Stayed in a lodge - excellent facilities. The staff was wonderful. The tours are worth while, and the people giving the tours at least equally worthwhile if not more. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Amazon. Quite special! We were lucky to see a harpey eagle nesting and her chick. The boat tour was also nice....

I've no idea what makes this an "eco lodge" but it is a nice, friendly lodge in the savannah. There is a central block with restaurant on the ground floor and bar, rest area on the upper floor. Closest to the central block are colourful individual wooden cabins and set a bit further away is a brick-built block with another...

On our parrot photography tour of Guyana regretably we only had two nights at Surama. What a magical place. We had one of the large stand alone rooms - from the outside beautifully decorated with paintings of local birds, views and people. The room was excellent; the huge mosquito net made it into an Arabian nights scene - and there...

Landing at Annai on our flight from G Town it's a short jeep ride to Surama Eco Lodge. Nestled close to the jungle you can experience jungle life from the comfort of your hammock up in the communal benab. The bar is a good meeting point for locals and visiting adventurers. The food is always tasty and plentiful, staff are...

Really enjoyed our visit. Rooms basic but fine. Food good. Our guide was excellent. Enjoyed a night walk and dugout canoe trip. Liked the fact that the whole comnunity is involved with the running of the lodge

I was here for almost a week and wanted to stay longer. The community members are the real highlight of this amazing eco-lodge. There is so much knowledge in the guides, and the pristine surroundings are amazing. The food was great and the water was clean. Electricity was available and the bunks were rustic but clean. I am so impressed...

An inspirational project with guides who are really committed to sharing their culture and ideals with everyone. Friendly, hugely helpful and amazing people who put into practice what the rest of us read about and preach should happen! The accommodation is comfortable and one group enjoyed using their hammocks for the first time in the benab. Showers are basic but...

In the middle of the Savannah this small Eco lodge had a lovely atmosphere with individual thatched roofed wooden chalets all with en-suite facilities and balcony. However were having a drought problem so the water was often non existent. Food was sourced locally and of a good standard. We spent one night here sleeping in hammocks beside the river which...

We stayed here for three days during a 17 day trip to Guyana. The staff were very friendly and the local guides very good. Our room was pleasantly rustic with a high thatched roof. This helps keep the room cool. There were many windows and we always had a pleasant breeze. Our bed was comfortable and the staff put down...

We loved Surama. It offers a great insight into how lots of Amerindians live in the Guyanese interior and wonderful rainforest experiences, especially the trip down to the hammocks at Carahaa (sp?) Some of the guides are very young but all are very knowledgeable and welcoming. The staff make every effort to make your stay a lovely one. The benabs...
