matress so old the...
