Initially seemed to be a standard Motel but after a while we began to appreciate the comfortable room and surroundings. The lovely food and the friendly and effusive attention of "Mine Host" Steve who could not do enough to make sure our stay was a pleasure. Which it was.

6 tired ladies were treated to a beautifully cooked and presented meal, very comfortable rooms and excellent service from Peter and Steve. There was white linen and silver cutlery personalised menus and a selection of lovely local wines. The spa helped the aching body. They went that 1 step extra to make us feel special.

Our wonderful host Steve really looked after all seven of us for the 4 days we stayed enjoying Pohara Beach and picturesque environs. The rooms were beautifully presented, each one individually. The evening lounge gatherings were fun and informative, our every whim indulged, the food delicious! I'm very confident to recommend this special place.

The warm and welcoming service, the immaculate quality of the luxurious rooms, the beautiful breakfasts each morning, and the perfect location for exploring Abel Tasman... this place was a major highlight of our 2-week NZ tour. Best dinner we had on the trip, too! I can't wait to go back. Thanks Steve, Pete & Team for a fantastic experience!

Ratanui Lodge lies in the small, seaside town of Pohara on the eastern end of Golden Bay. As such it makes a good base for visiting the Abel Tasman Park and Farwell Spit as well as Golden Bay itself. The 10 rooms of the lodge fan out from either side of the central building which houses the reception area and...

We stayed at Ratanui Lodge when visiting friends in Pohara and couldn't believe what a gem of a place it was. Steve who runs Ratanui is absolutely amazing, so welcoming, he knows his stuff when it comes to making guests feel at home and providing first class food and service. Our room was huge with one of the largest beds...

When you arrive at Ratanui Lodge, in our case in beautiful warm sunshine, Steve insists that you sit outside your room with a glass of beer/wine, whilst you soak up the pleasant atmosphere. Later, it is cocktails outside the Dining Room. Once you have chosen your meals and wine and are ready to eat, you are taken through to well-laid...

My wife and I just finished at 15 day jaunt through New Zealand and spent 3 days at the Ratanui Lodge in Pohara. This leg of the trip was meant specifically to see the Abel Tasman and this gem of a hotel sits right on the western edge of the park. Pohara is a sleeply little town and about an...

When deciding where to stay to visit Abel Tasman NP there was options on the east entrance. I decided to visit via the northern entrance. I'm so glad I did. This is such a pretty town and a beautiful lodge. Steve and the staff made you feel welcome from the moment you entered the front door. The room were immaculate....
