Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pub has atmosphere, publican is friendly, food is supreme. I took a group of 7 here and enjoyed a wonderful time together. Suggest taking the time to view and read each of the numerous newpaper clippings, photos and other memorabilia hung on the alls

Drove 2 1/2 hours to get there and overall was disappointed. The food and plate size was very good but the demeanour of the owners was far less than a friendly country greeting. Ordered a drink and got it wrong. Sent wrong meal to the table and inferred it was our fault for taking the wrong one even though they served it to the table!! Wasn’t that busy on Saturday afternoon so no excuse for lack of enthusiasm and rudeness.

Good old fashioned hospitality from Gayle and Evan. If your ever out those ways we'll worth a stop in. Great country get away, nice comfortable rooms, delicious food and friendly people. Only 35 minutes from Toowoomba

Two of us dropped by for dinner. A real historic country pub with plenty of atmosphere....slightly noisy.....and busy!! Had to wait a while for meals...but the locals provided a bit of entertainment...free nibbles at the bar....We ordered a cheese & bacon garlic bread for an entree which was just outstanding. Mains were 300g Rib fillet, salad and mushroom sauce....steak was not cooked to order...came out medium instead of medium rare.....usually they are perfect at this pub.....great little salad and crunchy chips. The second meal was pork chops with papaya & mango sauce...absolutely delicious....cooked perfectly....no room for dessert!!

Next time you are travelling near Nobby, between Allora and Toowoomba, make sure you call in for a hearty meal. Served with a smile and in such a historical bush pub setting. This pub was where the Dad & Dave classic was written. Good meals and good value.

Steel Rudd wrote his On our Selection in this vicinity and its a great piece of Australiana. The walls, halls and ceilings are decorated with memorabilia of the era, the author and also Sister Kenny, the polio angel whose museum is across the road. Was a great place to visit ...and stay overnight. We went to boost the Bush after the fires....and had a great time.. The owner was very hospitable. and the bar staff were fun! Be prepared Food and wine servings are unnecessarily HUGE ...as was the complimentary breakfast but I am not a fan of frozen veg.

Camped across the road from pub at a free camp. Pub has a wealth of history including a lot about Steel Rudd’s Dad & Dave stories. We enjoyed drinks and a yarn with locals and barmaid Casey, who is definitely an asset to the pub. Cannot say so much for the male publican, who must have been having a bad day, as his hospitality and communication skills were sorely lacking. His wife was far more pleasant. Apparently the pub gets very busy on weekends. Meals were large and basic but priced a little higher than pub meals in most small country pubs.

We visited this pub for the second time in about 5 years with our car club. the pre ordered meals were well presented, plentiful and delicious. The six or seven desserts on offer, were all home cooked and absolutely delicious. Our compliments to the chef! This charming old pub is full of memorabilia, and the countryside is so soothing to we city slickers! Highly recommended! Well done!
