Such a tranquil experience at Yarralen Retreat! Nothing was too much trouble for Julie and Cliff. The property, animals and rooms are well looked after. The Magnesium Pool, Billabong Walk, Peacocks and the amazing glass features were favourites. We even got to utilise their new deck with stunning views for some Restorative Yoga! We will definitely be back! Thank you Julie, Cliff and Nicole for sharing with us your beautiful space ❤
The website showed a beautiful room with a comfy bed and a bath. Instead I was given a broken van (for myself and 5 year old). It wasn’t clean (the pillows were full of black mould) and full of mouse droppings. The mouse woke us up multiple times in the night and was running along the bed. The owner’s attitude was pretty much get over it and pay up otherwise we will call the police on you. I have never experienced anything so bad in this country. Please see photos attached of what I was offered and what I received.
My partner and I only stayed here for a short period, but absolutely fell in love with the place. Julie was lovely and the whole atmosphere was just peaceful. Definetly coming back for a longer stay..
Do not be deceived by the pictures & description, this property is a mess inside & out. We booked & paid upfront for 5 nights, cut our losses after 2 nights. We have left a more thorough review on Booking.com if you are interested,
We booked weeks in advance as I had my parents in law visiting Australia for the first time. When I arrived I called Julie and she didn’t even know what day it was. Very quickly it became clear she had double booked one of the rooms we booked. Instead of being apologetic about it she tried to blame us (we had the printed paperwork from booking.com with us). She then became very aggressive yelling about Silicon Valley and told us to f$@k off. Glad we didn’t give her our money as the space looked nothing like advertised. Actually flagergasted by her behaviour.
DISGRACEFUL. Photos in ads are VERY old... Plant growth can't lie. UNISEX amenities block with only curtains on the showers, 2 toilets (door didn't close let alone lock on one cubicle the other toilet had a shower curtain for a door. I found the owner, Julie, a pain in the rear, nosy and gossips about everything and everyone, I didn't need that. When I complained about SOME things I was blocked and refused contact. Totally unprofessional.
You need a car to get to this place but the location is the charm. Secluded, peaceful. Great place to recharge the batteries. And still a short car ride from the beaches and other great places in the area. Room was clean, bed very comfortable... Definitely a place to recommend.
Our booking was made only a few days before our stay. Julie offered us a caravan which was a recent addition to their accommodation options. The atmosphere was quiet, with only 15-20 minutes to the beaches and shops. Julie is welcoming and friendly- full of conversation and energy. We were pleased with our choice and enjoyed being close to the outdoor kitchen/dining area and unisex bathroom amenities block. The lilypond walk is a must- beautiful and serene. The bird life is abundant with the local peacocks visiting during the day. Cicadas added to the natural insect noises. There was a open fire area to sit around and chat with other campers. Thank you Julie for your hospitality and we wish you all the best for the future.
Yarralen provides a really special camping experience. On a beautifully cared space at the back of the property, circled by trees, shaded walking track to the billabong, it's private, quiet .. space for an open fire, great spacious sheltered bush kitchen with gas hot plates and barbecue, showers and toilets .. all with a personal touch, whether cabinet choice or painted shower block, or garden .. it's both rustic and quite lovely. You can make yourself really comfortable here. Julie is a welcoming hostess, wandering peacocks, early morning kangaroos, water dragons at the billabong and a morning chorus of birds are all part of the backdrop. Beaches close by are lovely too. Do yourself a favour and visit!
Yarralen Retreat was a great weekend getaway. Julie the host was welcoming and upgraded our room, which was a lovely surprise. The studio room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, with cooking facilities and an outside sitting area. The fridge was stocked with fresh eggs, local avocados and fruit....such a nice touch. We enjoyed the magnesium pool and forest walks. The gardens are lush and interwoven with sculpture, gorgeous peacocks, fish pond and art pieces. The retreat is just minutes away from spectacular beaches and scenic drives. Well worth visiting, thanks 😀
