The Scandic was just what we needed after disembarking from the Hurtigruten in Kirkenes. We could store our luggage straight away, have a coffee and then check in early. The rooms were clean, tidy and well laid out, exactly what you’d expect from the Scandic chain. The price of accommodation in Kirkenes is steep, but don’t let that put you off a wonderful destination.

We finished our Hurtigruten cruise at 9am and we're taking an 8.20pm flight to Tromso the same day. The hotel staff were brilliant and allowed us to store our luggage for the day for 40 NOK per bag in a secure locked room. Other hotels did not offer this service and there are no lockers in the town.

My wife and I stayed at Scandic Kirkenes one night in connection with our ceremony with Havila Kystruten from Kirkenes to Bergen the following day.
We arrived somewhat late by flight from Oslo in the evening, and we were pleasantly received at the reception. The check-in took, naturally, some time, since we were a lot of air passengers to be lodged.
We got a nice room on the 3rd floor, which faced the street. There was little traffic outside at night and we slept well. For our travel purposes the room contained everything we needed.
In the morning we came down to a crowded breakfast hall. Breakfast was excellent and rich but we felt the room was at least made for so many guests and it was a bit narrow in the area where the food was laid.
Here you might have organized the queue a little better, for example, with a sign that said which way to go, alternatively given the opportunity to choose the meal time.
It seemed that very many were going to Kystruten (we met many of them again on the boat), and with departure for the ship at 1230, there is relatively plenty of time to eat.
Upon check-out we were greeted by a very nice staff at the reception, who explained us the way to walk from the hotel to the ship, and at the same time advised us to take a small step to the Victory Monument, which is not far from the way from the hotel to the ship. An extra little plus in the beautiful weather we experienced in Kirkenes that day.
We can safely recommend the hotel for travelers who are planning a stay in connection with a Coast Route/Short Route trip. And an extra plus: The airport bus stops right outside the hotel.

Unpleasant reception staff, charging for access to the room if it is before 3 p.m., room supposed to be cleaned, but the floor has not been cleaned for a long time and it is very visible. Outdated bathroom, broken toilet seat, yellowish sink, no tissues, glasses or bottle of water: The bare minimum and it's a 4 star??? Soviet style hairdryer from the 60s, just like the decor besides and the pompom: the swimming pool and the sauna which attract the customer are closed because of the cold even though they are indoors and it is -20 for part of the year. Since there is nothing to do in this Hurtigruten terminus town, great stay!!! Absolutely avoid…

At Scandic Hotel Kirkenes the room is nice but could be more cozy. The shower cabin could be a bit larger. The breakfast is very good, the service-personnel is helpful and friendly. Free parking in front of the hotel is available. The price of the room was too expensive (around 145,00 EUR I paid per night inc. breakfast - single occupancy).

I had an unexpected stay after my husband had an accident and was admitted to a local hospital. The hotel staff were lovely and the hotel was in an excellent location. The staff were very helpful in helping me get taxis and accommodating when I requested a disabled room for when my husband joined me. The plan my husband was going to join me, but then needed up an extra night at he hospital. I slept very well and enjoyed the breakfast and dinner which was available. The only small thing was the wall fan is always on and you can hear it buzzing gently, which if you like silence when you are going to to sleep can be a bit annoying.

Loyalty program Scandic top floor seems not much worth when you are two and room has one chair, or one cup etc. Generally satisfied when travelling alone, then often a "welcome" text/candy,two chairs and sometimes even a sofa -but not when needed, when 2 persons. Then it can be one of each, like last two times. Last weekend was 2 cups, but one chair.

The Pension is a bit old. The rooms are sober and the bathroom is old. The pool has a maximum depth of about 1 meter. There is a small sauna and the steam room does not seem to work anymore. But the breakfast is rather well supplied with salty and sweet for all tastes. That's why I give a review as well. The Pension is central. For Hurtigruten it is possible to walk without problems because it is not far. Beware the GPS gives a wrong direction. After the small monument in the center of a crossroads. Turn left.

My flight was cancelled Sunday night and was met with the fact that she didn’t have time to cook when I arrived at the hotel. Despite the fact that I had a voucher of 300kr. Nor did I get food in the morning when I was to fly early as she didn’t have time for it when there were many check-in. I think this is bad and there must be a better arrangement for guests who arrive late and will fly early again. Other than that, the hotel was fine.

I booked the Scandic as a surprise honeymoon for my wife and it was the best choice I ever made, apart from my wife!! :-)
The location is perfect for seeing Kirkenes and getting to the snow hotel, the Russian boarder is a short bus drive and nice to see and cross if you have a visa! the town was full on lingonberry trees, lovely to see in the snow!
The hotel has everything you need the swimming pool and sauna are just what you need after a day out in the cold. Spotlessly clean and anything you needed from dietary to local attractions was dealt with by a very knowledgeable reception team.
Breakfast is amazing! so much choice for everyone, the best food we ate in Norway, thanks to all the kitchen staff for our honeymoon platter :-) and housekeeping for making our room a beautiful surprise. A nice selection of restaurants to choose from in town that cater for everyone and all budgets, just ask reception and they will show you on the map.
I would like to say a big thank you to Anita & Benjamin for making our honeymoon so special and memorable. We are looking forward to returning and seeing more of the area.
Many thanks
Matthew & Pauline

There is a shuttle bus and if I remember correctly it is about 150 kroner per person. The company is called Barents Buss.
I'm afraid I am unable to give you an answer on this occasion
There is a Airport Bus from and to the airport and the hotel. The fee is minimal. As for the transfer to the Hurtigruten there is a bus transfer to and from the hotel. I have not used it myself but I can not imagine it is free. If the weather is nice it is a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the Hurtigruten ship - and taxi is also available. Arriving at the hotel, they will book it for you if you have not done it beforehand.
Scandic should hold the luggage for nothing if you’re staying there. The bus to the airport is not reliable, so I would suggest a cab, even though it’s more expensive.
It is 1500 meters / 20 min til walk from Hurtigruten to Scandic. Check Google maps.
There is a grocery store across the street. Opening hours are 09:00-21:00
