I wanted to come to Asia to get away for awhile. Most of Asia is shut down due to COVID-19, but Thailand was offering the “Phuket Sandbox” where if you stay 14 days in Phuket and pass some COVID tests you can then travel to the rest of Thailand. I’m not a beach lover, so I chose Como Point Yamu on the advice of my travel agent who said it was one of the best hotels in Phuket. I had a pool villa. The room was nice, clean and spacious. The view across the Andaman sea was AMAZING. After traveling into Old Phuket one day, and having a meal there, I got extremely ill. So ill that I had to go to the hospital. Given that I speak no Thai, this was a very scary idea. But, one of the hotel staff insisted on going with me, got me all checked in and offered to stay with me until I got better. I didn’t let her stay after I got settled in, but this kind offer made what would have been a VERY difficult experience into one that showed me how kind people can be and what great service really is. Because of COVID-19, the restaurants were closed and all meals had to be in the villa (a few could be at the bar, but no alcohol). The service was quick, incredibly friendly and the food excellent. I went to the spa 10 times in the 14 days I was there. All the treatments were excellent. The Thai Massage and the Shambhala Bath were particularly good. My one regret is that, because of COVID, only the villas were open and there were very few guests. I would love to see it again, this time bustling with people! I should mention again how fantastic the views are. The view from the villa was stunning, but the view from the main pool and bar is 220 degrees of breathtaking splendor.

Splendid, again. We stayed nine nights and appreciated being upgraded to a two bedroom villa with open views. Although the hotel was rather quiet during our stay, the staff were cheerful and helpful in all instances. We were just two persons and this villa is rather large, 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms! Thank you!

My family and I came here as part of the Phuket Sandbox program in late July and early August 2021. We planned to be on the east side of the island at Point Como Yamu for one week and then on the more touristy west side for a week. We were not disappointed. We had booked two hotel rooms, one for our teenage girls and one for ourselves. As it turned out, the hotel was closed, so the staff upgraded us to a three bedroom villa overlooking the bay and Phuket. Let me start with the circumstances with the Sandbox. We arrived here, and we found out that they were running at 17% occupancy. We literally saw maybe five or six other guests the entire time we were here. We literally felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. We had the pool to ourselves, the restaurants to ourselves, and all of the common grounds to ourselves. It was a little eerie at times, but at the same time, we know when COVID-19 dissipates, we will never see this again. So we loved the peace and tranquility. Peace and serenity 10/10 Next, the grounds of the resort. They are absolutely stunning. There are no words to explain how beautiful the architecture, the landscaping, and the most amazing views in the world are. The design is very Italian contemporary with splashes of Thai influence. The gardens are amazing. There are beautiful trees and flowers everywhere. And the best part are the views. One side of the hotel on top of the Yamu peninsula looks over a beautiful bay/fishing village and the main island of Phuket. The other side looks off to the Andaman Sea with its islands and the tall limestone cliffs of Phang Nga bay in the distance. The sun rises over the Andaman Sea just south of Phang Nga and the sun sets over the island of Phuket, so you can see both unlike many of the touristy west side resorts where you only can see the sunset. Grounds and views 10/10 Next, our villa. Wow. We were taken by golf cart to our villa for the week. Absolutely stunning with modern contemporary sleek furnishings. The place had beautiful wood floors, white clean and modern furniture, and all of the amenities one could possibly need and want for a week. The bed was so comfortable. The bathrooms were huge, clean, and amazing with beautiful aqua blue tile and a shower to die for. The water pressure of the rain shower was like being under a waterfall. And the walk in tub was beautiful and huge with a variety of oil salts. Our personal swimming pool was amazing, and the backyard furniture was great for lounging after a long day of adventure. And the views. Wow. Our view looked to the west toward the island. I don’t imagine there is a villa with a bad view. And I think if the hotel was open, the views up at the top of the hill might even be better. Villa and views a huge 10/10 And lastly the staff who made our trip the best it could possibly be. Everyone was amazing. My wife and I were wondering if things would have been so personal had there been more guests in the hotel. Regardless, all were amazing. Everyone knew us by first and last name when we arrived, and addressed us throughout the trip, a great personal touch. Everyone went out of their way to greet is and to help us with anything we needed. A few standouts. Franz…he seemed to be the man in charge while we were there. He showed us everything we needed to see around the resort. He put together an amazing itinerary for our six- day stay at Como, including trips to old Phuket Town, the Elephant Sanctuary, ATV trips, boat trips out to the islands and beaches (unfortunately we could not visit Phang Nga and Phi Phi due to Sandbox restrictions). If there was anything we needed, he was our go-to. Two others that need mentioning were Nok (aka Nok Nok) and Chet. They were our help at the restaurant and pool. They were so absolutely friendly. Our girls and my wife just fell in love with them. They gave us insight to the Thai culture and to our surroundings. They felt like friends by the time we left. Another standout was Jimmy. She was so sweet and helped us with transportation and getting our required COVID tests while we were here. She was so polite and she will not be forgotten. We feel so bad how things have changed during COVID. Times must be tough for a lot of the staff, but not a single person here showed it. Staff a 20/10!!!!! A few notes before I finish. At the time of this writing, you could only visit Phuket and a few of the surrounding provincial islands. The hotel boat, Capricorn, took us to Naka Island, where the Como Beach Club is. Unfortunately the beach club has been closed and will be closed in the near future. Almost all of the beach clubs on the surrounding islands are closed down. It is eerie to be the only ones on the beach, but this is an amazing feeling that we probably won’t experience again. The beaches there are amazing. And the captain and crew and boat itself was amazing. We saw Phang Nga pretty close, but all I wanted to do was go closer. But that was forbidden for now. Also, at the time of this writing, only Sirena was serving food outside by the pool. The other Thai restaurant was closed down. The food at Sirena was delicious with Thai, Italian, and Western food. You will either be eating here or at the villa room service, as there really are no open restaurants within a few miles of the facility, most of which are local places. As I write this, I am at our other large resort on the western side of the island. It is a nice resort, but I get tears in my eyes thinking of the nice people we met at Como and the amazing time we had there. We have been all around the island now, and I honestly don’t think there is a better resort in Phuket in terms of location, staff, and views. We are hooked. We will definitely be back.

I did not expect anything else but a beautiful stay at a COMO hotel , but they went beyond our expectations. This review is highly belated but nonetheless I hope you all read it, about this fabulous resort. From the GM Andy Kunz to Vincent the Hotel Manager and the list goes on. We were upgraded, much to our pleasure and stayed in a fantastic private pool suite with stunning views. We live in Phuket in a Pool Villa and go seldom out but it was NYE and it just all matched. The food, the beautiful pre-fix dinner, the lighting, the private of the suite, the staff, the surroundings, everything. We want to share our gratitude with the team and the effort they made, besides making a "mean" Martini and Cuban sandwich for my lunch. It was still in the midst of Covid-19 and the precautions taken by COMO Point Yamu were more than excellent. They got rated for it and they deserve it, the resort was quite packed, and social distancing was not easy but they did it. Everything was taken care of - and the suite - beautiful. Loved the bathroom and the "blue" theme. Simple, modern, cool and fabulous. Bravo Team, Bravo COMO.
