Considering the region, it is a nice place with a reasonable price. They only have electricity and wifi using a generator and this can bring some challenges like in the day we stay there. They had a problem with the generator but does not take long and doesn't change my good opinion about the place. The view is awesome and...

This is all about the location and the view. Fog does roll in, but that can't be helped. When it burns off, you have a great view. Rooms are clean and comfortable. A little dated, but not bad. Bed was comfortable. The price to quality ratio is about right. It is slightly per night than a typical hotel, but the...

We stayed here in Dec 2012. We had high expectations but when we arrived for our 1 night on our road trip honeymoon the main lodge was shrouded in darkness. Our keys and an informal note (with no emergency phone no.) was taped to the door! We found our cabin, which although overall was cosy in appearance, was dirty and...

.........Smack-dab in the middle of stunning Big Sur country, you will find this quaint throwback to the "Motor Inn" days of lodging with the history to prove it. It's been around since the early 1900's. With stunning views, comfortable accommodations, and a surprisingly innovative restaurant, it has all you need as a base to explore the beautiful surroundings that are...

My husband and I decided to pop into this random looking place for lunch and were shocked when we walked in. The restaurant has breathtaking views of the ocean! We were able to sit right next to the window and whale watch (yes they can see whales from their view point). I ordered their famous fish and chips- they are...

Our stay at Lucia Lodge was maybe the best part of the whole trip. The setting is gorgeous (right on the rim), there is a big choice of places to sit outside and enjoy the ocean views, the cabins are charming, cosy and equipped with everything you need, the beds large and soft. Cabins 7-10 are the best located, but...

There aren't words fabulous enough to describe this place - it is heaven on earth. The cabins are quaint, private and absolutely adorable. And the view... the view is priceless!! I stayed in cabin #10 - if you have the choice - this one is soooo worth it. It has a private seating area around the side of the cabin,...

I need to first point out that expectations for this property must be very different from that of a Hyatt, Four Seasons, Fairmont etc... This is completely unique experience and therefore very difficult to draw comparisons in terms of 'bang for buck'. Yes, you do pay a lot for what you get, yes the rooms need some work, but they...

I camped 9 of 12 of my nights on this trip; maybe this influences my review, and maybe not. All I know is that every aspect of my stay was top notch. Too many people may worry about stuff like wobbly doors and keys; no big-screen; no Wi-Fi (this place, btw, has it); no valet service; "not in Big Sur"...

We were here at the end Feb. for two nights in room #1. It was my mother's birthday and we decided to meet in Big Sur. I should have been more thorough with my research before booking the room. The lodge is not located in Big Sur proper. It's about 30 min. south on Highway 1, just past the town...
