The good; Location just touching with bus stop in middle of island B'fast good Welcoming interior Comfy rooms Walking distance from nature walks/routes etc. Great rental bikes Supermarket just around the corner perfect to buy lunches for picnics... Could be better; Maybe they can give more shower/gels etc. As a small bottle between two ppl is a bit too little...... More

Well, if you're looking for a cosy, busy hotel with elderly guests, then you are at the right place. Actually not exactly what we were looking for. But for two bights it was ok. Rooms (tuin suite) were spacious, however rather old and especially curtains brown and grey from potential smoking. We like it spacious, light, modern and will therefore... More

We stayed @ de Walvisvaarder, the room was very nice and clean. the staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. The breakfest was great, with good coffee and different types of tea. A very nice place to stay, in the middle of the Island Terschelling.

We stay there a couple of nights every year for business and appreciate this hotel. The tuinsuites are fabulous, the bathroom with Jacuzzi and Turkish bath are especially great. Unwinding in the bar around the central open fire is a pleasure we have come to count on during our repeated visits. Service is super friendly and the breakfast has all... More

My family has stayed at the Walvisvaarder on multiple occasions. It is a wonderful and quaint hotel which has been consistently excellent since we first started staying there. The location is excellent in the center of the island. Any part of the island can easily be reached after a nice bicycle ride. Bicycles are available to rent at the hotel... More

I stayed in the "Tuinsuite" at 115 €/day including Bf and I recommend the place. The suite has a total of 3 separate rooms, 2 TV's, jacuzzi type bathtub and Turkish bath shower (stoombad). Everything is tastefully decorated and spotless clean but the room heating, delivered through the floor, is a bit low. It does not let itself regulate through... More

This is a tremendously large hotel for the island of Terschelling with around 100 hotels rooms. The rooms and the surroundings are very basic, which made the hotel overpriced (at 100 euros/night). Moreover, it lacks charm. They offer a set menu in the evening (at 22 euros), but the rice with chicken seemed unappealing.

Put simply, there wasn't anything you could fault at De Walvisvaarder. I stayed here with five girlfriends for a weekend break. The staff are very friendly and nothing seems too much hassle to them. We stayed in a luxury room which was spacious and nicely furnished. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower. The breakfast buffet offered a decent... More

Very friendly staff. Excellent facilities - free sauna and bikes to hire for very reasonable price! Breakfast buffet was wonderful - everything you could possible want! I recommend eating in the hotel in the evening - a set menu with salad buffet which changes every day. Food was wonderful and such good value! Roaring open fire in the centre of... More

De Walvisvaarder is a nice hotel in the middle of the island Terschelling. We stayed here twice, both times were excellent. The hotel has some different rooms. We've only stayed at the biggest suites or rooms. (I believe they have 2 or 3 of these) The normal rooms didn't look too big to me when I sneaked in from the... More
