Clearly one of the very best hostel-experiences I've ever had! Even as a female solo-traveller I felt super safe all the time – and never really alone unless I wanted to be. Everyone is so open-minded and the program at the bar (and the beer) is simply awesome! It was so nice to hang around there at different times (even as an introvert). What I loved the most was the night program – every night of the week was different and it was just lovely to hang out there at night and meet a good mix of locals and travellers. The mixed dorm was clean and quiet (just a bit warm and humid, but it was around 30°C outside, so I guess this was ineviteable). They even had soy milk for breakfast :-)! There is so much to see near the hostel – the location is so perfect. Loved the sunsets at the beach, a yogasession by the ocean, swimming every day, hikes in the dunes or go „fietsen“ through awesome landscapes (there is a bike rental just around the corner which they recommended). Also I loved the food at the beach bars. Piggies... Thank you for making me fall in love with Nordwijk! I had the time of my life and can't wait to be back.…

The only mistake I made in booking this Hostel was not staying for longer. From the moment I arrived there was magic in the air. The Hostel itself is very simple and rustic, in a cosy way. What would you expect from a beach hostel in small coastal town. But the staff were welcoming and friendly. Most of them are volunteer staff from all over the world. They were always on hand to offer suggestions or help with any issues. I stayed in the 12 person dorm and it was very peaceful. All the other guests were conscious of others. The bathrooms and showers are fairly small, but there is plenty of hot water. The beds are comfortable but there are no ladders to get to the top bunks, so this might be an issue for someone shorter. Lockers aren't included in the price but you can rent them for extra. Although I left all my stuff by my bed and had no issues. The hostel bar and outside area are fantastic social hubs. They are open to the local population and the locals make use of it. I met some fantastic people who I will never forget. Everyone is friendly and approachable. The beach is stunning. Beautiful golden sands span on as far as the eye can see. Rolling waves make it ideal for surfing or paddle boarding. You can rent beach bikes or just sunbathe the day away. I cannot recommend this hostel enough. It snuck its way into my heart and I will be returning ASAP.…

A perfect little hostel to get away to the beach for a day! Clean showers & bathrooms & very comfortable beds. Was loud in the morning with people walking on the floorboards above but apart from that, I would recommend & come again in the future!

This is your typical indie/hippie hostel. It’s got great staff who enjoy what they do and want to have fun with the guests. It’s got great decor and great social spaces with a decent bar and organised party events every night. Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned on a regular basis and I never had a problem with hygiene. If you want to have a good time with a beach on your doorstep (great in the summer), then look no further.

Company ------------ I was riding bikes with my wife. We just wanted to sleep and ride on the next day. Reception ------------- The person at the reception was super friendly. There is a strong cannabis smell in the hostel. Price ------ The price was ok-ish. Bathroom ------------ I'm not easily disgusted, really. But when I entered this bathroom. It was horrible. The person before me. omg. Luckily later that night it was cleaned. Checkout ------------ We forgot to checkout. But they did not make a hassle of it. Sleeping ----------- We were a room of 4. and three of us were sleeping when at night an ïnstagram influencer" came in and started filming with his Led light on and making selfies. He then went to the toilet but locked himself out. Knocking ensued. Not ideal. I have slept in worse conditions though. Absolute worst: Full Moon Backpacker Hotel (Bristol). Breakfast ------------- The breakfast was good. we enjoyed it (and the company) and went our way.…

We would come here for just one day and stayed five. Good atmosphere if you like partying and talking to people from all over the world! Don't expect sleepening too much. However if you wanna rest just go to the beach which is really close!

It is as described in the website. Definitely one-of-a-kind experience. They even provide free ear-plugs for guests who love their beauty sleep! The breakfast was included in my stay and they provide a decent spread. The kitchen is accessible to all guests which is a perk if you are planning to cook your way around.

You can’t expect anything better, Truly loved my stay at the flying pig. Just a minute walk to the amazing beach and the staff is extremely helpful and lovely people around. Its upto you if you wanna socialise people are welcoming or if you want your lone time noone gonna bother you. I stayed there for 3 nights from 4-7 july I’ve stayed in many hostels in my six weeks solo vacation but this one was next level. Away from the hustle bustle and crowded city centre but not that far; these awesome people run an amazing shuttle service four times a day to and from city. Very convenient to reach. Highly recommend. Superlove to the piggies and special thanks to the manager who takes care of each and every individual personally. Ashish

One of the best hostel in my entire trip. The staff is really helpful and the breakfast is great. Don't miss the beach just right across the street. You can easily find a bus to Leiden Centraal. Really great for solo travellers.
