Detailed Reviews
We had a great time in Valle di Banne. Nice rooms with balcony, free parking and excellent breakfast. The owner was extremely helpful and supported all our needs. The perfect location to visit Trieste but to have also a place to relax! We will come back with pleasure!

Many 3 star hotels in Italy are really 1 or 2 star hotels with a flat screen tv. What's on offer are tiny, tiny rooms, paper thin walls and lots of eccentricities. This hotel is none of these...miles better than anything in Trieste. It takes planning though if you have no transport. From Trieste station Bus 39: ask the driver for the Banne stop: and be aware that not every 39 bus stops at Banne. The bus from Trieste stops at an old military barracks: go down the road to the right and the Hotel is on the right (about 150 metres). At the hotel the bus to Trieste stops literally outside the front door of the hotel. And the hotels sells bus tickets! Simples!!
Alternatively it's a 20 minute walk to Opicina on a cycle track through a wood. Nice!!
Also super nice are the hotel staff...

The four of us searched for a one night stay. How we ended up at Alla Valle di Banne defines serendipity! Three hours passed, we were tired, and it was dark; turned right onto a narrow residential street, and there it called ‘albergo!’ Fortunately one of us knew Italian; and thank the Lord two rooms were vacant. Home away from home, we ended up staying for three nights.
No frills place and so satisfying! Clean, comfortable and friendly. Breakfast, parking and in room wifi included. Dinner available at reasonable price, and food was homey good. Marco, owner, assured our comfort and satisfaction. In fact he helped me out of a situation. I wanted to bring dessert to a family dinner; I too tired to seek as I already did not know where to go, so I asked if he might have a dessert to sell - I remembered the yummy pear tart served on first night. He brought out a St. Honore Ice Cream Cake - yum! A hit at dinner!
Alla Valle di Banne was a convenient hub. We visited relatives, toured around Trieste and crossed border to Slovenia’s Postojna Caves and Predjama Castle.
Caveat. Bring ear plugs; walls are thin - can hear tv and neighbor snoring. Need a car to get around.

We have chosen the place due to parking troubles in Trieste and were satisfied with the stay. Simple standard in the rooms but you have everything you need. A new guy in the reception (it was his 2nd day at work) spoke good English and was very helpful - hotel sells even bus tickets. We tok bus 39 to the city center and it tok us approx. 25 min but on the way back, the bus driver used 55 (!) minutes to our bus stop and he was driving like crazy! I would not recommend to walk there in the evening - area seems deserted and bit isolated. Our GPS did not take us directly to the front of the hotel and we missed information/hotel name with an arrow at the nearest crossing. Just a suggestion for the hotel to facilitate arrival of future guests. Wifi was too weak and did not really function i our room on the 2nd floor - we had to go downstairs to the reception/restaurant area.

Do you want to experience real Italian life out in the country and up in the hills near the city of Trieste, perhaps before a cruise? If so, this is the place for you! The proprietors, Marco and Marina went out of their way to attend to every detail to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Not only is their breakfast substantial, we were astonished with the dinners they put out. Should we return to Trieste, we will stay there again - it was that nice and so convenient, bus 39 stops in front of their hotel multiple times a day - no need for a taxi.

Lovely little hotel just off the highway, but away from it all...very convenient if you are by car. Good room, good breakfast and nice people running it. watch out...the floors are connected by fire doors and it is a bit confusing

Our large room with balcony was very nice. The #39 bus from the central station in Trieste stops in front of the hotel. The hotel has plenty of parking, it's own restaurant which served our more than adequate included breakfast. Dinner is served from 1930-2100 for 17 Euro per person, it consists of an appetizer buffet, a 1st & 2nd plate plus 1/4 litre of wine, bread, a bottle of water, and dessert delivered to your table by your friendly waitress who will translate the menu to your language. The absolute best part of our stay was Marina who is the owner along with Marco, she took us to the Opicina Tram and also sold the bus tickets we needed to return. Everything possible was done to make our visit the best it could be, we would definitely return and will recommend it to our military & non military friends. My wife & I are happy we were lucky enough to find this Hotel. Tony Carbone, USN Retired

Trieste: Alberto Alla Valle di Banne.
Great place to stay off the beaten track. Very clean and although full up, very quiet. Towels were nice as was the bedding and decor. Bed was very comfortable. Was simple but very nice, desk, TV, free wifi, parking. Also breakfast was included and was fresh and plentiful. Owners Marco and Marina were very helpful showing us things on the map and suggesting restaurants. Marina spoke a little English but Marco was quite fluent which was helpful. We had a wonderful view from our balcony. Excellent value for the price.

We enjoyed our room in the tiny village of Banne. Marco and his staff are amazing. For a small additional price, they will also provide breakfast and dinner and the selection and quality of food is very nice. The village is convenient to Trieste. There is a bus that stops immediately in front of the hotel that will take you into Trieste.

A wonderful refuge in the hills, ideal for a stay in Trieste or environs. The owners are truly welcoming and proud of their hotel and staff. The coffee at breakfast is Illy, this is Trieste after all, and abundant, the pastry and rest up t standards. Dinner is available on request in the morning. The double rooms have a terrace which in this quiet little hamlet makes the evenings a delight. And there are trails galore in the hiils within a few hundred meters of the entrance to the village. I was traveling with my dog and the staff were kind and very understanding and delighted in meeting him. The room is extremely comfortable, and the arrangement made it possible to work easily (the internet is a bit slow from the rooms but it's not bad). For those who want to fixed point during explorations of the are a of lower Friuli, I can't recommend the hotel more highly, it was a wonderful stay. There's bus and tram service from Opicina, or a direct route into the city descending along the cliffs toward the university and center. In town, about 1 1/2 km, there are good restaurants and a wonderful gelateria.
