Great location and very peaceful.  Only a short walk to the beach. A little run down but that adds to the charm of the place. the owners a lovely and welcoming. We tried out the spa that was warm and relaxing. WiFi was free with good connection from our cottage. Only thing I would change is the shower head (sprays...

I just finished a Yoga Training Immersion and we were fortunate enough to enjoy this little piece of paradise for 2 weeks! The owners were fantastic and friendly - available for anything you could possibly need throughout your stay. The cottages are quaint and cozy with all the comforts of home. Don't miss the sauna and spa - especially on...

We stayed with friends in two cabins for the spring challenge event. With a whole pile of kids who had a huge amount of fun on the good old kiwi rope swing and we all enjoyed our stay, It was very relaxed and had all that we needed. Highly recommended, friendly owner. Warm and lots of pillows :-)

Along with four other friends, my partner and I stayed in Chalet 6 at The Sandcastle for four nights. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by owner, Steve and dog, Sal and felt very much at home in our extremely well-equipped chalet. We had come to the area to climb and were delighted to find out that a popular climbing...

I spent 3 nights at The Sandcastle celebrating Retirement as well as my Birthday. A beautiful setting surrounded by bush, farm land & sea views in the distance. The Chalets are very quiet (to say the least) & peaceful. Just the sound of birds, no traffic, bliss! Best value for money in Golden Bay. 'Pet Friendly' caught my eye and...

I spent 10 days at the Sandcastle with my husband and 4 kids. Steve, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. His dog is super adorable and she was a great friend to my kids. The morning croissants were delicious! It lacks an oven, but other than that, we found the cottage very well equipped, everything was clean and comfortable....

Very laid back place which is probably a little under maintained. Steve is a friendly host but the attention to detail is a bit lacking. The microwave hadn't been cleaned in a good long while, and we had to request sheets for the second bed we needed to use. Wifi was fast but only available near the reception area, not...

Hi, thanks for taking time to review and reflect back. Internet is getting priority attention but is not that easy in these more remote places. Yes, we like to keep the price affordable and the Sandcastle fun to stay. cheers Steve and Hayley

This place is nestled in the midst of nowhere in pohara. Quite calm and serene. You can here the birds chirping throughout the day.. No noise of cars, vehicle or any sort of man made stuff. Worth the money. And Steve is really great and helpful too.
