Great pub food experience! If you like your pizza, parmas & burgers this is a great place to start with, in the picturesque Macedon Ranges. Had a beautiful lunch outside in the pub's courtyard with my lovely niece. Food was great! Service with a smile but was a bit slow to start with! Get in early I would suggest. Will be back however!

We read the recent reviews before venturing out, with a degree of trepidation. With expectations low we entered the warm establishment and were greeted by a typical Aussie country pub. The walls were adorned with hundreds of tap cards demonstrating the clear desire to offer a point of difference through craft beer diversity. Whilst I ordered my Tropical Moon Dog, I moved a dirty plate so I could lean on the bar. Looking over the many taps I noted 3 bins full of empties and broken glass. They either have wild Wednesday lunches, or the bins hadn’t been emptied since the weekend. As we looked to settle on a table selection, the decision was made easier by crossing the dirty table nearest the fireplace, off the list. We then attacked the menu. I looked through the pizza selections, turned the menu over and again looked through the pizza selections. Puzzled I asked if there was a reason the menu was the same on both sides. Never fear, they were just stuck together. Nothing a quick wipe clean couldn’t fix. We quickly ordered a garlic pizza, giving time to peruse the newly found listings. It arrived in double time and was delicious. Whilst the available menu offerings were not extravagant, there was sufficient choice to have multiple considerations. We settled on the chicken snitty and the chicken burger. Our meals came quickly, were priced reasonably, plenty flavoursome, and left us with food to spare. For a quiet Wednesday night in winter it gave us enough to not be disappointed in our evening out. As an added bonus the family friendly ambiance included a couple of kids harmlessly running amok, what did rate a mention was the young girl climbing the bar to lick the frozen beer tap, repeatedly. Not a reflection on the establishment, but certainly provided us with some entertainment!

I went to MMH last around 2-3 years ago in between Covid and had a great experience, food in particular the Pizza and service was top shelf, couldn't wait to get back and finally there today and WOW - it felt like it had been taken over by uni students with no idea on anything, granted it was busy with international tourists which made the experience even worse given they have no idea about manners and protocol in a country pub. There was no organisation in lining up, people we spilling over in all directions, the food (and the much anticipated Pizza) was like a frozen one barely heated, it was shocking - then the toilets, lets say I rather enter public toilet near the Richmond injection rooms....Don't now what happen between then and now but a bunch us will never return to this joint ever again, which is disappointing.

What a yuck joint! Arrived with friends (group of five) on the Boxing Day public holiday at around 3:40 P.M. and walked into a musty smelling bar (seriously, rip up the carpets!) with three people in it, which was surprising given the hot weather and it being a public holiday, however, we soon realised why the place was mostly empty - the service (coupled with the smell)! The five of us waited at the bar for a few minutes with no sign of any staff. It got a bit awkward after about three or four minutes of waiting and one of our group asked a guy sitting at the bar (who had seen us walk in and waiting), "Do you work here, mate?" To which he replied, "Oh, yeah, but not at the moment, I'm on my break." We were all shocked that he was that inattentive that he didn't think that maybe he could use his voice to corral the staff within the venue, whist maintaining his break time and not having to get up off the bar stool. He could've even got up and grabbed the staff and added the minute that would've taken back onto his break, but no, he just stared at us like a stunned mullet - it was honestly like something out of a movie, we all felt very uncomfortable. Where do you get staff this bad? We were all young once (I think this guy would've been around eighteen) and in our first jobs - but I'm fairly certain we used our brains, even at fifteen - younger than this guy! I feel there is someone far more deserving of his position. The outside dining area featured a table that hadn't been cleared in over two hours. Meals stopped at 2:00 P.M. and at 4:30 P.M. we asked for it to be cleared as the leftover Chicken Parmigiana and other food was attracting a lot of flies. Another table had a smashed wine glass on it and no sign of the patrons, who had probably left hours before. The garden area could also do with a mow. You're charging top dollar for food and drinks here and not pouring near enough back into the venue. Finally, the toilets (I'm told) accessible from the outside area are vile. I'm so very glad that I didn't venture in there. Have a bit of respect for your clientele; you've gotta spend money to make money. Such an underwhelming experience and venue, not even deserving of one star, honestly.

While I don’t make a point of writing negative reviews, I felt I needed to on this occasion. I had dinner with a small group of friends on Saturday night and it was such a disappointing experience. We were advised no pasta dishes were available, our food order was delivered incorrectly & we were told half way through our mains that we needed to order desserts now if we wanted any, as the kitchen would close soon. We declined as none of us were even thinking about desserts at that stage - we thought we’d just have coffees later. After that visit to our table however, wait service stopped completely - for the rest of the night we weren’t visited by a single staff member - both our table & the one next to us had empty plates & glasses piling up, right until we left. It was only as we were leaving that we realised why there were no staff around, they were all in the bar, with some of them even doing jigsaw puzzles! As a local who has visited numerous times over the years, it was a real let down & with plenty of other dining options in the area to choose from, I won’t be back.

We try this local pub out regularly to see if the management has changed. It hasn't. Always new staff, menu uninspiring, food lack lustre. My fish was dripping in oil. It has the potential to be great if it was run properly. Won't be back for a while.

Great staff, good atmosphere, great pizza, even the gluten free version, fresh drinks - beer and wine! Love the fire, friendly staff. Different spaces. Very quirky, definitely worth a visit. Try it, you'll enjoy it!

Have visited this pub many, many times and it’s always been fantastic but haven’t been for a number of years. We dropped in to get some lunch on a Tuesday. They were only doing pizzas which was fine with us. The floors were filthy, didn’t look like it had been vacuumed for weeks all the tables were sticky and dirty. There were chairs everywhere we had to move some to sit down. The fire was going which was lovely. There was no music, it was deathly quiet to the point of uncomfortable. We had the souvlaki pizza, it was horrible! We were the only ones there and none of the staff were doing anything to make an attempt to tidy or clean, very disappointing to say the least.
