Guests are charmed by the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa's sophisticated atmosphere and prime location near the Magic Kingdom, complete with enchanting views and nightly fireworks. While the spacious rooms and manicured grounds receive praise for their cleanliness, some travelers find the cleanliness and readiness of the rooms disappointing.
The service and amenities yield mixed reviews; guests appreciate the decor but are less impressed with the service and feel the cost may not reflect the overall value, especially given the pricey add-ons.

My family and I recently spent a week at the Grand Floridian. We returned after spending a few days in 2022. At that time, I gave an overview of the ups and downs of the hotel at the time. This year, our experience was very positive. Below are a few items to consider for a future visit.
Check-In:
This part was by far the slowest. We arrived around 1pm and were not able to access our room until almost 4pm. When asking a cast member after 3pm about the progress of our room, he was very accommodating and honestly, I think he was the reason why the room was ready shortly afterwards. Disney is notorious for rooms not being ready right away, and my only advice is to be as patient within reason.
Room:
We had a lagoon view in the Boca Chica building. The room was very nice; cleaned everyday and pretty quiet overall in the evening. You can hear the Water Pageant, fireworks and horn from the boat throughout the evening...plan accordingly if you are a family with small kids. My wife left music playing on the television for awhile as white noise to help our children fall and stay asleep.
Food:
1900 Park Fare; Gasparilla and Grand Floridian Cafe were more than acceptable.
Merchandise:
My wife loved both Sandy Cove and Basin. M Mouse Mercantile is currently getting renovated.
Service:
Our encounters with the cast members were all positive. They are willing to help you; sometimes tact plays a factor in terms of whether they can/will be accommodating for you.
I will say that if you have never stayed at the Grand Floridian, and have the mindset it will be similar to the Four Seasons and Ritz Carleton, you may walk away disappointed. Disney hotels in general are overpriced, but my family enjoys the Grand Floridian due its convenience to the Magic Kingdom and the amenities the resort offers. My advice is to go in open-minded, and hopefully, your experience will be as positive as my family's.

The Grand Floridian is the most impressive hotel at Disney World, and being a Disney Hotel fan, I've always loved it. It is also very expensive, of course, so I've only been there a few times. I just got back from our stay, and it was totally magical. By "magical," I don't mean our trip is perfect. We did have a few problems. I did the online check in and requested an early room, and was texted our room number at 10am, which is awesome. However, by the time we got there, the room had only one bed for our family of 4, even though I booked a 2 queen beds room! So I immediately got everybody out without disturbing the room and went to the front desk to ask for a different room. There was a huge line at the front desk. Now, I have stayed at all the deluxe hotels in Disney World several times, and I have never seen a long line at the front desk before. I've never even had to wait, except for once, there was one family before me at the Polynesian Resort, and I waited just a couple of minutes. At the value resort such as Pop Century, I wait 20 minutes all the time, and I didn't mind because I wasn't paying top dollar. But this time at the Grand, I even told them that there's a problem with my room, do I have to wait in the check in line? They said yes, go wait in line! So I timed myself, and it took 23 minutes. That's longer than I've ever waited at Pop Century! The line was huge and barely moving, and the family behind me eventually left. It was finally my turn and I explained to the clerk about having only one bed. She apologized for the mistake repeatedly and assigned me another room immediately, but she did not apologize for making me stand there waiting 23 minutes in line to talk to the front desk, which is what actually bothered me. The wrong room is no big deal. Tip: I later realized that I should have called from the wrong room to guest services to demand a different room, which is all the front desk did. She didn't look up her own computer, she called somebody. But at the time, I never imagined that there would be a giant line at the front desk. So we got our new room and found that it to be beautiful, with a clear view of Magic Kingdom, a free upgrade! So my son went to open the balcony door and couldn't. I helped him and opened the door, and I noticed that the door latch was broken with a screw so loose that it came out and the hinge was bent. I examined it closely and realized that the latch is so poorly desiged that you can't tell if the door is latched or not, meaning that people will constantly pull on it with force while it's latched, making it broken all the time. I so called maintenance, who came promptly to fix the screw, but they didn't change the latch, so their problem will continue. This is room 8225 in Boca Chica building. A simple label showing which way the latch turns is open and close will solve the problem. My kids sat in the balcony and played cards, with the sun bright, the sky clear, in view of Magic Kingdom. It was magical! The room was renovated, beautiful and very clean. It has a gorgeous lamp that looks like the glass vase where Beast kept his rose. It is the most beautiful lamp I’ve ever seen. The bathroom mirror is incredibly beautiful! It doesn’t look so in pictures, but in real life it just looks stunning and took my breathaway. I remember the old bathroom in the Grand being totally drab, so this is a huge improvement. We went to Magic Kingdom on the Monorail (5 minutes wait, 5 minutes trip), then came back to swim. That's when I noticed another problem. The main pool with the water slide does NOT have a hot tub. I never noticed this before because it was always summer when we stayed in the past. This time in February, my kids had great fun until they got colder and colder. The quiet pool has a hot tub, but that's a long walk in the wind. That's why the quiet pool had more people than the main pool. I don't know why they can't put a hot tub in main pool. There is a giant toddler play area that's far bigger than necessary. In comparison, the Polynesian has 3 hot tubs, and even moderate hotels such as Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach have hot tubs next to their water slides, and they cost a fraction of the Grand. For dinner, we ate at the food court called Gasparilla. I recommend the Caprese sandwich if you like cold sandwiches. Most importantly, we got the dessert called the coconut cream and the almond cheese cake. It is so much better than the dessert we got when we stayed at Sugarloaf Club Level! And it's not even very expensive, no more than a Mickey ice cream bar but much fancier. We ate the dessert in our room at 8 pm as our own "Fireworks Dessert Party," when the fireworks went off. We even heard the fireworks music on the balcony. After the fireworks, there was the boat light show with music. Talk about magical! Then we went back to Magic Kingdom along the walking trail (10 minutes, same as Monorail). There was extended magic hours for deluxe hotel guests. My son had gotten the virtual queue for Tron during the extended magic hour. He got on Tron for the first time after a short wait, came back and was stunned. Magic Kingdom was nearly empty and most rides were walk on. Afterwards, we walked back to the hotel. The walkway is brand new and gorgeous: you see the lake reflecting all the lights of the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort as the Monorail rumbling past above you. At night, our room was cold. I couldn't get the temperature to go above 70 degrees. I had the same problem recently at the Contemporary and Boardwalk Inn, and I realized something. These hotels are old and being that Florida is cold only rarely, there's no point in fixing up the heaters. I did not have such problems at Caribbean beach or Pop Century: their air conditioner/heater unit spit out heat even in the summer. Tip: ask for extra blankets if you like to sleep hot, though sleeping cold is supposed to be more healthy. The Monorail is very packed during rush hours or even dinner time, when non-hotel guests come to eat at the Grand’s numerous restaurants. Going to Magic Kingdom from the Grand is a breeze during non-busy hours, but anywhere else is a pain. To get to Epcot, for example, you have to go on the Monorail, wait 2 stops before you get to the TTC, where you transfer to a different Monorail to Epcot, which takes at least 40 minutes. To go to anywhere else such as Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs, you have to share a bus with the Polynesian Resort, which means your travel is increased by 50%, and the bus is always crowded. This might have been OK back in the day, but with Disney keep adding rooms and building new DVC units, it is just not reasonable to have the Grand sharing buses while charging $1000 a night, especially if you consider the fact that the Disney's All Stars hotels don’t share buses even though they are dirt cheap and right next to each other. The worst part about the Grand is the bus stop, which is so small that it only allows one bus at a time. All other Disney bus stops allow at least 3 buses to stop at the same time. So if 2 buses arrive at the same time, and the first one has to load or unload a scooter, why, the other bus will just have to wait at the stop sign, holding up traffic. That makes no sense at all. In the mornings, the bus stops become so full that people have to stand in the walkway while pushing through the crowd to get to the right bus – you might want to get on the Hollywood Studios bus that just arrived, but the Animal Kingdom people are standing in front of you and refusing to move out of the way because they can’t, there’s no room. Right next to the bus stop is a grassy area with plenty of room, and Disney should really pave over that to make room for another bus to stop and people to stand.
The problems we had did not detract us from having a magically grand time. Therefore, despite our problems, I am giving the Grand 5 stars because it is the Grand! How can you give it any less?
Suggestions to Disney concerning the Grand: 1. Redesign the balcony door lock. 2. Put a hot tub in the water slide pool by carving out part of the toddler splash area. 3. Expand the bus stop. 4. Don’t make the Grand share a bus with anybody, that’s just embarrassing. 5. Get a bus to Epcot so that the Monorail isn’t so packed during busy hours.

We've been visiting Disney for decades, and have stayed at many hotels on property, but this was our first trip to the Grand Floridian.
The hotel is beautiful, and offers easy access to the parks by virtue of the on-site monorail. Rooms are very spacious and generally quiet; of course you can hear hallway noise if guests talk loudly or linger near your door. Our room, a theme park view, overlooked Bay Lake and offered such a peaceful retreat in the morning, with a nice view of the Electric Water Pageant and fireworks at night.
I wanted to love the "GF", but honestly probably would not stay here again. Parking is a nightmare unless you choose to pay the valet fee; at this writing it is $39/day. There was no parking available in the main lot, so we were forced to park near the DVC villas. Apparently this is often an issue late in the day because of visitors to the hotel's restaurants.
Our room was on the other side of the property, in the Boca Chica building. According to my pedometer, it was 1/3 of a mile walk. Not an issue in itself, especially if you love to walk, but try schlepping bags all that way. The valet who greeted us on arrival seemed disinterested once we said we preferred to self-park. I asked about dropping our bags and coming back for them after parking, and he said, "you'll have to go in and check with bell services." Contrast this with the Contemporary, where we stayed just a month prior - the valet took care of everything for us even though we self-parked, and greeted us so warmly.
Everything is in the main building, therefore, if your room is in one of the outer buildings, you'll have to travel to dine, visit the front desk (if your magic band doesn't open the door, for example) or shop. Again, not an issue until it rains. On goes the poncho - but, it would surely be nice to have a covered walkway.
I hardly ever write a critical review, because I know everyone tries his or her best. Many of the staff were outstanding, wanting to make you feel welcomed and valued. And, I love Disney, so there's that. Sadly, the GF fell short in a few respects. It will be the Contemporary or Poly, next time.

Room Location was great overlooking water with fireworks in full view every night. Room had couch on same wall as tv so not used when watching TV no chair so bed it was. Club level food and drink plentiful but staff standing around smiling but only removing dirty plates would be nice if they went around asking guests if they would like a beverage. Courtyard pool was nice but hot tub was not hot. Very expensive...one and done.

My fiancé and I got the privilege of experiencing the Grand Floridian Spa last week. Upon entering the Grand Floridian resort, you take the first right hand turn. There is a parking lot right behind the building and a very short walk to the front entrance. We were pleasantly greeted by the front staff. Since we were getting a couples massage, they had us each pick a stone that called out to us and place it in a small greenhouse in the lobby. They explained which each stone we chose meant. My fiancé was a bit concerned because the day prior he had almost thrown his back out and was in quite a bit of pain. He didn't want to skip the massage, but he also didn't want his back to be more messed up because of one. We voiced our concerns about it, and they were very accommodating. They also added on a soothing balm service that he really enjoyed and said help with the pain of his lower back. He liked it so much, he wanted to purchase some, but sadly they didn't sell that particular product. Wendy and Robert were our masseuse, and they were amazing. They knew this was our very first massage ever, so they were especially excited for us. Throughout the massage they kept checking in to make sure the conditions were right and there weren't any issues with pressure, etc. I especially liked the use of hot towels throughout the process. I loved the other amenities that were included at the spa. They had a waiting area with spa water and a few light snacks to munch on. They also had a sauna, hot tub and heated lounge chairs to use. The locker room and bathroom were also fully stocked with towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, mouth wash, etc. When they give you the tour in the beginning, they make sure you know that should you need anything that you cannot find to please reach out. You are given a plush robe and slippers to use during your stay, as well. The service and amenities here were absolutely top notch. I don't have one negative thing to say about the space or my experience, in general. My fiancé and I have decided that every trip going forward is going to include time at the spa. I am so excited to continue to try more of what is offered at the spa.

We spent eight nights at the Grand Floridian January 2023 to say goodbye to Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom. We enjoyed a newly remodeled room in the Boca Chica building. We had a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom from our lagoon facing accommodations. The refreshed room was very tastefully done and the beds were extremely comfortable. There was a lot of construction work going on, and two of the other buildings were closed for renovations. These renovations were being completed on both the inside and outside of the buildings. If you don't like the noise of construction machinery from 8am-5pm I'd check to make sure it's been completed before staying here. One of our favorite dinning spots at the resort Narcoossee's was also closed for renovations. Standard parking is now included in the price of your stay, however, finding a spot isn't always that easy, and you may have to park at one of two annex lots which is a pain and long walk. You can of course pay $33 for valet parking and that lot was only about a quarter full. All in all I love the Grand Floridian. I'm sure the parking issues will get figured out and the construction will be completed. To me this is the crown jewel of Disney Resorts. The cast members are wonderful here and bend over backwards to accommodate your needs. We'll be back!

I’ve been taking trips to Disney annually/bi-annually for my entire life. Our family absolutely loves Disney, and we have stayed many places on property over the years. We usually stay at the Contemporary, but it has been my dream to stay at the Floridian forever, and we finally made that dream come true this year for our family vacation.
This year, we did a split stay; two nights at the Wilderness Lodge (which we loved), and seven nights at the Floridian. Boy, was I disappointed. Disney markets the Grand Floridian as an opulent, meticulous, and elegant hotel, and while yes, the hotel itself on the outside is stunning and breathtaking, the service, cleanliness, and overall attention to detail is seriously lacking.
The rooms were not sparkling clean when we arrived, the carpets in the lobby, again while beautiful, were utterly filthy and black in high traffic places. The pool area was mediocre, and the splash area was (yes, beautiful) but running rampant with older kids and even adults acting crazy and ruining it for the little ones it was intended for. It’s also important to note that as I compare my stays at both Wilderness Lodge and the Floridian, the Wilderness Lodge splash pad was supervised by a lifeguard at all times, and the Floridian’s did NOT have a lifeguard at all. I also felt the pools in general were better kept at Wilderness Lodge.
Our room was also not service or maintained during this trip. I had to call down for towels and trash several times during our stay.
Another major downside to this resort was actually the monorail. They run consistently, and I love that you go through security at the resort which avoids additional lines at the parks, but this is only helpful in nice weather. We got stuck at Epcot during a massive thunderstorm. Monorails were expectedly shut down. What was shocking to me was that we had to take a bus to the ticket and transportation center to make another transfer (which I’m not sure how we would have done that since boats and monorails were both down) and they didn’t take us directly to the hotel. In paying a small fortune to stay at a very deluxe resort, I would expect to be transported directly to the resort like the rest of the buses were.
Overall, I would say Disney has some big kinks to work out at this resort for the price the Floridian comes with. Utterly disappointed, and would HIGHLY recommend rethinking staying here. Save money and get a better experience at a less expensive resort.

I had the chance to attend the GF several times with my own parents in the 80s and 90s. I kept a amazed memory of it. This time I came back with my husband and children. It was even better than I remembered.
The gardens are beautiful. Palm trees bow gently under the breeze, the lawns are pristine, the flowers delicate.
Our room (recently renovated like the rest of the resort seems to me) had a terrace overlooking Lake Seven Seas. The Magic Kingdom fireworks were seen every night. And the morning sunrise was what I would call a moving sight.
No queue for Check-in; useful and personalized information delivered by a charming cast member.
Every evening at 5pm marshmallows around a campfire are provided by the lake. There are also cartoons broadcast outdoors some evenings. The atmosphere is high and quiet despite the joy of families leaving or returning from exploring the parks.
We particularly appreciated the healthy options on the menu at Gasparilla’s. The other restaurants looked nice too but we did not visit them.
In any case, there is a unique atmosphere in the Great Floridian that owes much to the majestic Victorian architecture of the buildings among others. It is a simply sublime decor. I know nothing so beautiful.
I sincerely hope to be able to return one day.

I stayed with my brother for two nights while we did the Disney Parks. The location is incredible with a walking path to the Magic Kingdom and they were kind enough to allow us to check-in at 8 a.m. It was pretty downhill afterwards. Staff will smile and offer a hello but that is about it. There was no offer for luggage assistance despite both of us having a few bags. The room amenities are slim with mouthwash being the only advanced offering. The club level is perfectly adequate but so much money for what they actually provide. By and large the apathy from the staff stood out the most though. The club-level concierge that was hyped in pre-arrival communication did close to nothing. Everything was reactive with staff providing only the bare minimum. We were a big Grand Floridian family but this last visit seemed almost like a dare to keep staying. We did a 2-night package with parkhopper tickets for around $5k. The value for the room just isn’t there. I wish I had gone to the Four Seasons where they try a little harder.

No hot water at the sinks inside the rooms, and hot water is regulated inside showers to prevent scalding, so hope you enjoy Luke warm showers. No ice cream parlor, really blew my mind, I mean I’m on vacation and I can’t get some hand dipped ice cream the restaurant didn’t even have it on the dessert menu. Everything has been streamlined to make it easy for Disney, so they can just have pre packaged meals and items vs really catering to the guests, wants and pleasures. Guess that’s to be expected in today’s money hungry greedy corporate world, but i won’t nor would I stay at a Disney property for these simple reasons. Guess I just expected first class and I can’t even get hot water for 1700.00 dollars a night. Ridiculous beyond the imagination of Walt.

We were there in May and all of the work was being done on only one building. That building was closed to guests. Although we could see and hear the work being done while at the pool, it wasn’t too obtrusive. The main building, lobby and restaurants were not being redone when we were there.
There are more places to choose from in the Bay Lake area.
