The hotelrooms are situated in the outbuildings of the castle. There are 4 hotelrooms. Those are romanticly equipped. It also offers a few appartements with a little garden. It is a sereen surrounding. The nature is here at its best: lost of woods were you can take long walks. Internet is free, but a bad signal. Breakfast: € 12,-.

We stayed for a long weekend here. The castle is beautiful and situated next to a forest which is great for long walks with the dog. The apartments are not in the castle but in the old stable buildings. They are dated but clean and spacious. Lounge, kitchenette, dining table on the ground floor and bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. My...

We were very excited to stay here and the area is absolutely stunning. However, when booking we were not informed that we needed to bring our own sheets and towels which cost an extra 80 euro for the whole family when checking in, after paying for the room. Plus you had then go make your own bed. The beds were...

We spend a weekend in the holiday houses (apartments) in the old carriage house of Schaloen Castle. Gorgeous surroundings, the castle is just picture-perfect but the apartments need a re-decoration. We stayed in the "comfort" apartment., the most expensive I hate to think what the other apartments look like. Furtinure was very old fashioned, bathroom needs to be upgraded and...

We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was perfect. The castle and grounds are very beautiful, and the restaurant is great (big portions!! And authentic Dutch food - loved their Bitterballen). The apartments themselves are fully self contained - full kitchen, bedrooms with view of the castle or a view of the river, a big lounge room, and a...

We wanted to stay close to the city centre of Valkenburg in a castle but its difficult to find an affordable castle with great view. So I told him then maybe stay outside the city centre, that's when we found the Schaloen castle in Oud Valkenburg (i think this is already part of the Schin op Geul). Its affordable, and...

PROS: 1. The premises are beautiful and the castle makes for lovely pictures. We booked because they accepted dogs. They were indeed dog friendly and many of the apartment guests had dogs. The hotel is a little too far to walk to the Christmas markets but is a very short drive. 2. The attached restaurant was very quaint. We had...

Stayed here for 2 nights in June 2014. On check in we were told we had to pay cash as they did not accept Visa debit or credit cards, only Dutch cards. Found this very strange. Had to hire bed linen and towels and also make our own bed up. As I have read previously the apartments do have thin...

We stayed here in December 2013 with 2 couples and one child. The approach is magnificent as you drive up the lane towards the castle. The lady that welcomed us was professional and showed us our apartment that was located just outside the castle itself. I think it were the stables in the early days. The apartment is small but...
