It's not luxury but they don't charge for luxury either. We stayed for a night this summer and were pleasantly surprised and would be delighted to go back in the winter if we lived closer. Room is clean, we asked for bedlinen and towels as we are limited in how much we can bring, but you can bring your own,...

Beautifull place at the mountain lake. It's a stop of a busy road, so besides hiking trails (in the summer) there is nothing much to do. We booked the room during a road trip and added the three course dinner. Great food with a good quality price ratio and a fantastic view while dining. The rooms are simple, but perfectly...

We really enjoyed our stay here, the location is so nice. Scenery is awesome, and it is a good startingpoint for exploring the Norwegian mountains. The food was very good, the accomodation is so so, small rooms - small beds and the hotwater is taking a while to arrive.. but the air is so crisp that you sleep well. Good...

We were visiting relatives nearby, and they took us to their favorite restaurant for Sunday dinner. It was very crowded, but that meant it is good, and the restaurant had the capacity. We did not stay overnight but would have enjoyed doing so. We also missed they bakery, but it smelled heavenly. The restaurant has a small gift shop at...

This DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) staffed lodging offers the best point to rest in between trekking the trails and mountain hut stays. It has excellent facilities. The room (mountain room) was very comfortable with your own bathroom (need to book well in advance otherwise dormitory rooms) and reasonably priced. The local food was quite good (great coffee) and the staffs...

Haukeliseter was on the way between our planned Kjerag and Trolltunga hikes - and the best DNT staffed lodge we had! A lovely historic hytte we stayed in a room for two, and I loved the building and the view across the lake to the hills from the kitchen! The sauna hut was built recently, and we could heat up...

We've stayed there on 2 different days. They are member of DNT. Great place to stay. Tasty food and excellent breakfast. The staff is really helpful. lovely places to sit and relax, clean, ... We even had forgotten our tent, at the reception desk. No problem to send it to Belgium; after making some agreements on the price, of course...

Hallo and thank you for the great review. As you say there is a lot of snow in the mountains this year. With up to 6 meters of snow her in February and a colder May and summer the usual we don’t think all the snow will melt this summer. Maybe in the middle of September most of the snow...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Haukeliseter is situated in the middle of southern Norway, just in between Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger. You'll reach us easily by car or bus all year round, following road E134. We're at the road's highest passage over Mount Haukeli, aproximately 1000 meters above sea level, in between the cities of Haukeli and Røldal. Haukeliseter is without doubt a very popular start and end point for people who are trekking between the mountain cabins following the Norwegian Mountain Touring Associations (DNT:s) marked routes. There are very good trails and cabins both south and north of Haukeliseter in Hardangervidda national park and Setesdalsheiene. More people are also discovering the joy of using Haukeliseter as a more permanent base for their nature experiences. For example can you hike in varied terrain during the day, while being able to endulge our relaxing wilderness spa in the afternoon and enjoy delicious food in the company of others during the evening. Haukeliseter has 158 beds/49 rooms. Hotel rooms: 2-4 persons. Nice view over the mountains. Bedding, shower and WC on the rooms. Self-catering rooms: 2-5 persons. Nice view over the mountains. Hotplates, fridge with freezer. Shower, sauna and toilet are available in the same building. Bedding can be arranged. Stabbursrom: 2-6 persons. Simple, charming room in traditional Stabbur (warehouses on pillars). Kitchen available. Bedding and final clean can be arranged. Water, shower, sauna and WC is in the neighbouring building. Sauna and outdoor wooden bath tub. ... more   less
