I stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip. Perfect service, staff very nice and accommodating. The room was modernly equipped and left nothing to be desired. The breakfast price performance ratio is excellent. Will book it again and again when I'm around.
We arrived at the hotel l2b told the parking was not free as advertised on the website, none of the staff were wearing face masks, the hand sanitizer was empty, it's almost like they didn't know there was a pandemic. When entering the room it smells very old, the first thing my daughter noticed was that the pillow had fake tan all over it from previous residence, the carpet had a big brown stain, lamp shades with dirty and cracked, light switches which we had to put on on were filthy. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, the remote was covered in a plastic bag which I presume was to protect us from covered but the plastic bag was full of sticky finger marks from the people previously stained in the hotel so this had not been changed. The windows were filthy and cracked, there are brown stains on the wall in the bathroom don't even want to think about what these maybe, and I got about an hour sleep due to the noise of the other residence. I would not recommend this hotel I will definitely pay the extra money and stay at the Holiday Inn which is just that little bit further down the road.…
Stopped here for a couple of nights with family as we visited Waterworld etc. Location is superb, walk into City Centre. I believe this hotel was formerly The Grand Hotel many years ago. The spacious Lobby, high ceiling rooms, suggest it was Grand. I would definitely stay here again, full of character, extremely helpful staff and location is excellent.
My family and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in all as we were celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday and had booked to go to Alton Towers when our Florida holiday was cancelled. Our family from the Lake District came down to surprise him and we travelled up from Kent. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were met by a lovely young lady on reception. Everyone we spoke with was very polite and helpful. We had 6 rooms booked in total and they were all spotless with very good facilities. The hotel itself although an old building was clean and had been refreshed to a really good standard. We had dinner in the room off the bar as a family on the Saturday evening and although there were a couple of small details that could have been better, overall it was great. The food was really good and the chef was excellent (coming in on his day off to accommodate us). The only real issue we had during the stay was with the travel cot supplied for one of our rooms as it did not have a mattress and was not really fit for purpose. This meant a couple of sleepless nights for my cousin and her partner as the baby had to sleep in with them. The bath plug in my own room was also broken but I was offered an alternative room which I politely declined as it wasn’t a big deal and someone came to try and resolve my issue immediately. The staff worked like troopers due to the fact that they were down on numbers (re: due COVID restrictions) but they never let this show and could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and for the price of the accommodation, we would definitely stay here again. Parking was handy right next to the hotel and at £7.50 per night, per vehicle, not extortionate either.…
We spent the night at this hotel as we were spending 2 days at Alton towers, the building looks a little dull, not what I expected when we first arrived, staff were very polite and helpful. Shame they weren’t doing any breakfasts due to COVID-19, As that’s something I like to have the next morning at a hotel. The rooms were dull and outdated, however slept comfortably. Just before midnight the people above us were shouting, talking really loud and allowing their child to jump from the bed onto the floor which I thought at one point they were gonna come through! and slamming their door.. obviously had a few to drink and were very inconsiderate to the people around them But they were travellers so what do you expect.. Got annoyed so rang reception told them what was going on, although I think he knew because the kids were running around like menaces earlier that evening and their kind were just being nuisance’s. Apparently there was a traveller’s wedding the night before and they were causing a few issues. The gentleman said he will move us to much quieter room, and he did so quickly! Which we were grateful for.. Got a decent nights sleep ready for day 2 at Alton Towers.…
