Big Sur is overcrowded. You should only stay here if everything else is booked. The campground is basically a parking lot with sites on top of each other. It is very overpriced for what you get. The campground "host" is just a rude guy in a booth that makes you show a tag to get in. There was an all...

Big Sur is a tourist mecca, so let’s be frank. Everything is overblown here. Calling the Fernwood a resort is a bit of a stretch. It’s actually a highway motel with a decent bar and general store attached. Don’t get me wrong… we had an ok time here. But don’t think this is a fancy resort. We stayed in the...

After seeing a review in Sunset my wife and I planned what we thought would be a romantic weekend in the At Adventure Tents at Fernwood for our anniversary. It was anything but romantic. It was a great idea to create a glam tent camping experience with a dedicated shower and bath but they really blew it on execution. Look...

First: no phones in the rooms. I had to acquire a WI-FI pass code from the General Store. (These are not intended as negatives) Second: The motel's website properly represents what one can expect. After a day of PHC 1 driving, this cozy throw-back to the 1950s proved rewarding. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was firm. Vanity...

Unless you are wanting a really unique souvenir - a cockroach infestation - this is not the place for you. Had to wash down EVERYTHING before I could even bring it into my home. small room, minamal furnishings, no plugs near bed, broken hairdryer... Extremely loud band in grill next door till late at night.

It's very tranquil, you fill yourself all along with nature. Good small cottages for up to 6 people. There is a place for camping too. It's so quiet, that when you up during the night you can here nothing:)

My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins at Fernwood from July 1-July 4, 2013. It was exactly what we wanted - and more. The cabin contained a full kitchen (less a microwave - no problem there though), a living room, full bathroom and bedroom with queen bed (don't expect a luxury bed - you're camping), as well...

The area is spectacular. The views are some of the best in the country. The workers were very nice and accommodating. The resort is dated, but it kind of adds to the charm. The place was very clean. The beds are probably as old as the place.

We (my father, brother and myself) had a great stay at the Fernwood Resort in one of the motel rooms with a fireplace. Though it is just off the highway, it felt peaceful. The room was perfectly comfortable and clean, all of the staff were really nice and helpful, and we had everything we needed nearby. From the market to...

We stayed in several different accommodations of all levels during a lengthy trip up the PCH and Fernwood stands out among our favorites. We first thought we would stay in one of the tent cabins and the attendant was nice enough to let us look at the different models available. The camping area was nice and we wanted to stay...
