We stayed at Cabañas for 4 days, and had an ocean front room on the second floor which came with a private terrace and hot tub. The room was very comfortable and the hotel provided a beach bag, towels, and water in the room (we asked for more everyday and they always brought it right away). The beach is a few steps away and there were always chairs and beach beds available, unlike the big resorts where there are always towels in every chair.The service and kindness of everyone working here sets the place apart, Nancy, David, Lula made our stay very pleasant.The wellness activities that are included were great and allowed us to relax, they also have a pool table that we used when it rained. You can also use the spa which looked great, we didn't have time to try it. We had breakfast at Ziggys everyday which is included and you can get 2 dishes per person so we tried the chilaquiles and fruit salad which were amazing! The hotel is nearby many restaurants, we walked every night to try different ones, bring comfortable shoes as the path to the restaurants gets muddy when it rains.

We had a wonderful stay at Cabanas Tulum. The location is excellent, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and beach clubs if that's your thing. Bikes are also available to guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We had a swim out, very fun. Each room has a small patio with comfy chairs and a hammock. Although we weren't beach front, the design of the hotel allows for the ocean breeze to reach the back building. The beach is quiet, clean and there are plenty of sun beds and lounge chairs for all the guests. April is the beginning of sargassum season, but it was only bad one day and the hotel had staff who remove it from the beach promptly. The front desk is friendly and helpful. They arranged our airport transfers, reliable drivers to cenotes and downtown and helped with dinner recommendations and reservations. Rooms are cleaned daily and stocked with bottled water, in glass bottles of course. A bonus to staying at Cabanas is the free breakfast at Frescos, located at the hotel. As the name suggests, everything is fresh. They make their own breads, blue corn tortillas, nut butters, etc. The food is delicious and served by charming waitstaff. Fresh juices and smoothies are available too. Food can also be ordered to your room, pool or beach through a WhatApp link, very handy when you want a cocktail or snack at the beach. The cocktails are also made with fresh, natural ingredients so they are practically good for you. The small yet elegant spa at Cabanas is another perk. A sauna, steam and warm and cold plunge pools are available for hydrotherapy as well a menu of treatment options. Yoga is available at 9am daily for $20 at a beautiful open air palapa studio next door. Cabanas Tulum is truly special. We can't wait to go back.

The beauty of the place, the hotel and its friendly staff made our anniversary an unforgettable experience. The rooms are really beautiful, as they have a private pool and access to the beach. I loved that the beach is very clean, the water is crystal clear and the staff does everything to make you feel comfortable. I really liked that the hotel is very quiet, which is appreciated because in Tulum there are usually hotels with loud music all the time. They have a spa that gives you a hydrotherapy cycle included in the room which was delicious. The hotel food is also delicious. The breakfast that is included is extraordinary and the hotel team prepared us (with a very affordable extra charge) a romantic dinner on the terrace of the room that was unforgettable. It is, without a doubt, one of the best beach hotels I have stayed in.

We are frequent guests of Cabanas Tulum. I have to say they are a place that truly makes every guest feel right at home. They treat returning guests as great as they do first timers! This hotel is so clean, private, comfortable, and well worth every penny.
The beaches along tulums coastline can be full of seaweed and trash. We walked the entire beach and i must say cabanas tulum really goes above and beyond to maintain the cleanliness of the hotel and the beach. The sunset and sunrise is unparalleled from this location. The rooms offer true beachside views with the sound of the ocean at your bedroom door.
Each room on the lower level has their own plunge pool which no other resort in the area offers. It is quite and absolute relaxation. However if you like the party scene more , the beach clubs and bars are within feet and walking distance from the hotel. I definitely recommend renting scooters or quads to explore the Sian Kan which is right down the road from the hotel.
The breakfast included every morning includes 2 meals per person as well as a juice or smoothie and coffee or other cold/hot non-alc bev. You can use whats. app to let the staff know where and when you would like your meals and drinks to be delivered.
All the staff at Cabanas are so friendly and provide service with all smiles. The price point can be a bit high during the peak season here however, you truly get what you pay for.

There are so many choices in Tulum Beach that it took me a long time to choose a place. I’m so glad we chose Cabanas. The staff was amazing, particularly David and Aldo. David was sweet and always greeted us by name with a huge smile on his face. Aldo was our go to for the entire week. He gave amazing recommendations (we often like his more than the places we had found online) and treated us like family. We were particularly excited to see the turtles nesting and he even came to get us when one was spotted on the beach, an experience we will never forget. Thank you to everyone for making our vacation amazing!
A few helpful tips:
Location: we were there to celebrate our anniversary and this was the perfect spot for that. It was quiet. I never heard a neighbor once. I always sleep with earplugs on vacations and I didn’t need them once. This is in a quieter part of the beach, we didn’t have to hear loud club music. However you could easily walk there if you wanted to.
Seaweed: if you’ve done any research you know that the Riviera Maya can have a horrible seaweed problem. Cabanas is far beyond any of the other hotels in their dealing with this. They have a huge staff (we saw more than 5 each day) working constantly to keep the seaweed out from in front of the hotel. When we walked along the beach, we saw that none of the other hotels keep this level of maintenance. It was hard to walk on other sections because of how much seaweed there was but the Cabanas crew are amazing! If you don’t want to smell/climb over it, that alone is a reason to stay here.
Beach: speaking of the beach, we never had a problem getting chairs at the beach. There was always spots and you didn’t have to get out there early and fight for them.
Mosquitos: they’re horrible. You need deet. Don’t try other things, just keep yourself constantly covered. Most restaurant even have it there when you go in, they have smoke too to try to deter them but it’s bad.
Turtles: Cabanas shows a deep care for the turtles. They fence off their nests, so they aren’t damaged.
Gay friendly: when traveling to a new place as a gay couple, you never really know what to expect. We felt completely safe and welcomed at Cabanas by everyone.
The room: we got the top floor ocean view and it was so worth it. We enjoyed the hot tub on the rooftop (you add the water yourself so you could make it a cool pool during the daytime if you wanted to) and the covered balcony when there were tropical rains.
We miss it already and look forward to going back again!

Very nice hotel, very pleasant and relaxing on the beach with great services, the decoration of the hotel and the rooms is very neat and refined. We had a beach front room with jacuzzi on the terrace. Our room was spacious, decorated with great taste, very clean, the bathroom very large, very beautiful and very well appointed. The beach in front of the hotel is magnificent, very well maintained and very clean. The private beach of Las Cabanas is pleasant, the mattresses on the beach are clean and comfortable. The beach is also very calm and relaxing as well as Ziggy Beach which is really very pleasant compared to certain other beaches with very noisy beach clubs. The breakfast is very good, varied and plentiful, we took it every morning at Ziggy Beach facing the beach and the sea, a truly magnificent setting. Ziggy Beach is superbly laid out and the beach is also very well maintained. The fresco restaurant is also very pleasant and the food is very good, especially the succulent desserts, the prices are a little excessive, especially the cocktails, but like everything in Tulum. All the reception staff are really very kind, helpful and efficient. I lost my cell phone during my stay and everyone at reception was very kind to help me find it. We highly recommend Las Cabanas for an excellent, pleasant, relaxing and refined stay in Tulum on the edge of a magnificent beach. I would have liked it to last more than 4 days.

We had a great three night stay as part of our trip to Tulum! We chose the rooftop room as we love the idea of a private hot tub!
Upon arrival the friendly security helped us with our parking and luggage and we were then warmly greeted by the front of house Freddy. Presented with lovely welcome drinks, we felt right at home! Our room wasn't quite ready but we relaxed in the lobby and played a game of pool until it was. Freddy then personally took us to our room which was decorated with rose petals and complementary bubbly! I love it when a hotel pays attention to details and they had taken note that we were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary! The room itself was beautiful! We had a small balcony and also our own upper terrace with loungers and a hot tub. Just perfect!
Breakfast was included in our rate and we chose to have this at their onsite restaurant "Frescos". There was the option to go to their sister hotel's restaurant too but we were happy with the variety of choice on the menu at Frescos. We were served by the wonderful Sandro. He's a true asset to the team! Always smiling and remembers you! He got on with my husband famously and bonded over football. The food was delicious! Very fresh and great smoothies!
We loved the beach access and noted there was a security guard there the whole time asking non hotel guests to move along and kept an eye on everyone's belongings while we walked along the beach or dipped our feet in the sea. There was also workers who removed the seaweed daily from the beach! Small details like this make all the difference!
We had a massage during our stay and this was great too. We used the hydrotherapy spa facilities also.
My only small niggle would be the tipping. Being from the UK we're not used to this very American way and did find it a bit off-putting that the recommended amounts are already printed on receipts. We felt we were being cheap if we didn't select one!
Overall though it was a perfect stay. Cabañas is a true hidden gem and I secretly wish it stays that way so we can come back again and again. Thanks for making our #10inTulum one to remember!

My two girlfriends and I had a fantastic 6-night stay at Hotel Cabañas in the two queen bed beachfront room with plunge pool. This was our first time visiting Tulum and the hotel’s location was absolutely perfect - the beach was pristine and it was just a short walk to dozens of excellent restaurants. We felt totally safe in the hotel as well as walking around the neighborhood at night. We were pleased that it was quiet, as many of the beach clubs/hotels down the road BLAST loud music all day. Our room was extremely clean and cozy and we were impressed by the very thorough daily housekeeping (they even washed our windows every day!!). The hotel staff also makes an effort to protect the sea turtles by closing off and securing their nesting areas on the beach which we thought we nice.
We also very much enjoyed our complimentary breakfast every day at our choice of Ziggys or Frescos just steps away from the hotel which were both incredible. We used the room service a few times as well via WhatsApp which was very convenient. Every single staff member was extremely kind and really seemed to care about making us comfortable and accommodating our needs (special shout outs to Freddy, Antonio, Felipe & Luis - they are the best!!) We also utilized the free spa hydrotherapy every day (sauna, steam room, hot tub & cold plunge) and got massages for an additional cost which were wonderful. We would fully recommend staying here and would love to come again in the future. Thank you Hotel Cabañas!

Everything our family could want in a low key, pampered stay. The room was immaculately clean. The colors of the water, sky, and palm trees were postcard pretty. There was always plenty shampoo, soap, etc (so no need to hoard tiny bottles). Every person on staff from the concierges to the cleaning staff to security was extremely friendly, laid back, and helpful. Mostly the beach was sparsely populated, adding to our enjoyment. When beach beds were getting crowded, staff brought out a dozen more so there was no need to “reserve” any lounges with towels. The included breakfast was creative, sizable, healthy, and delicious. Even the airport transport was great—punctual and offered all types of cold beverages. The plunge pool was so lovely and warm with a great beach view that we never even ventured to the main pool. The gym was well appointed and the pool table was lots of fun! The only downsides were beyond the hotel’s control—the booming base from the property next door and the sargassum that washed ashore some days that staff regularly raked. All in all one of my favorite hotel stays!

We absolutely loved our stay at Cabanas Tulum over the Christmas / New Years holiday vacation. The setting was beautiful, clean and sophisticated in design. While the hotel was full, it still felt quiet and peaceful due to its boutique charm. Our room was just a couple steps to the beach with beautiful views. The location was perfect. A little bit away from the loud action but a short enough walk down the road to all the big clubs, bars, restaurants, etc. The staff was particularly attentive. We were able to communicate any needs/asks directly through WhatsApp, even ordering drinks and food to the room. Aldo was there for us our whole trip and always checking it to make sure we had everything we need! He was super friendly and attentive. The included breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

Not sure of renovation dates, but we were very happy with the condition of our room, the grounds, the beach area and pool when we stayed there in April this year (2024). Staff were outstanding; absolutely loved the hotel. Hope this helps!

You'll need to catch a taxi, or rent a car/moped to get from the hotel into Tulum town. Cycling is far too hot. Taxis are very expensive - we were quoted 600-800 mxn each way. We thought it was worth staying on the beach any way; the taxi was less than it'd cost us to get in to a beach club - and this hotel's beach area is sooo lovely!
