Simply put this hotel did the job for us - a one night stay after being left slightly stranded in Kirkenes after our flights turned out to be a day later with no other options. We had two rooms on the ‘first floor’ - both had single beds that were fairly comfortable and seemed to be clean. The bathroom light didn’t work and flickered but we weren’t hanging about to need to complain. There were a few questionable items around the room including something in the fridge we didn’t want to inspect any closer. But quite simply - this hotel saved us for the night and my personal highlight was the luggage lift!

We stayed for one night in advance of staring a cruise down the Norway coast. The hotel is very well located in the centre of the town and opposite the shopping centre which has good local and airport bus links. After finding the hotel we waited a long time to check in. There was no one at the desk and no way to gain attention -they should consider leaving a bell on the desk. The hotel is linked to a Chinese restaurant which was busy and seemed popular with locals. After a protracted check in involving conversations with the cleaners to find out which rooms were available and other issues with accessing rooms we finally settled in. The rooms are on the small side and quite dated but were clean and perfectly adequate for the night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay because of the list of characters we met who work in the hotel - all were helpful and friendly. It was truly a memorable experience.

Good budget option in Kirkenes. It’s not the Four Seasons in quality, but is fine for a few days. Quiet location just off the pedestrian mall. 20-25 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Clean bed and washroom facilities. Front desk is not staffed in the morning or late at night.

We experienced this as very bad. They don't care about taking care of guests. The employees have very bad attitudes and speak Norwegian and English poorly. If a problem arises with your booking, you cannot count on these people to come forward and help you. Never experienced such bad service ever.
Miserable rooms with poor standards and poor cleaning. Simply a lousy hotel with useless staff.

First say: The Kirkens Hotel is not recommended !!!  There is an Asian restaurant on site.  The waiter is the receptionist - which caused a wait of about half an hour at the reception (19:30).  Upon entering the room, filthy toilets with urine and fecal remains were discovered (see photo).  I called the receptionist to see and give me cleaning supplies that I would clean.  The entire shower room was not cleaned.  There were curtains, but not blackout curtains.  During the night - from the reception we smoked and all the smell entered the room.  And the coffee machine at the entrance did not work.  There was no room available in Kirknet, otherwise I would have moved immediately.

Rooms are simple but clean, that is all what I need and whay I expect from a low budget hotel. It is in a good position nearby the shopping center and restaurants (the hotel has also a restaurant). What I really appreciate is the kindness of the staff. They were really nice and welcoming!

This is an old hotel that is well located in a very small city, however it leaves much to be desired. There are stairs like in many old hotels, but the young man at the desk did help us with our luggage when I requested assistance. Although we had made our reservation several months in advance and had an e-mail confirmation, we were told that we didn't have a reservation, but the four of us could have the last 2 available rooms. Later we saw a sign outside advertising vacancies. The room was small, basic and in need of a good cleaning The bed and pillows were less than comfortable. Breakfast was included and was served in the on-site Chinese restaurant. Since we were less than comfortable we opted to move to the Rica Arctic Hotel and the young man at the desk was again helpful with our luggage and would not accept a tip. I couldn't in conscience recommend this hotel, but would commend the desk clerk for his understanding and helpfulness.

We stayed in the Kirkenes hotell for one night, and even though it was OK , I don't think I would recommend it to anybody. When we arrived, we had problems getting the rooms we had booked, but it ended well and we got the rooms we were promised. The rooms were nicely furnished, and the bathroom was small, but adequate and quite modern. The minibar in one of the rooms had a temperature at about 45 degrees Celsius, and the wall was smashed (must have been some party). There were red ear-plugs on the night-table as we arrived, and being Saturday night and disco night on the ground floor, they really came in handy... The breakfast was plain but OK and served in the Chinese restaurant in the same house. We ate dinner there the next day, and it is the most expensive Chinese-restaurant I have ever been to - and the food was below average. Internet in the lobby - free of charge. No elevator, but the luggage was sent up in the small "food-elevator", so you don't have to carry it up the stairs. All in all - quite OK, but nothing I would crave for to stay in again.

TYhe hotel itself is OK, the reception is only manned after 12.00 pm, it is situated in the center of Kirkenes. Avoid the breakfast, it is expensive, and made the day before and left in the fridge for you to get in the kitchen.

We fly in and check-in quite late. Nothing much around here. It was snowing before we arrived, covered with snow everywhere. We followed a trekking trail into the woods in hunting out for the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights with very little success, quite disappointed. Rooms are clean, good sleep and good breakfast. That's all i can say about here.
