Had a few nights here recently, its a top spot, about 20mins drive from Halls Gap and Grampains. A bit isolated, need to go 15-20kms to Stawell for groceries, but thats part of the charm. Is set on a lake with a shallow swimming beach and boat ramp. Quiet spot, lots of tall gum trees and quite idyllic setting. Kids loved scootering around the park, blending with other kids. Facilities are nice and clean, games room, kitchen, playground and paid bbqs.
Also had basketball and tennis courts, acres of unpowered camping. People have complained about the fire rules, but seeing the amount of burnt bush near Pomonal, thats understandable. A lot of old caravan/homes there, most seemed run-down and abandoned, only a few occupied.
Cabins were nice enough, spacious, maybe $175/night for 2 adults and 1 child, a little pricey for what it is and a bit dated in areas, ie, the fridge/stove cookers was 30 years old. Bit still ok, mattresses good, nice balconies.
One issue is the hot water was on far too high, came out scalding, boiling hot, seriously dangerous with the kids. There was more cold tap than hot tap on. Our plumber told us he cant increase the heat on our own hot water at home for some legal reasons, so I dont understand why its so dangerously hot there.
Only complaints is some of the reception staff didn't come across as friendly for such a location, however I do understand they have to deal with a lot. Also seemed hard to get change, a change machine or something would be easier.
Otherwise a nice stay and we would return.

Bed was comfortable, spa bath cabin was good. Well equipped for what I needed. The view of the well used dump point was a bit ordinary. It put you off sitting on the deck, especially while eating breakfast. Is there a reason they don't put dump points next to toilets? Great view of sunset at Lake Fyans. Close to food option in Pomonel at Barneys and not that far to Halls Gap and Halls Gap Zoo.

We spent a weekend at Halls Gap and chose to return to Lake Fyans. The lake itself had a wide sandy beach. There were three or four boats out there and one brave paddler. Our cabin had all I need to cook a simple evening meal of steak, chips and vegies. The main room had a table and six kitchen chairs with couch comfortable enough that I dozed off. A separate bedroom was attached but locked. Could we lock the kids there? :-) There was a little outdoor area which would have been nice in warmer weather.
My partner appreciated the large well-lit mirror in the bathroom and a long mirror in the main bedroom. The shower provided plenty of hot water. The shop allowed me to pick up a Sunday paper before heading out for the day.

We arrived on a Sunday night to camp with 2 other couples. We were not very happy with our stay due to disruption by maintenance equipment every day, and no satisfaction to verbal requests for consideration, and no response to written complaints (3) after our we left site. The background - I paid some days prior to our visit and was told we would get a gate code sent to us when paid. This didn't happen. I rang up Sunday afternoon before we left Geelong to see what was happening. I was told an email was sent, but it was not in my inbox, spam or junk. Be that as it may, I completed check-in details over the phone (which was not mentioned was needed when I paid) and a code was sent. I wonder what would have happened if I arrived at 10pm, as I did, without having rung to check why a code hadn't been sent? On Monday, my wife did some washing, everything was brown from dirty water, we had to go to Stawell to rewash the washing - not the camps problem, and you gave us our washing machine money back, but it set the scene! Also on Monday pumps were going within about 10m of our site to clean/pump out the nearby toilets ( both mens and womens). Also on Monday, maybe Tuesday, a very noisy petrol powered edger was used all around our sites for at least 2 hours. Then, Tuesday/Wednesday a petrol blower, and then a petrol whipper snipper. When was it going to stop? It didn't. Thursday a petrol/diesel ride on mower was in action within metres of our sites going over whipper snippered areas and his own mown areas for another one and a half hours from about 11 to 1pm - lunch time on our sites. I asked the driver to consider the dust and noise he was creating and to consider our amenity. He was not interested in what I was saying, so I also spoke to management, also to no avail. I would have expected an employee, if approached by a paying guest in this type of situation, would have ceased what he was doing and sought advice- didn't happen. He continued and my wife again approached him for some consideration, and he didn't even bother to turn the mower down and both had to shout to be heard over the mower. As can be seen, we didn't have ONE day at this park without considerable disturbance from a petrol powered device The whole of the L section where we stayed (which is not very big) of the park would be vacant from 10am to 2 pm on Friday, after we left. All that was needed was 1 hour of that time to place 2 staff with a clear unobstructed area to mow and trim This was all that we asked in my complaint to management. We frequent caravan parks regularly, both over peak periods, and off periods and never have i experienced such disruptive maintenance
If nothing else, I think management should be able to understand that maintenance every day with petrol powered implements right on the door step of paying guests is unreasonable.
We would like to revisit this park next year, but if this is likely to happen again, we would not do so..

There was 11 of us, cost was over $1400 for 3 nights in 3 seperate cabins. We had 6 children the eldest being 9, the swimming pool is not heated, the jumping pillow was flat( insurance reason they say) Canoe’s you could hire but were broken, the bbqs you had to pay for (they made their money), the games room you need gold coins to play anything, the play park is not under 5 friendly, no phone service, wifi provided as long as you sat near the office…. The beds in the cabins were disgustingly hard, i could go on and on. Oh and i left an expensive pair of Pyjamas hanging on the back of the bathroom door and rang the afternoon i got home, but you guessed it, they weren’t there…. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEYHERE

Visitors have to pay $10 per head. We are both in our 70s, pensioners and wanted to call in and visit friends that were staying at this park. We were only wanting to stay an hour but the rather rude office lady wasn't interested in what we said. Pay $20 for the two of us or don't go in. We have travelled extensively around Australia in our van and have never come across this before. The park looked nice enough but I wouldn't recommend it. G'day Parks said each park creates their own charges and they have no say in it.

Booked this place well in advance leading up to school holidays, we were coming from Geelong to visit family for the weekend, when booking told them we had dogs nothing was mentioned that this was going to be an issue, then we rang a day ahead just to clarify we had dogs again after having to fill out a stay form and were told no dogs in peak times which is fine, so we cancelled the booking. Management were rude and wouldn’t give us a refund as we didn’t give 30 days notice and then was kicking up a storm about giving a credit. Very understanding about the no dogs it’s more about the rude abrupt staff. Will not be trying to re booking here.

When you read the other reviews that comment about being treated like prisoners and a heap of rules l can honestly say that they’re not wrong. We were staying in the non powered section that still cost us $69per night and a minimum of 3 night booking for a dust bowl that was overbooked. There was clearly no COVID-19 limits on the amount of people being booked in and the toilets where disgusting with queues of people lining up outside. There wasn’t a lot of happy campers for a place that was so busy. Even when I made mention to security his response was “ if you don’t like it leave”. I’ve been caravanning for over 25 years and can say this is the worst I’ve ever experienced

Response from Darrin Palensky, Owner at Lake Fyans Holiday Park
Responded 7 Mar 2021
Perhaps a caravan park is not the destination for you and your group, rules and guidelines are in place so everyone can enjoy their holiday not just a select few. The CFA "Can I or Can't I" is very clear on when fires during the fire danger period are permitted, the rules are all common sense, and having a fire when there are 44km wind gusts doesn't make sense. You are provided with our park guidelines and the CFA's and when doing your online COVID declaration agree to our T&C's.

Lovely setting. Great no contact booking and entry to park. Grassed sites. Ammenities were very clean. Camp kitchen etc not open or available, guessing due to COVID which made our stay a little difficult as the BBQ was hopeless plus it’s user pay. A shame there is no recycling. Overall a beautiful park.
