Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Also known as Shorties, this place is huge and by the look of it, it needs to be as it was packed. There are many different levels to choose from, and if it’s sport that you want to watch their plenty of screens all over the place. There is even a designated kids area for those with younger children. We had mussels which had a fabulous source with it, schnitzel, which there is a large variety to choose from, and I tried three little pigs burger which is a messiest burger to eat I’ve ever tried, but was also very yummy. If it’s a local pub that you want to go to, this is the place for you.

Shortland Hotel is a great place to meet up with family and friends and suitable for all ages. They have something on every night from cheap food to raffles and special events. Reasonable price food and delicious. The staff were lovely and I'm lucky I can walk there from my house.

We dropped into Shortland Hotel for lunch. Food was great and well priced. Best crumchy chips Ive had in a longtime. Had the spicy chicken burger which was delicious and the rump steak. Very good. Service was friendly. It was clean and there are wraps, melts and a daily curry as well. Highly recommend!

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in the Shortland Hotel accomodation. It is outdated but it’s clean and comfortable. Shower was nice and hot and the aircon was nice and cool. Can’t complain about that. Restaurant looked nice and the menu has a range of options.

Been twice. we're just awful both times. First time they were not willing to make vegan food. I asked if i could have a wrap on the kids menu and pay extra as I'm a adult, the answer was no. So i got hot chips? As that was the only option for me.
Second time was a business meeting, had a pumpkin and feta salad as i don't eat cheese, I asked for no cheese, the staff came over after seated and said they had no pumkin left, they suggested we add meat, but the 2 of us were veggo's. So we said no thank you.
The salads came out both with cheese on them, we said sorry no cheese.
Then again they came out, they looked great! After one bite i found feta!!! They had just picked it off the top! Oh my god.... i just asked for my money back and went to Oliver's down the road before heading back to the office.
On that note, my manager had bugs in her salad also.
Awful.
They have lost 17 people a month and all our team meetings we hold there on top of that.

I have visited the Shortland hotel for a few times now, the food is consistently good and great value. The meals are satisfying with a great variety offering great pub meals but also a modern dishes pleasing all tastes. Service has been consistently friendly. Would recommend a visit if you enjoy awesome food.

The motel room was in good working order and had clean linen. The rooms on the lower level had their own en-suite.

The property charged a 1.5% surcharge and it was not mentioned at all. I only found out upon checking my statement because I also wasn’t provided with a receipt.

The staff were always polite and friendly.

Shortys bistro presents an interesting menu, with a range of options. The pork belly 'lollypops' were nice and tasty. The special grilled salmon with squid ink spaghetti was enjoyable, although too much garlic. The slow cooked prime rib was very dissapointing and was sent back. The steak was smothered in rich sweet bbq glaze; not mentioned on menu. The replacement meal, scotch fillet with pepper sauce, was cooked perfectly. The pepper sauce was tasteless and a commercial gravy mix with a few peppercorns. All in all a bit disappointing.
