We are a small, peaceful caravan park situated around 3 hours from Melbourne at the beginning of the Gippsland Lakes region. A starting point to visit the 'Lakes', the nearby Victorian alpine high country or even just a convenient stop-off on the way to or from Melbourne. At the Stratford on the River Tourist Park we offer a warm welcome and what have been described by guests as the cleanest amenities they have come across.

Great little park on the Avon River. Unpowered sites have a view of the river and are a bargain at only $20.00 per night. This was the last stay of our trip and after a shocker of an experience in Marlo at the mARLO caravan Park and motel, it was nice to finish off our holiday in such a beautiful setting in this clean, beautiful and well managed park. Will be back!

We spent a week at Stratford Caravan Park recently when prolonged heavy rain forced retreat from the high country. The proprietor, Louise, was very welcoming & accommodating. The riverside location was attractive and the facilities were very clean and well-equipped. We used both a powered site and a cabin, which was well-appointed, spotless and had lovely sheets & towels. Well-maintained mountain bikes were available to ride the adjacent rail trail. The laundry had modern efficient washing machines & driers. There was a warm, tidy camp kitchen.

This quiet little caravan park exceeded all expectations as per previous reviews.

What a pleasant unexpected surprise to walk into a heated ammenities block.

On-site bike hire an absolute bonus considering the park’s location on the rail bike trail.

We stayed at this park at the end of our 5 month trip to and from Nth Queensland in order to catch up with friends. I am not sure which park previous reviewers stayed at but this one does not have cabins or a pool!!
For a hefty $96 per night the park provided the minimum number of toilet and shower facilities that I observed being cleaned just once in our 5 night stay, a basic camp kitchen and BBQ's that were so filthy nobody would use them.
The parks base rate is $36 and peak $48 but over the Melb Cup weekend this was doubled and a 4 night minimum required. Price gouging at it s best!! When I enquired why our price was so high (considering others staying at the same time paid $48) , I was told pricing is 'dynamic' and there was no consideration given to refunding the overcharge. Would not recommend this park.

A great little park with our experience spoilt by price gouging! We booked two powered sites for the Melbourne Cup weekend at $96 per night, minimum of four nights. HOWEVER when we arrived and spoke to others who were pulling up to many of the available sites they were charge $48!! This really tainted the experience and despite asking for a refund it was a case of too bad so sad! Would not recommend based on this.

We booked in to Stratford on the River Tourist Park for one night with our bicycles to ride the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail the following day. We could not have had a better choice of accommodation. Our cabin had everything we could possibly need—a good bed, excellent bathroom with a good hot, spacious shower and the friendliest people you will find anywhere. Staff and guests gave us lots of smiles and stopped to chat. the setting on the River Avon is lovely and the town itself has all the amenities you would hope for, If you are planning on riding the rail trail, I would suggest start here rather than in Traralgon.

Our family evacuated from Nowa Nowa due to bushfires and spent several days here. Hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming.
We had a cabin and caravan site side by side.
Our pets were made welcome and they even provided us with the use of a large cage for our one legged one wing galah who we only left with in a milk crate.
Spotless cabin and ammenities.
We hope to come back and enjoy a peaceful break there sometime soon.
Highly recommend this place.

I sadly checked out of this beautiful and very peaceful caravan park thismorning.
I had a three week stay while working in Stratford. My worker cabin (Cabin 11) was comfortable, cosy and had everything I needed for a very reasonable price.

The owners, Shaun and Louise are lovely and very helpful.

I look forward to staying here again in the near future.

Best coffee: Badger and Hare (Stratford)
Best meal: Avon Hotel (Stratford)
Best view: the end of Dixon st looking out over the river and valley with mountains in the distance.

We spent the first week of 2021 in a cabin with river views. Clean, with all the comfort of home, pet friendly and with amazing hosts in Louise and Shaun. A friendly chat each day, thoughtful fellow campers made our stay relaxing. We were able to bring only personal essentials as linen and luxurious towels were provided. We will definitely make this a destination to return to.

A wonderful stay. Cabins were nice and modern and very clean. Communication with the managers was seamless and outstanding. The park is situated right on the river and is such a beautiful sight to see first thing in the morning. We only stayed one night to attend a wedding however will definitely be coming back with our kids for a weekend if not longer. Value for money was excellent also. Highly recommended.
