Prema Shanti.
Just wow. If you are at a time on your life, where you are asking yourself who am I, what am I, you need to rediscover who you are, this is the place to be. Covid has bought a wierd energy into our lives along with isolation and confusion, burn out has reached epic levels. Prema Shanti offers a place of solitude, guidance by the beautiful jannardhan and Mara (but natural, not intrusive). This place is special, in the middle of the rainforest, close to nature, no connection to the outside world. I can for 14 days, I was a bit scared, I was resistant to change but I couldn't go in with the rage I had inside me. with the gentle guidance of both Mara and jannardhan, the meditation practice, the amazing clean food, the healing chants and yoga, I am anew woman. My energy has shifted, I'm smiling, not juts on the outside but with my whole being. This place will hold a special place in my heart.
Don't go to catch up with friends, go to feel the energy. The healing, the spiritual journey. Mara and jannardhan will guide you as needed.
I cannot express my gratitude enough, I am a new woman, my journey will continue and Prema Shanti will hold a special place on my heart. I will be back.
On my return I have shared my journey, I am sure many will follow my steps and seek the peace. Healing. Connection whatever they need in this beautiful place.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou

This was my third trip to Prema Shanti and I look forward to the fourth. Hard to go wrong with yoga and meditation in the Daintree, but Mara and Janardan take it next level.
First, the program is simple - yoga at 6pm, dinner then noble silence from 9.30pm. Up for silent meditation from 7am followed by breakfast. Pretty much the entire day to yourself to rest or explore.
Second, the food is excellent. Vegan dinners and muesli, yogurt and fruit for breakfast. I bought some nuts and a couple of muesli bars on the way up for lunch, although others ate at local cafes. Importantly for me, they understand the need for coffee.
Third, the yoga instruction is really good. Mara and Janardan alternate, and both are great teachers. They will take the time to work through any issues, and with eight or fewer participants, they can offer individual tips.
The accomodation is simple, with drop toilets in use during the day and shared facilities, so don’t expect everything you are used to at home. Do expect a great sleep which may be interrupted by the odd critter outside, and being woken to the sound of birds just outside. The porch and yoga/meditation room upstairs are brilliant.
Prema Shanti is great, but the star of the show is the remarkable Daintree rainforest. It is truly a wonder.

Prema Shanti is a retreat in the true sense of the word. It forces you to slow down: rejuvenate in the lush rainforest surroundings, read in a hammock, enjoy noushing lovingly prepared meals and come alive in the daily (unguided) 30 min meditation and 60 min yoga (a mix of hatha, vinyasa and nidra) sessions. This was my second time at Prema Shanti (I stayed for 5 nights) and my experience was as good as my first.
Food is very important to me, and I wouldn't recommend a place that didn't' measure up on that score. Breakfast consists of bran, toasted muesli, yogurt , fresh fruit and plunger coffee. Dinner changes each night, but I had an Italian risotto (Mara has an Italian background) with a side salad and parmesan, Asian style stir fry and a lentil soup with warm bread. The menu is strictly vegetarian and fairly health, in keeping with the fact that its a yoga retreat. But for those of you crave your hit of meat, or are like me and enjoy the occasional deep fried meal, you are not short for options when eating out for lunch.
The accommodation is simple but comfortable. Rooms come with a comfy queen bed or two single beds. The bathroom facilities are communal, but well maintained. Guests have access to all day tea/coffee making facilities. Most of your time is not spent in the room though: on the verandas, in the yoga/meditation space or in the local area.
Mara talks all new guests through local activities that are available, which include rainforest walks, local swimming holes and cafes and restaurants. There are also more options for the adventurous, which Mara is happy to arrange, such as snorkelling and horse riding.
The highlight of Prema Shanti are the other guests, and Mara and Janardhan, who run the retreat and live in another building on the property. A retreat of this type attracts individuals who are lived interesting lives, are seeking to better themselves and are wiling to share their experiences with their fellow yogis. Mara and Janardhan are the consummate hosts and are generous and patient teachers. They share their views on meditation, yoga and life without being overbearing.
I have again starting recommending this retreat to my friends in need of a break and who have an interest yoga and meditation - and am looking forward to my next visit!

I just spent a wonderful week at Prema Shanti in the Daintree Rainforest. What I loved was the flexibility and the location. You choose how long you want to stay (pending availability). It was just what I needed with meditation at 7am, then breakfast, and yoga at 6pm followed by a great vegetarian dinner; leaving the day free to explore the wonderful region making it feel like a retreat and holiday in one. You’ll need to hire a car at the airport if you’re not already driving there. Lunch isn’t included so you will need to get out during the day. Don’t skip the trip to the reef as it was magical. Janardhan and Mara each meet with you separately to help you make the most out of your stay and support you with whatever you want to get out of the retreat. The accommodation is rustic and basic but clean and a great environment for relaxing with lots of opportunities to lay in a hammock and read a book.

A very grounding and spiritual spot in the beautiful Raintree Rainforest. The yoga and meditation instruction were great, healthy and good vegetarian food and, as a small retreat, it is peaceful and restful. A real back to nature feel about this place, with clean shared facilities that are both in nature and very natural. Suits those who relish being at one with nature. Just what I needed and I feel blessed and grounded after 5 days at Prema Shanti. I will definitely go back.

Do yourself a favour and unplug for the weekend at Premi Shanti retreat. Mara and Janardhan your hosts provide the perfect mix of attention and care whilst also respecting your privacy. I'm not very experienced in Yoga myself however it is all explained well by Mara and Janardhan and measures are put in place to cater for different abilities. We left with a belly full of nutritious vegetarian food, a few insights into living a healthier life and our cups fill. Highly recommend. We have already booked our dates for next year!

My husband and I have returned from a 3. Night stay feeling refreshed yet energised.
The rainforest setting is Devine, best heathy nourishing food, daily practise of yoga and meditation and the days to get out and explore the Daintree area.
We will be back and I keep telling everyone back home that they need to get up there and be revitalised by the entire experience.

Wow. There are no words. What a spiritual, beautiful, soulful place 🧘♀️.
I’ve been to many yoga retreats and have never experienced somewhere like here before. Janardhan and Mara have created somewhere truely magic.
The food, stunning location and atmosphere was incredible. Great value for money.
Yoga was fab, especially loved Janardhans first yoga class which had me sweating 😅.
A place to switch off, relax, detox and learn. The learning part was the most unexpected one for me! Janardhan is so very generous with his time and wisdom, it was exactly what we needed 🙏. We can’t wait to come back again soon.

This was a perfect place for yoga, meditation, reflection, good company, and fantastic adventures. I recommend 100%! By the time I arrived, I had reservations for a message and a reef trip, just in case! The reef is a must-see and the trip was amazing. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Amazing place in the Daintree rainforest to stay and practice yoga and mindfulness. Beautiful comfy accomodation, quality food and a memorable 4- night stay. Strongly recommended for those who wish to disconnect for a few days and dive into the nature and self awareness.

Yes, the only option is to get a car (or maybe a bike :)). I was looking into public transportation as well but there is none.
You'll also need a car to get lunch or to go and visit other parts of the Rainforest.
