The staff were nice but failed to recognise my arms in the air with the dog around. I’m allergic.

They took us to the gatehouse cottage which if you want it to yourself is $500+ a night. I’m not sure why they’d ask this price when you can get a lovely home elsewhere for less and you aren’t at risk of sharing. The rooms are all bunched together. The back door to get to the outdoor bench doesn’t work. It’s so stiff I had to ask my husband and even he struggled to open it.

I see what other reviews mean by the ants. My husband was attacked in the house by a bull ant!

From outside the property needs so much repair. There’s so much water damage and no wonder when the Dow pipes are obviously blocked.

There was no toiletries provided other than what other guests had left behind! What accomodation doesn’t provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash? The little details were sadly lacking.

The towels were so tiny it didn’t actually wrap around me. They weren’t the sized towels I’m used to having in accomodation. They were more like kids towels.

The shower floods the bathroom and leaves a dangerous slip hazard because the door doesn’t close right.

We found a hair in our bedding.

This was given to us as a gift. We would not return. This place needs work and fast. If these things were tended to I would absolutely consider it worth the money.

From the patient and accomodating reservation changes till the last minute, a perfect 5 night stay in the lakeside suite. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and warm, professional and friendly staff. Can’t find anything to complain about and can’t wait to visit again.

Came here for a wedding and was impressed with the beautiful gardens and quite possibly the biggest, fanciest stables I've ever seen, loved the horsey smell and the friendly horses. Lovely big ponds with coy fish blend into the surroundings perfectly. Bring your camera when you visit!

I had a booking on 1 May for a wedding we attended at Brookleigh Estate. The wedding ceremony commenced at 3.30. We travelled from Albany. I went to the restaurant to book in and was told the room wasn't ready yet, but we could put our luggage in the common area until it was. When we walked into the bunkhouse it had obviously been fully book the night before and cleaning hadn't even begun. We waited until 2.30 then went to the restaurant again to ask what was going on. We did not receive a great response. Was told the cleaner was sick, our room number was 7 and someone would be there to clean and told to get our towels out of the bag near the fridge! The place was disgusting! Bathrooms and toilets dirty, toilet paper all on the floor, dirty towels in each bathroom, and our room., curtains in our room hanging off the rail and broken, dirty dishes filled the sink, food crumbs all over the table and floor.. The dishes had been done but left on the drainer! No other rooms or bathrooms were cleaned. There were ceiling vents missing and half falling out and the lawn was overgrown and a mess. We were never given a key to our room yet were told to not lock the 3 door leading outside, so our items were at risk. In the morning we attempted to have a shower in the only clean bathroom, but there was no hot water! I am completely disgusted that this is how we were treated and when I had pre booked the accommodation months ahead. There was no responsibility taken, and we were treated as a complete inconvenience to them. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

We had a wonderful stay at Brookleigh in the Lakeside apartment for our anniversary. We were greeted by complementary bubbles and Whistler's chocolate. The apartment was lovely and surrounded by amazing gardens and stables. I could tell it would make a beautiful venue as well. We also had a couples massage at the Brookleigh Day Spa which is in the same area as the apartments and that was fantastic as well.

Came in my special car for a wedding this morning. I asked if there was an alternative parking spot for my Ferrari because it may get damaged if not parked in bitumen. The car is new and also very low to the ground. A very rude lady named Jacqui told me there were no alternatives and to leave the property. To go home and change cars. Have been to many places on drive days with Ferrari and Lamborghini and Rolls Royce clubs. Usually always treated with basic respect. It was the way she talked to me that was uncalled for.
Will tell all my friends in all the car clubs and dealerships that our prized possessions are not welcomed there. Nothing luxurious about this establishment when no inclusions for VIPs.

The courtyard apartment should not be called a luxury apartment, as this is what you expect to find. They have a very professional website, I suspect the photos were taken some time ago. I suggest they call them quality apartments when they fix the lighting problems and have windows that can be opened. There is maintenance badly needed in all areas, including around the pool and gazebo. The lake area's when I stayed was covered in duck poo, this need's attention also. I cannot comment on the lakeside apartment, as I did not stay in that one. At the price I expected a lot more, I cannot see myself staying again.

Response from Rachel B, Manager at Luxury Apartments @ Brookleigh

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We apologise that there was a lack of attention to detail in the landscapes surrounding your Apartment during your visit. As we recently renovated our spa gardens and pool area in the new year laying down new lawn, plants and décor it is disappointing that there were issues that let down the overall feel of an area that I can say without a doubt is looked after on all occasions and holds a high priority. If you could kindly email us at info@brookleigh.com.au with some more detail on the maintenance required and areas that were lacking attention we would be extremely grateful. I apologise that there was duck poo on the gazebo at the Lake, this is a common occurrence with the number of ducks at Brookleigh that have made the lake their home. Great care is taken when there is an event in this area and it is also checked regularly during the weeks that there is not an event as well. Regarding the Courtyard Apartment, the contents inside including the bed linen, pool towels, bath towels, magazines, coffee machines, take home gifts from the Swan Valley such as the House of Honey, Kafarela’s jams, local chocolates, etc. are all new additions since January so therefore we feel they are an improvement to the photos on the website. I apologise that the windows did not appear to open, sometimes the button to lock them is pressed during cleaning and we have had to open them with our keys for guests when requested. I apologise if this was the case as it could have been managed quite promptly. I will also look into any issues with the lights as I know it can be quite frustrating when things like this are not straightforward and should be made to be easy to manage for our guests. We have had many lovely comments in our guests book about the beauty of the room and the Estate and we are very sorry that you did not feel the same. We look forward to receiving your email and thank you again for your time. Rachel, Manager

First and foremost, Brookleigh Estate is a beautiful property and we did have a wonderful time staying. However, we were let down by the quality of the apartment. For "luxury" accommodation, we were rather disappointed - the potential for a magnificent set of apartments is there. But the place feels neglected.

The property and furniture need refurbishment and updating. Not all of the light switches work around the property and the bathroom lights weren't working at all (shower in the dark - I dare you). The linen was clean, but the furniture was not great (broken and badly scratched - beyond "normal"). There were parts of the apartment that had not been cleaned thoroughly, including the bathroom and the kitchen. There are established cobwebs in and outside the property and spiders too, which makes me wonder whether there has been a thorough clean in a while. There are little brown ants in the kitchen coming out from behind the sink - heaven forbid you leave a crumb out overnight.

We did not use the pool or spa whilst we were there, though they looked clean enough. The floor outside could do with a pressure clean and it is a bit hazardous with some of the plants in that portico area.

I will mention that the staff were very, very helpful and friendly. They are what has kept this review at "average".

Beautiful surrounds - yes. Lovely staff - yes. Great spot in the Valley - yes. But luxurious? No. In that respect, Brookleigh does not represent good value for money. It is very expensive for what you are getting. Without any changes, I won't be staying again or recommending to friends.

Thank you for your review and we're glad to hear that you found the estate, surrounds and staff accommodating. We have taken on your feedback regarding the Apartment and it's surrounding areas regarding cleanliness, safety, comfort and appearance and have made improvements in all areas that would allow us confidence when booking future guests in. We've labelled our light switches so that guests know which ones to avoid that do not serve a purpose any longer and confirmed after your stay that the bathroom light bulb did need replacing. Our grounds crew has been doing regular check ups of the cobwebs and condition of the grounds around the Apartment entrances and we feel the place now has a nice rustic feel but while still being safe for all guests.

The accomodation is beautiful with French colonial style. Good facilities in the apartment including multiple shower head shower and pool a few steps out the door. The staff attention reminded you this a family business.

I'm going to kept this sweet and simple. The Luxury Apartments at Brookleigh are so peaceful and serene, that there is no question they were decorated by someone with a real eye for quality and comfort and a true passion for the good things in life. I wasn't expecting this when I arrived.

But therein lies the problem. Why would you expect more? The Luxury Apartments at Brookleigh are totally under-marketed, hidden by the hive of activity around the property's vast equestrian centre without being absorbed by them. It is like living on a country estate, the sights and sounds of wildlife, the fresh air.

Our room was gorgeous, huge, very open and airy. A large kitchen, and sitting room, giant bathroom and closet; more than we needed. And the bed was so comfortable!

Staff were brilliant from check-in to check-out. We used the free electric bicycles and spent an entire day going from café to restaurant, winery to food producer. Definitely the highlight of our stay, beyond the apartment and food at the restaurant. Brookleigh also has a very adequate gym in the stables which I inspected and never used. I suppose it was wishful thinking for me because I went with a plan in mind and ended up doing what I was supposed to do - relax!

I saw some of the other apartments that look onto the outdoor pool and they looked stunning too. Great for families. And I peered in at the spa and that equally looked amazing. There is bunk-type accommodation housing that is in its own building near the reception check-in house, but this is very basic and I would think perfect for people bringing their horses for training etc.

This is a family run business and it shows. Great karma, great personality, huge service. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the Swan Valley. Top notch!
