We arrived at Sunshine after a long hot motorcycle ride they were full however the lady on reception ‘arranged’ for us to stay at a family/friend’s room in a house. The so called delux room had a dirty shower no basic facilities like a bin or towels. It was full of mosquitoes and the ac didn’t work. The toilet didn’t flushes and water system was ‘interesting’ to say the least. We felt it impolite to refuse but got ripped off in the process being charged the price of a mid-high end hotel without breakfast and some nice smelly bedding to top it off. We’d planned to stay for 2 nights but got out as soon as able. Not sure what sunshine guest house is like but if the staff do this to potential guests I’d recommend trying somewhere else. I’d rate zero but not an option.
Away from loud traffic, honking noises and busy streets this lovely refuge a little outside of Tiruvannamalai is a breath of fresh air. Each room is dedicated to a different Hindu god and is tastefully furnished. There is a small garden in the courtyard and the best thing about this place is that parts of the guesthouse profits go to a children's home founded by the owners: So all the while you have a lovely stay, you can help a kid have a better life. TOTALLY recommended !
I’ve stayed many places in Tiru and Sunshine is by far my favorite place to land. I feel very well taken care of, the rooms are very comfortable and location is excellent. Far enough away from the main areas to be quiet and peaceful but close enough to feel like I can easily access the town areas and ashrams. Highly recommended
It is a quiet, clean, and accommodating place to stay. There is transportation readily available and reccomendations for sites and eateries. The best part is there a clear view of Arunachala and it’s close to the Ramana Ashram. I visited in Feb 2017. I have friends who have recently visited and have had good experiences.
This is the third time I stayed at this beautiful place. I absolutely love the fact that it’s a bit removed from the noise of the city and surrounded by farm land but yet it’s only minutes to Ramana ashram. Great view of Arunachala from the balconies. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated. Every room has a wate filter and air conditioner. Breakfast is prepared on request. Sathyan who owns the place is really friendly and helpful. He helped me organize tours and rides. Gave me tips on where to go and what time. I can’t wait to go back.
