Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

With good leadership, meaning a good GM with regular investment in maintenance, product selection, team training, salary review, etc. it could be a good resort on Koh Chang. Lack of professional and positive management: - Team members who hardly speak English? - Products cheapest of the cheapest (in the shop some of the "organic spa products" are resellers from other shops. - Restaurant needs a team leader, so team is not "forgetting" orders or takes 20 minutes for a cappuccino. - We booked the villa with private pool. Nice on the photos, but the pool villa we had is far away from the 45 sqm (booking.com) or 60 sqm (hotel website). - Pillow covers in the “pool villa” need to be cleaned or changed. - Small things like towel hangers need to be repaired. - Safe is available, but is so small that even a 13” notebook will not fit in. AND – every guest has the emergency opening key at the room key. Such a key can open ALL SAFES of the same model. Then you don’t need a safe at all. - Internet needs to be improved, capacity is often not enough and it is breaking off regularly! - “exceptional breakfast”?! well, I would say very poor (customers next table complained about poor variety). If you are so “detox” with top breakfast, then have more than 3 standard fruits (which I always had to ask for), have a variety of bread, of teas, some juices, cheese, coldcut. The cheapest chicken sausages, 1 type of warm bacon, some Thai dishes (which most guests - foreigners didn't take) ... - Gai Pad Med Mamuang is one of the most famous Thai dishes: Chicken with Cashew nuts. I am living in this country, and I never ever had it without cashews ... - Energy and water savings are mandatory for every hotel and resort which is a little thinking about future. But not only telling how “eco” you are – do it! A 17 year old minibar fridge where the door is not closing anymore consumes minimum 5 times the energy.

We did not stay at the resort (unfortunately) but discovered it by coincidence on bike passing by. We were amazed about the resort in every way and came back the next day for a treatment. I had a 90 minute back/neck/shoulder massage with employee named “Lek Lek” - and it was the best massage of my life. She is very skilled and opened my back in a new way - and with her happy spirit, she deserved a hug after the experience

I rarely write reviews but I had such a wonderful time at the Ko Chang Spa I feel compelled to share my experience with anyone considering the retreat. The setting is a stunning, beautifully curated jungle backdrop but with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay. We stayed in the hillside cottage rooms which are perfect for enjoying the view and have a fabulous (sheltered) outdoor bath (and indoor shower) to enjoy. Our balcony looked out onto the resort jungle and mountains! The staff are welcoming and happy to go the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need. Olivia is the wonderfully spirited resident yoga and detox guru who ensures your detox programme is tailored to your needs and keeps you motivated - if that’s the reason for your visit. The thai and essential oil massages were excellent (thanks to Nalini and Lek) and I left knot free! There’s on-site complementary kayaking along the mangroves and local trips to a waterfall and stunning Long Beach - which I recommend highly! The food is freshly made and tasty although the breakfast is a little basic. Lunch and dinner options were good. At times I struggled to communicate with some of the restaurants staff due to their lack of English and although I agree I should be attempting to speak Thai when in Thailand - it would have been helpful for all if they spoke some basic English. The owners grandmother was often onsite and spoke fantastic English - she will attempt to teach it I’ve been told. There’s also a handy complementary taxi to and from the ferry port included. If you want a retreat in a unique, peaceful setting, surrounded by nature with a great pool, lake, daily yoga and massages on site then the Koh Chang Spa is the perfect choice!!

Having done the detox multiple times at The Spa Samui Lamai Beach & Village, I was keen to experience this as a comparison. Oh my word I’m so glad I did! It is the exact same programme which I know and love, and which really works. Even has ‘Guy’s breakfast’ on the menu 😄. The refurbished rooms are beautiful, ours had a huge bathtub and amazing balcony. The room was a fabulous size with an extremely comfortable kingsize bed. Massage was amazing too, including Ampuku. Gym needs an overhaul, but I imagine that is next on the refurbish agenda. But there is yoga, and there are bicycles and kayaks free to use. If you know the sister Spa’s in Samui this is more like the village in its peaceful location, but nicer as it’s not as hilly. It doesn’t have anything nearby so if you want to explore the busier parts of the island you’ll need a car/scooter. The nearest beach is Long beach, 10 min shuttle from the hotel, and one of the loveliest we’ve found in Thailand. This is the perfect detox oasis and I’m already planning my next trip. Thank you to Poon & your team, your resort is a magical haven in a crazy world.

I couldn’t have start my vacations better! I arrived being exhausted from life, definitely needed a break - and in the second I entered this beautiful gem, I felt I‘m able to breath again. Sounds pathetic - but it‘s just the truth. Nuch and her family run a beautiful place with just a few bungalows in the greenest area you could imagine. It’s on the way less touristy east side of Koh Chang - and it is actually WAY more beautiful than the pictures I can see here show. They also recently renovated the restaurant, the reception area and also a couple bungalows. The fast&detox retreat was so professionally and lovely accompanied - I called Nuch my Detox Mama after only 2 days. Really couldn’t feel more de-stressed and lovely treated as I experienced there. Thanks again for everything <3

If you want to reset your body and mind, look no further. It’s becoming my ritual now to come here every year. You will leave this place with a new body and new perspective. You will not be able to find anything like this at this price in Thailand.

The Spa Koh Chang Resort "This review was written just after the easing of travel restrictions. At this time, very few people were travelling and hotels working with skeleton staff and reduced facilities". The Spa Koh Chang Resort is almost one of those ‘fantasy’ hotels that one dreams of discovering. Leaving the ferry, one sees all the other cars turn right and you turn left to the lesser populated side of Koh Chang island. It’s a peaceful drive with little to challenge the natural beauty and pristine seascape. In fact the Eastern coast is really the most beautiful and less populated. Just as one thinks that the road leads nowhere the sign to The Spa Resort Koh Chang greats you. Down a little track and slowly the mystique of the resort reveals itself. It’s like a jungle, but look carefully and one sees that the vegetation is well cared for and between this luxurious greenery, small cabins appear. Welcome to The Spa Resort! Apologies for my rather lyrical introduction but these were our thoughts as we approached. It was just after local travel restrictions had been relaxed and there were few cars on the ferry. It was early and we did not have any reservation, but I had heard about The Spa, wanted to see and so glad that we visited. We had the honour of sharing the resort with just 2 other guests so it was like our private retreat and the staff were happy to see us and treated us so well. Most of the rooms in the resort are in the little 2 storey Hill Cottages built on one side. Irregular walkways lead to these little houses. The rooms on the ground floor appear a little smaller and we chose a Hill Cottage Double Room on the upper floor of this little villa. The room was beautiful. Large, traditional, full of character and yet featuring all modern amenities. Teak flooring throughout, large bathroom with rain shower, comfortable double bed with mosquito net and a lovely balcony for morning tea! The ‘resort’ is as natural as any resort that I have ever visited. Not manufactured natural but real, natural nature with all construction most inconspicuous. A central pond is the feature and leads to the creek out into the Mangrove forests, when the tide is in! Reception is open air and simple and on the first floor their charming restaurant which specialises in excellent and creative vegetarian/healthy dishes. There is a large Spa complex and beautiful salt-water pool with many hidden sun decks for privacy and relaxation. Looking on the website one sees that The Spa specialises in Health, De-tox, Yoga and other holistic practises. At the time of our visit, naturally none of these facilities were operating. We very much enjoyed The Spa Resort for its relaxed, peaceful and back to nature atmosphere. The peace here is deafening!

We had the chance to stay in the newly renovated pool villa and it was extremely pleasant, from the decoration and comfort of the room, to the beautiful view from the terrasse and the small private pool.
