On the southern tip of Samui Island and 10 minutes away from Lamai Beach, Centara Villas Samui is an exotic villa hideaway. Nestled in a tropical environment, the 102 southern Thai style villas present ample living areas (38-151 square metres) that seamlessly blend with their surrounding verdant foliage. The villas cascade down a gentle hillside to the resort’s private beach and feature a balcony with garden or ocean vistas. Guests will also enjoy the option of an outdoor Jacuzzi or a private plunge pool. Reef Café, the all-day dining restaurant, overlooks the Gulf of Thailand while the al fresco Coral Bar is perfect for barbecue dinners. There's also one bar. Leisure activities and facilities include three swimming pool areas, a children’s playground, an exceptional spa, and kayaks and bikes are also available, and so is a shuttle service to both Lamai Beach and Chaweng Beach.

We stayed in Centara Villas for a week commencing 13 Feb. The property comprises individual units with private sun terraces arranged down a fairly steep hill to the beach. There are three pools at varying levels as you descend so always somewhere to find a quiet spot if required. The whole resort is very well maintained and is covered in tropical plants providing a feeling of seclusion and also encouraging many birds to visit.
Our initial room only had a view of the roof of the room below so we paid a modest supplement (c. 500 Baht/night) and were moved to room 316 which overlooks the lowest pool and the beach/ocean. We were very happy there as it was very convenient for everything but far enough away from the pool that noise was never an issue.
The service we received during our stay was excellent and every interaction with the staff was accompanied by a smile & gentleness, as is the Thai way.
The southern end of the island is less developed and less busy than the area near the airport and so this resort is ideal for people seeking a quieter holiday. You can wander down the almost deserted beaches for miles to a fishing village.
We have no hesitation in recommending this resort.

ideally suited for anyone looking to relax and not really wanting to venture outside the hotel , rooms could do with an upgrade ( minor) but it’s the location and the staff which heavily out way this .
Hotel prices are double what you would pay outside but within a 5 min walk there’s a few places which help bring the cost down and are better than the hotels food in terms of quality , it’s only the food/spirits you really save money but you are staying in a 4 star resort . cool bar is a must and the regular bus services from the hotel will offer a glimpse into local life and this isn’t the location for anyone waiting to be in the mix of it all .
This hotel is all about chilling out on the beach and recharging the batteries ready to go again .
( perfect for couples / singles )

Recently returned from a 2 week stay with a group of 16.

We had previously arranged that on our arrival at the villas we could upgrade to the all inclusive package. However on arriving were told this was no longer an option and the all inclusive package had to be pre-booked. Ploy did resolve this for us quickly and before the rest of our party arrived however this did cause unnecessary stress at the very start of the holiday. This was not the only problem encountered with the all inclusive. The mini bar in my room was not replenished during the first 4 days of my stay. This was quickly resolved by contacting reception however again something that could have been avoided. The all inclusive package does not include pool/beach service which caused an unfortunate incident with the pool attendant. He is the only member of staff that I found to be abrupt and rude and his change in attitude between the all inclusive guests and 'paying guests' was very noticeable.

The rest of the staff were amazing particularly in the Coral Bar - Anu, Mam, Tare, Bea, O and PU. They really make your holiday. Wide variety of food and drink and food is absolutely delicious and all freshly cooked to order from the menu. The all inclusive package doesn't start until 11am but after breakfast you cannot even get water until this time unless you pay.

Great rooms with brilliant air-con. Was also impressed with the gym for a holiday resort and used it regularly throughout my stay.

Would definitely recommend staying at the villas and would return.

I have stayed there for four nights with my friend and we booked our stay based on customer reviews. The hotel was ok but nothing special or extra and we both felt there were loads of opportunities that they could have gone above and beyond. Upon arrival we were asked to pay 4000TBH security deposit which was not asvertised anywhere prior and caused us inconvenience and delay with check in. The villa was well equipped and comfortable, AC particularly worked very well.they have a green choice option which means you can skip housekeeping service and you receive 150TBH voucher that you can use at the bar. I thought it was amazing and we opted in for the whole stay. The spa has happy hour promotion which we tried. The therapists spoke very well English and the massage was amazing! Highly recommend to try if you stay there. Rhe facilities including pools, beach were great however the towel system did not make any sense to us. You needed to sign up if you took towels however no one signed off if you rbought it back so it didnt seem to have any reason doing so. The most disappointing was the restaurant particularly the breakfast service and food quality. The buffet was cold 10min after opening and there was no chef at the live station. The variety of food was very low compared to similar hotels. The staff did not speak proper English and did not engage with customer during this time. There was no coffee/tea offered. There was a very poor coffee machine and if you asked for a normal capuccino they wanted to charge you for it. They were promoting their buffet dinner daily which was way overpriced compared to quality and not many people seemed to participate in. There is a cute local tavern on the beach side called Cool Bar which was only 5min walk away with amazing variety of local food at very afforable price! Highly suggest to dine there.
Another point to mention is that we were unable to book a taxi upon departure (apparently receptionist are not allowed to call taxi) therefore the only option we had is to book their private limousine.
I generally felt the hotel is very money driven and thats all they care about not enough attention on guests and going above and beyond. Not a single person asked us how our stay is going even at check out time. I would not stay here again if visited Koh Samui.

We came as a party of 16 people for a wedding, the wedding itself was amazing and the staff can’t be faulted they are all lovely and out going. However we all paid for all inclusive and on the 3rd day in we were informed that all inclusive only offers, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 1 dinner per person, so if you have a early lunch you have to starve until dinner, which anywhere else in the world does not count as all inclusive. Beach service is included in the hotel unless you are all inclusive which means you have to go to the bar, order your drinks and then get them yourself, which is fine if that was the case for everyone, it’s like they don’t want you to get the stuff you have paid for because they think you’ll go up less if you have to get it yourself. The rooms are very small for the price they charge(myself and my partner actually booked a different hotel for the second week because we was unhappy).
But like I said the staff themselves are amazing and can’t be faulted in any way.

We had a really great time at the centara villas but there are a few things that were disappointing. First of all, we had arranged for a pick up off the ferry from the hotel, but after waiting for 30 mins at the port and not being able to get ahold of the hotel we had to take a taxi. Not a great start. The staff at the hotel we're mainly excellent, especially the staff at the coral and reef bar and restaurant. The same could not be said for the food though. Expensive buffets dominated meal times, which weren't particularly local Thai cuisine. We were also told we had use of our own WiFi in our room which never worked. There wasn't a router in the room for one. The IT service man appeared to come in and try to fix it but he never actually did anything (nor tell us he wasn't going to be able to do anything) until we called him back and he made up some of excuse of there being an error. The villa itself was beautiful and their beach is stunning. The resort is fully self contained; you need not leave. All in all, I'd recommend it as a place to go and relax but the place did feel a little disorganised.

The bungalow is up-to-date on wifi ,TV even not the last performance, Poor choice of access to international tvchannels with often disruption. Pleasant decoration mainly in wood , confortable bed, All basic equipment to make a cup of coffee or tea. Distance from other bungalows is a key positive strenght on Quietness. Bathroom with shower and small items shower cap etc.. a big mirror and having sun light. Be prepared to exercise your legs as there are 150 steps from lobby up down the hill to Beach Restaurant and Swimming pool, and you have to return. No lift. Hopefully no animals apart the local birds, the frogs, the butterflies or the squirrels of Thailand. Location is closest to departure to the National park ( One day excursion). We live watching the tides going up or down with the consequently views of sea side!
Breakfast is for all choices , freshly prepared and staff committed to satisfy guests,
Use of Mask is compulsory and should remain to avoid , children or adults eating while serving and Covid19 Contamination.
Elderly people shall be happy if prepared in advance to exercise accordingly because there is no lift . Dreaming about long beach walks or jogging in the swimming pool can be the alternative to the fitness center well equipped near the reception on top of the hill.
Drinking a glass of wine at bar facing the sea!
Thai cuisine is excellent and healthy if you choose preparations with fresh prawns, vegetables cabbage, carots etc chicken , etc. the chefs can prepare tasty and complete meals. Thailand is not the country of good wines and do not search there to fullfil your wish, but you may pay a visit to the newly open Centara Reserve at Chaweng, there the winery is good and Central Shopping supermarket, same location, is the solution. Enjoy

Resort was beautiful, set in a quiet location, 15 minutes' drive from Lamai Beach. There is a shuttle bus available at various stages during the day. The resort is next to Kool Bar, which overlooks the beach/sea, and there are 3 restaurants and a bar to back of that, all reasonably priced.

Ups -
Some of the amazing staff team who we regard as friends are still there after the pandemic.
The spa is still the best we have visited
The quality of food remains very good although the long standing head chef Sakura has gone ..the new head chef is doing very well.
The welcome we received from Pu, Nee , Goong and Anu was amazing and much appreciated.
The daily run to the mini mart is a good idea
The gardens look great as always.

Downs
The manager did not respond to my email o asking for a specific room and the receptionist also did not acknowledge that our travel agent had also asked for specific rooms for us.
The manager did not come and meet any of the guests or have a weekly cocktail party as is usual at Centara.
The pool tiles require grouting .
The steps down to the pools require attention..they are crumbling and a hazard.
The spa rooms no longer have a range of complimentary toiletries as before.
The spa rooms do not have a turn down in the evening as before .
The spa rooms no longer come with the perk of two free cocktails every night.
The fruits at breakfast were limited and there was no smoked fish for breakfast as before , we requested it and were told no….
The trainees cannot speak English or French or German etc so this is having a huge impact on the regular staff who have to translate everything for them and end up doing everything for them. This is not fair on the regular team.

This is still one of our favourite hotels but needs input form Centara management…you will lose your UK return visitors if you do not listen to feedback. Just our opinion!

Centara Villa's resort is just idyllic, don't be put off by talk of the steps if you are fit and well you'll be fine we were in room 110 with 85 steps to the beach it was worth every step. The breakfasts were excellent, we did eat there in the evening on all but two nights with dinner from their extensive menu. We decided not to go for the featured buffet as there was just too much food. The resort have a free bus that will take you to a local supermarket twice a day, too far to walk really and their bus will also take you to the local town of Lamai for 50 Baht or to Chaweng for 150Baht, we did the Chaweng trip only to find that the market we had gone there for was on in the evenings only.
Great holiday great resort, amazing people, nothing more to say really
