My wife and I stayed at the MKBH on our recent trip to the Big Island. It is a truly wonderful place. The hotel is beautiful and elegant in a understated way. The staff is very friendly and we have always felt at home here. The beach is charming and beautiful. Great for swimming, walking and sun. It also has...

This luxury hotel that based upon our week stay is best for a select group of travelers; affluent individuals who relish mid-20th Century Luxury and Service, and not for many contemporary travelers expecting the luxury of more modern hotels. Great: Location and position of the hotel is outstanding. The mid-20th Century architecture of Edward Charles Bassett for the firm Skidmore,...

The Mauna kea Beach Hotel was the first resort on the Kona Coast and for many years was the crown jewel of that coast. I was proud to have been a consultant for Westin Hotels in those early days and have fond memories of this resort. However, in recent years, it has suffered many changes, none for the better. The...

We stayed 5 nights here. We had two rooms on the 4th floor which is the top floor of the newer ocean wing. Room 420 did make some intermittent noise from pipes and once or twice my kids were woken by this . But we liked this building as it was shaded by trees. We were shown rooms in the...

Check in at mid-night was a breeze, met with all the same Aloha. Staff is friendly, great rooms, bathrooms with two vanities, one with toilet and other with large soaking tub. Tennis in the morning and there was availability with excellent Tennis ProTeaching staff. Beach is awesome, lounge chairs were available with staff to help put up an umbrella. Beach...

That's right... I can't find an excuse to stay away from this property! It's simply beautiful with the best beach in the islands. When reserving your room make sure you stay is a minimum of 7 nights. I like the beachfront section where all rooms come with beautiful sunset views. Oh.. best restaurant for lunch? Sit outside on the terrace...

Here for 6 days with my wife. Very nice large rooms, very big bathroom with two vanities and separate room with toilet, large soaking tube and giant shower. Shower has a sliding door that opens to its own patio! Also a nice large walk in closet/changing room. We saved a little money by staying on the golf side, so no...

The Mauna Kea hotel is located directly on the best beach on the Big island (in my opinion). Those not staying at the resort can access the beach, however space is limited and you will need to arrive by 9:00 (or earlier) to get a parking pass. Easy and constant access to this beautiful and uncrowded beach is a tremendous...

uneatable food- stone cold ribs- warm white wine-contributed to a terrible meal-some of the food was eatable ,but very mediocre crab cakes were deep fried and tasteless, rolls were dense and cold , ran out of red wine- a very bad dining experience

I liked this resort. It had a bit of a retro feel to it but the room was nice, spacious and updated and the lanai was nice with lounge chairs and a gorgeous view of that amazing Hawaiian sunset. Service was great here. The food was good at all of their restaurants, really nothing to complain about. As Marriott Platinum...
