Big sur was packed because of spring break. I was heading south from Carmel and there seemed to be more people and cars in Big Sur than I had ever seen. So I continued on and came across this little place. There are cabins but I stayed in one of the rooms above the shop. very nice room, no TV...

Arrived March 4th in Big Sur. Camping with friends in tents. The storm on Saturday forced us to pack up and find a hotel. Found Gorda Springs Resort nearby. We arrived wet and freezing at 8pm. John was very helpful renting us a room. We stayed in Cedar South a 2 bedroom shared bath cabin. The cabin was clean and...

As many travellers on Highway 1 find, we were quickly running out of time and needed fuel and a place to stay. We stopped at the fuel stop (fuel was $6 a gallon!) and enquired about overnight accommodation. We were 3 couples travelling together and were rudely offered three rooms for $450 for the night. Once taxes were added, it...

This place definitely exploits the fact that there are very few hotels along this section of the coastline and the prices were by far the highest (double) that we paid anywhere else along our California and Oregon Coast roadtrip. That said, the cabin we booked had two bedrooms, both with outstanding views of the bay and was clean and well...

The Whale Watcher's Cafe was horrible, dirty, bathrooms were disgusting, expensive (aka a rip-off), rude service, and sawing and cutting while eating. There is no service so I couldn't read the reviews! Recommend burning a $100 on horrible food and place. Dirty!!! Half a mile up is TreeBones which I wish we had tried or pack snacks and plan to...

See my review for "Whale Watcher's Cafe" under restaurants. This is the overpriced hotel associated with it. Along with $6/gallon for gas! The room was about $200 for the night, and was about as gross as I've ever seen. Old junky furniture, stained carpeting, two pillow cases stunk of someone's body odor, only one bed in room (wanted 2), no...

We stopped at the little cafe attached to the Springs Resort, in order to get some breakfast. The man who served us was cheeky, fun and very friendly! We had a nice breakfast (they were accommodating with some of my fussy requests). Lovely views and free parking. Great place for a quick food stop, with some lovely landscaping and curious...

we were looking for a rustic room with a view of the ocean and that is what we got. The rooms are simple and you can walk to the beach. we ate at the restaurant and had a burger and ribs and we had no complaints

Like others we stopped here on the drive south looking for food and a bathroom! Busy little place with a great view and petrol if you need it. Service was good though I felt for the woman behind the counter as she seemed to be doing it. Very friendly and approachable and not too long a wait consider how busy...

Gorda Whale Watchers Lodgings. Paid $200 + tax for a spacious room with a heater in a cupboard and a gas fire in the bedroom but no air con, TV, fridge or microwave. Having said that this saved us having to drive further to find somewhere on a Friday evening and it is centrally located between Carmel and San Simeon....
