We are a small, peaceful caravan park situated around 3 hours from Melbourne at the beginning of the Gippsland Lakes region. A starting point to visit the 'Lakes', the nearby Victorian alpine high country or even just a convenient stop-off on the way to or from Melbourne. At the Stratford on the River Tourist Park we offer a warm welcome and what have been described by guests as the cleanest amenities they have come across.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked in to Stratford on the River Tourist Park for one night with our bicycles to ride the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail the following day. We could not have had a better choice of accommodation. Our cabin had everything we could possibly need—a good bed, excellent bathroom with a good hot, spacious shower and the friendliest people you will find anywhere. Staff and guests gave us lots of smiles and stopped to chat. the setting on the River Avon is lovely and the town itself has all the amenities you would hope for, If you are planning on riding the rail trail, I would suggest start here rather than in Traralgon.

This is a pretty, clean, friendly little park. There is a warm , well appointed camp kitchen, large pool, and even a street library! The owners are warm and friendly and the village a delight to explore.

A wonderful stay. Cabins were nice and modern and very clean. Communication with the managers was seamless and outstanding. The park is situated right on the river and is such a beautiful sight to see first thing in the morning. We only stayed one night to attend a wedding however will definitely be coming back with our kids for a weekend if not longer. Value for money was excellent also. Highly recommended.

This quiet little caravan park exceeded all expectations as per previous reviews. What a pleasant unexpected surprise to walk into a heated ammenities block. On-site bike hire an absolute bonus considering the park’s location on the rail bike trail.

We spent a week at Stratford Caravan Park recently when prolonged heavy rain forced retreat from the high country. The proprietor, Louise, was very welcoming & accommodating. The riverside location was attractive and the facilities were very clean and well-equipped. We used both a powered site and a cabin, which was well-appointed, spotless and had lovely sheets & towels. Well-maintained mountain bikes were available to ride the adjacent rail trail. The laundry had modern efficient washing machines & driers. There was a warm, tidy camp kitchen.

Great little park with views of the river. Amenities a little dated but clean with outdoor and indoor camp cooking facilities available. Walking distance to town. Friendly team. Just after the bridge on the left. Fire pits provided and can buy wood.

Great little park on the Avon River right next to the A1 Princes Highway. The park is immaculately maintained and bar the traffic noise a peaceful place to spend a couple of days. The camp kitchen and BBQ area is well located and well maintained. Short walk to Badger & Hare cafe which has good coffee and good breakfast and lunch fare.

We booked a "drive though" site to accommodate our very large new van, and my laziness about unhooking the van etc. Whilst we were unfamiliar with the town or the Park, it proved to be a great choice: 1. The drive through sites are very accessible. 2. The Park only a short walk from the town/pub/etc. And overlooking a lovely river! Who knew about this town? It's a gem! 3. The cara park facilities were clean and maintained to a very high standard. 4. But to top it off, an incident in the evening of our stay prompted this review: My wife and I were at the local pub, not far away from the Park, just finishing up our meal and a second(???) glass of red, (BTW the pub is great too!) - when the Park managers/operators rang us to frantically inform us that a storm had blown up and that the gigantic awning on our new Jayco van was flapping around crazily and liable to damage. So we raced back, to see that the managers were still holding each end of the flappng awning, which because of the sudden storm resembled an America's Cup spinnaker! I quickly unlocked the van and pressed the "retract awning " button. Whew - a really close call - and luckily no damage on close inspection next day. So there you have it folks - the managers Shaun & Louise went "above and beyond", (although I'm sure they'd be grateful if you remember to retract or secure your awning before going out on a stormy night! ) All in all, a highly recommended venue!! Take a bow folks - you're valued people!

Hello Terry Thank you for such a great review - we were happy to save the "spinnaker" - but it was not just us holding things down, but one of your fellow neighbour caravaners (on the site next door). Once again showing the care and support fellow caravaners have for each other. Happy travels and we hope to see you again soon. Louise & Shaun
