Stopped here to catchup with friends. Lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere. Even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon our food promptly and was freshly made. We enjoyed savoury tuna and Cumbrian egg sandwiches with a big basket of chips. Delicious.

Always packed so that tells its only story about how popular this pub is with day walkers and those whoa re staying in the adjacent Langdale Lodges. It oozes character and charm, serves delicious food throughout the day and evening and has a great selection of real ales, sprits and wines. Its even dog friendly, and has a quiz night...

I cannot praise enough the staff. They have been so welcoming, helpful and friendly. the location is spot on as it doesn't take long to get across from the M6, plenty of fantastic walks from the doorstep. Our room had been very recently refurbished and was cosy and beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. Fantastic bathroom with piping hot powerful shower....

We were able to get our room early, it was cosy and warm, not massive after all its an old in so for those who want big rooms go somewhere else. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed with plenty of coffee making facilities. This...

We called in after a days walking and wanted something hot and filling so ordered the steak, ale and mushroom pie, we weren't disappointed as the pie virtually filled the dinner plate and with the accompanied chips I was unable to add any of the fresh vegetables. Fantastic place, great service and amazing food - we will be back on...

Last Saturday 26 November we did the Elterwater 'challenging' walk as recommended in the dog friendly pub walking guide. It took us about 4 hours and we were ready to eat and drink when we got to the pub at around 2pm. On entering the pub we found a table in the dining area. As we settled in a waitress...

A great atmosphere and friendly staff and clientele. The food is traditional pub grub and all the better for that. Lovely Lamb Henry and Steak and Ale pie. Great local beers. Recommended at lunch and in the evening.
