My son and I stayed at this hotel to break up a drive from Sydney to Melbourne.

The room was fairly clean and the aircon worked very well. The beds were comfy and there were a selection of pillows of different thicknesses on the bed to choose from. They provided soap/ shampoo/ conditioner.
The wifi was good and there was good water pressure.

We were on the second level of the motel, but we could park right outside and go up the stairs. The room was generous in size and included a queen bed, single bed, table, sofa TV and kitchen area of sorts.

Reception were very friendly and helpful. We checked in around 7:30pm and they’d left the key with the club that is on the same site in a nearby building. I had asked in advance if there was a microwave in the room and they were so kind, they put one in for us! It was very handy. There were no plates/cutlery which was fine, but they provided a cutting board and a knife as well as a new chux and a bottle of dishwashing liquid under the kitchen sink. There was a little bar fridge.

The main reason for only 3/5 stars is because the neighbours had a shower at 4:30am and the sound of the water was so loud in our room it woke me up, then I couldn’t get back to sleep, which partly defeated the point of stopping overnight, to ensure I wasn’t tired when I was driving. I think there is no lagging/noise insulation around the water pipes in the wall. Having said that, I am a light sleeper.

This is the second time we have stayed at this very good motel. It is away from main roads, so isn't affected by traffic noise at night, backs onto the golf course, so has pleasant views, and some rooms even have spa baths. Staff are both friendly and efficient.

Rooms are meticulously clean and contain all the basics. With a coat of paint on the brick walls, some accent colour on the plasterwork and a bit of a furniture upgrade, this place would easily become a boutique hotel. The only negative that I can write of is that two bottles of water are placed in the fridge, but there is no warning that these bottles are not complimentary and we only discovered this when we were billed for water after leaving. Having said this, we will definitely return to this nice little place.

Our 2 nights on a stay and play package was excellent. The room was very comfortable, overlooking the course and was thoughtfully finished with utensils, microwave etc. Staff were all great in restaurant and bar and a terrific golf course.

Came to the Bistro for dinner. Had looked up the menu on the website before coming and the prices were quite expensive so I had fairly high expectations of good food and was sadly deeply disappointed. This is more of an overly family friendly, cafeteria sort of place. They give you beepers which beep excessively loudly when your food is ready so there is a constant background piercing ring noise the whole time.

My mum has a severe allergy to chilli and capsicum which we told to the waitress and yet her food was served with capsicum and then when we returned it and asked for a replacement with no capsicum or chilli it then came with chilli and we had to return it again.

I ordered a carbonara pasta and it wasn't any good. There was way, way too much cream and very little bacon.

I wouldn't come back here again if we could avoid it. Expensive, poor service and poor food.

Great Quiet half way spot to break the drive between Sydney and Melbourne. Great roast every night. Great big Breakfast. When it is recommended by Uni students, you know it is great value for money

The room was very good, upstairs, but that was ok. Bed comfortable and clean, nice shower, we had a nice little balcony and were able to have the door open for fresh air overnight. Only negative the tv was difficult to tune.
We also dined in the bistro, great value meals, drinks etc. Bistro staff were a bit unfriendly though. Parking good, reception staff nice too.

Stayed here on a stopover on the way to Mildura. Late check in at the bar inside the club which was easy, closed at midnight so I knew that there would still be someone there when I arrived. Good size room, lots of bench space in the bathroom, large towels, good size fridge, kitchen utensils with kitchen bench, comfortable warm bed, parking at the front of the room. Overall really happy with the accommodation. Could see the other facilities (pickleball etc) but unfortunately our travel plans didn't allow us to use them. The only negative I had was we were upstairs right near the stairway so had a few noisy people walking up and down the stairs during the night. Not a complaint about the resort, just the inconsiderate guests.

Stayed at the Thurgoona Golf Club Resort Motel, well a bit disappointed, room just ok, no electric blankets for the very cold night, split system does not work well. Continental breakfast could be presented a lot better as it was just left on the bench as well as replenished which did not happen had to ask for replenishment as we were there for a week. Floor was not vacuumed for the week. The door to get in motel room terrible had to put your shoulder to door to open then had to slam door for it to shut. And very dull room for light needs a brighter light in bed area very dark.

Response from Thurgoona Country Club Resort, General Manager at Thurgoona Country Club Resort
Responded 7 July 2020
Hi Robyn, Thank you for your feedback, we would like to apologise you were a bit disappointed. The split systems do take a while to warm up therefore they need to be left on all day with the cold weather here. We will ensure to check housekeeping is servicing the room to our usual high standards. Unfortunately, with the extreme weather our doors get some movement from time to time which can make the locks stick, we are sorry about that and have since had a tradesmen have a look. Thank you for your feedback. Kind Regards.

The room was a great size and we could move around easily. There were 8 lights but even with them all switched on it was too dark to read, The bulbs need upgrading. It had a good bathroom and lovely ooutlook over the golf couorse - lots of trees. The restaurant was very busy and one of our choises was unavailable - they ran out. It was Pub style food and nothing special. Our room was quiet but any room is only as good as the neighbours you are lucky/unlucky enough to have.

Paulw1503 has given most sites worth visiting - also Submarine exhibition at Holbrook. Liquorice and Chocolate Factory at Junee. Good shopping centre in Albury, Botanical Gardens and Monument Hill War memorial. Also Aboriginal sites and walk at Gateway Island Wodonga and drawings at Mt Pilot near Chiltern.

I'm not really sure. But the ground floor rooms open onto a kind of patio and the golf course, so I imagine that dogs are allowed. You could ask them by email; the staff are very obliging. Enjoy your stay!
