Pick up the key from the Bruny Hotel and travel 5 minutes down a paved and then dirt road to the cottages. We had cottage 6 so no ocean views. The bush views were nice. Ducks to welcome us along with paddy melons (small marsupials) and rabbits. The cottage was clean and fire ready to light with matches and fire...

You ask yourself what else can you expect from a 3 star cottage? Basic but clean right? Well, the previous reviewer has saved me uploading images of the dirty bathroom & (smelly) toilet etc etc. which give you an idea to the contrary. The fire was actually loaded to go but no matches! The 1 electric room heater did not...

First we arrived at the cottage to find that we had to backtrack 10KMs to the hotel on a dirt road to collect the key. This information wasn't passed on to us by booking agent. Second the accommodation is not easily accessible if you have any mobility issues. Third the bathroom was just disgusting; mouldy shower curtain, thick gluggy grime...

Everything in Bruny Island is a little sparse so initially we were a little unsure of where the cottage was located. We checked into the main reception at Hotel Bruny and drove another 15 - 20 (?) minutes to our cottage. Initial impression was ok - place was clean and there was a fireplace laid out. However, as we later...

The fire place was the selling point, all set and ready for lighting as we stepped in the door. Clean, neatly laid out and everything needed for a comfy stay. Plenty of hot water, plenty of firewood, games and pegs in the cupboard. Visiting duck was a treat. Had to call at Hotel Bruny to get the key and met...

We stayed for 2 nights in cottage 4. Half the lights didn't work. There is no heating other than the wood fire. We were not given any kindling and couldn't get the fire going the first night. If you stay there, make sure you go out and collect sticks yourself. The cottage was full of spiders, and the bug spray...

Great view, clean room and value for money. Make sure you stop into Get Shucked on your way to this cosy cottage. There is real coffee in plunger form and decent milk. The room has comfortable chairs that I suggest using as its cold outside. Also, a quiet place given the hotel next door.

We stayed one night and it was ok but basic. The bathroom had humidity and was very dated. Would not recommend for longer stay but was fine for the night. We enjoyed the company of the resident ducks.

We just spent 3 nights in Explorers Cottage number 2. This cottage definitely had the best view of the bay, most of the other cottages would be blocked by trees. The beds were very comfortable (one queen in one room, two single beds in the other), not too hard and not too soft. There was ample bedding for a cold...
