If you love wildlife and the water this is the place for you. We had the most amazing trip to see some beautiful wildlife and some amazing animals. ERDY OUR GUIDE WAS SUPERB!! Fantastic place to stay. Rooms basic & clean. Good food & relaxing over a beer or two watching a killer of a sunset. Plenty of animals to see from elephants, croc's, proboscis monkeys & even spotted a King cobra swimming across the river.

It is so hot, so you must take this into consideration when you book here. If your room has no a/c and you have bad reactions to heat. You will have no escape from it. Even to take a cold shower it doesn’t matter after 10 minutes you are so hot again. Not a place for those who cannot take... More

We stayed here as part of a tour (with SI Tours Borneo, who were excellent) and was a great base for a truly memorable experience. We were there in the low season, so there were only the four of us plus one other guest, but there was no lack of attention and service. You're not going to get 5-star luxury... More

The chalet was comfortable, the guide (Bryant) fantastic as was the boatman Joe. Wifi is pathetic. It is available and free, but is so slow as to be unavailable. Plus it is only accessed in one location which is open to mosquitoes. They could use citronella? Food needs to be rethought. As there were only four other tourists besides my... More

Hi tedster074, Thank you for your feedback and compliments to our guide and boatman. However, about the WiFi, as you know, the lodge is located in a remote area that can't reach via land and have no electricity and water supply from government. It is very limited accessibility for everything. While, the citronella is a good idea, well we do... More

We stayed here for two nights. The staff are all so friendly, food although basic was always delicious. The room was no thrills but comfortable and clean. We felt completely entrenched in the rainforest but in a safe way so we didn't have to worry too much about dangerous wildlife! Definitely recommend

Abai is the 3rd lodge on the Kinabatangan I've visited, and by far it's my favorite. Abai is isolated, so you don't have to share the river with a plethora of other tourist boats like you do in Sukau or Bilit. That in and of itself should give it mad points. There are more mangroves down here--more fireflies and less... More
