We booked the Room-service package in a suite and had accommodation in a suite with jacuzzi located in the Manor house. The reception is located in a separate building that looked like a 80s conference building, this was a bit disappointing. After check in we got directed to the Manor house. When entering the Manor it was impressive, walking up to the second floor, it becomes apparent that it’s starting to get old. We got to our room and it’s size was very nice with a separate sitting area with sofa and armchairs, bedroom area with the bathroom. But unfortunately the room was not well cleaned at all. A lot of sand on the carpet, dust in every corner and in the middle of the floor. Sheets and towels seemed clean, there was morning gowns available for loan in the suite. The bed itself was comfortable, very high up so you have to climb a bit, but fluffy duvets and pillows. There is a minibar available in the room. Dinner and breakfast is served in the suite, from the castle kitchen. A three course dinner, is delivered to the room, all dishes are delivered at the same time, packed in boxes. You get a large box to pack used plates and cutlery in it and put it outside after dinner. If you want wine with the food, I would recommend to bring your own, the selection in the reception is not paired with any of the food. Next morning a breakfast bag with sandwiches, fruit, juice and coffee is delivered to the room. For coffee you have a Dulce Gusto machine in the room, and you get capsules with the breakfast bag. The surrounding area with the garden is open to the public, and there was a huge amount of people walking just outside the Manor house, many of them barbecuing, playing games, shouting, so note that it is not a relaxing area during good weather. It can be very difficult to get parking if the garden is full with visitors.

Hello Pia! We are sorry we haven't seen your review until now. The manor is very old, from the 18th and 19th century, but it was renovated in the 21st century. From your description you had booked a room-service package, where you eat a dinner in your room and not in the castle restaurant. We are very sorry that the rugs on the hardwood floors had not been vacuumed properly. Soon most of our regular cleaning people are back from their vacation and all routines will work smoothly again.

We stayed in the red house “herrskapet” room 502. One of the houses that are not yet remodeled. But I thought it was nice and love the jacuzzi . The surroundings are so nice with the water and trees. We had a 3 meal course. Just perfect. You can play pool , dart, go to the sauna or take a dip at the outdoor jacuzzi. Or go to the beach for a swim( too cold for me;)

I booked a visit and a Christmas dinner buffet from my country of residence, this was to be the highlight of the trip to Sweden, and a family and friends’ gathering. Being quite costly, a few local dine here, My local friends’ had recommended this particular Christmas buffet. A hot mulled Wine was served previous to seating, and we sipped our “ glögg” amazing the place. the Castle is ancient, beautiful and ambient. The starters and fish buffet in particular was various and tasty. By and by We Cameron to cold cuts, ham and sausages, and Wars food. Now my best friend and Mom are like myseldning very fond of meatballs, Janson’s Temptation is another favourite. The meatballs were something that made us all loose appetite: Blackened, means burned, oil tasting salt less lumps of pure ground beeef without any trace of spaces. The worst was the meat being raw inside. We all spitted these terrible meat- something out and finished our drinks, going further to the sumptuous dessert buffet. Besides all this, the Janson’s Temptation, Jansons Frestelse, was reheated several times, and patted back into the pan. Day after I said this is the most expensive diarrhea I’ve ever had: 3000 SEK. As a high end chef I have very fiery opinions now and suggest the chef standing behind this mischief, obviously lacking respect for clients, should quit. You care for your job, you don’t perform this kind of cheat. Meatballs, properly made, takes a professional less than half an hour for 150-200 pc. I won’t recommend this venue, neither will I return, this was total down the bottom- experience of this year, and I don’t remember whenever been through this in Sweden. Total fiasco, living on previous merits and a reputation that is nothing but an old reputation. Sundbyholm Castle, an experience I’d rather have lived without.

We are so sorry that we did not at all live up to your expectations regarding the meatballs, since you seem to have liked other things like our environment, appetizers (fish buffet) and dessert table. The Christmas buffet consists of more than 80 different dishes, even though we know that there is no excuse for not making every dish tasty. You can be sure of that our chefs and bakers are experienced and well educated and follow all health regulations stipulated by the authorities.

Sundbyholms Slott is wonderfully located by the lake Mälaren in front of the building. Here you can spend some days, walking in the nature, take a boat trip during the summer or only relax. With a nice restaurant with fine dining, you can have some peaceful days. Unfortunately, the breakfast doesn't reach the same high level as is normal in Swedish hotels. We got a room with a nice view over the lake. However, one of the beds were dirty and we had to remove the bed sheet and then make the bed with reverse side of the sheet. Under the pillows we found a pools coupon of Swedish trotting (unfortunately, no winning coupon) from a former guest. As the reception was closed in the late evening, we couldn't ask for a new room but apparently the housemaid hadn't changed the linens in one of the beds. During the night, when we slept, the bedside table totally collapsed so we had to repair it which disturbed us very much as we needed to sleep. As a result of what is mentioned above, we became very disappointed. When we checked out the lady at the reception asked if we were satisfied with the stay. We told her about the linens and the pools coupon, and the only answer was that she felt sorry for that! Nothing more! I had expected some compensation but not a word about that. What to say? The hotel is good and has a great rumour for nice accommodation. We think that our experience was an "accident" but of course, if we come back, we will inspect the beds as soon as possible after arrival which we recommend all guests to do.

Dear guests, We are happy that you liked our surroundings and our restaurant but we are so sorry for our mistake with your hotel room. Even if only one guest slept in the room the night before you, we of course should have made both beds and not just the used bed. A single guest can use the other bed for hiding things under the pillow even if the guest doesn't actually sleep in both beds. We do hope that you will come back to us and want you to know that even if the reception isn't open in the middle of the night we always have a night guard on duty. The night guard would have given you a new room immediately if you had just dialed a "9" on your room phone. This information could be found in the information brochure in your hotel room. The bedside table you are referring to hangs on the wall and the table leg needs to be pulled out if a guest wants to use it. If the table leg isn't pulled out all the way the bedside table may collapse, which means that it goes back to its normal position of hanging on the wall.

Old run down place, it’s a lack of wiifii in many of cabins or houses. The rooms with lake view is n main building is facing a car park then marina and some water. It has a 80’s feeling. Restaurant is good and food ok. The hot tub outside was not recommended by staff due to bacteria because hot weather, that makes me think they don’t have right product to clean. Service staff looks shabby. And not so clean cut. Outside place to eat is dirty and the beach nearby is also very dirty cigarette butts and other stuff lying in the sand.

You are quite right that the wifi in some of the small cabins/chalets is very weak, in contrast to the very strong wifi in all the other hotel buildings here. Our supplier of computer services is currently looking into the matter. We are sorry that you couldn't rent the hot spas during your stay with us. All guests need to be safe and bacteria can grow very quickly in hot water (39 degrees Celsius year-round). With the maintenance staff having one week of overlapping vacation we had them closed during that week just to be safe. This has been an extraordinary hot summer with thousands of people visiting the beach and we have very often seen how the local authorities have been sending their staff to clean the beach from cigarettes. We are glad that you liked our restaurant.

Many thanks for taking your time to write about our midsummer celebration. Guests are coming from different countries to enjoy this event. We always wonder what they think when they see the Swedes dancing and singing around the maypole and behaving like frogs. We are very glad that you had a nice time here.

This hotel is on the grounds of the "castle" which is really a villa with some history. There are no hotel rooms in the castle. Many rooms face harbor/lake. Room adequate. Good shower. No elevator. We could not find a hair dryer. Breakfast ok but the layout created congestion. Breakfast and dinner are offered in the villa building. Good internet. Parking is a bit of an issue and usually requires parking in a remote lot. This place is OK but lacks charm and all things considered is a 3-star property. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

Many thanks for taking your time to write a review. It is true that there will never be any rooms in the castle (historically owned by a member of the royal family which is why it is called a castle and not a grand villa) but this could be an advantage for guests who want noise-free sleep without being bothered by the sound from weddings and parties. There are several buildings belonging to the hotel. In the larger hotel building the hair dryers are found in the bed side tables, but in the smaller hotel buildings they are all mounted on the walls of the bath rooms.
