We were in for the July 4th holiday 2016 and it was amazing! Towels for the beach, beautiful fire pits and patio with wait staff! The rooms are charming! We were concerned that our room was backed up to the fire pits and patio but they have strict time that the pits are put out- approx. 10pm, and it was... More

Thank you so much for all your kind words. July 4th is definitely a fun weekend and you are correct - July 3rd is the fireworks, weather permitting, and the parade is July 4th so lots of fun building up to the holiday. We are taking reservations now so book any time! More

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 8 July 2016

We needed a one night stay on Block Island and found this place among the possibilities. Booking was easy. Had a great experience here. Spent the extra money for a corner Queen and it was well worth it. Nice views of the harbor and the foot traffic. The bed was unspectacular but comfortable. Cool breezes through both windows. Adequate bathroom... More

Very clean hotel, convenient to the ferry, great location on the water front. Our room was comfortable but small. I think there are a number of amenities that could make this a great place to stay, but, because we visited in October most of them were shut down. The restaurant was closed, the porch was empty, the fire pit was... More

Thank you for staying with us. The off season is definitely a little different but also a nice time to just relax. Hopefully you will visit us in season some time too. The restaurant is usually open from the week before Memorial Day through the month of September. More

We stayed here one night on a Monday in the off season. From the moment we stepped into the lobby and heard the classical music playing I was swept away. This old fashioned victorian hotel is lovely. Beautiful woodwork and carpets- lush without being gaudy. Front desk service was extremely friendly. There are no elevators, so beware of that if... More

We were lucky enough to get a very last minute booking at the National in one of their ocean view suites for a quick couples getaway. It's a wonderful place to stay, particularly if you are facing the water and don't mind a little dated quirkiness. Guests should know that there is no air conditioning or lifts, the latter of... Its a bit difficult to write a good review for this hotel. Two issues that you probably have learned by now by looking at other reviews and even the hotels website are no air conditioning and no elevators. We stayed in early September, and the heat was not much of an issue, but I would think it would be in... More

I went to Block Island with a local tour company. We stayed at The National Hotel, which is on the National Historic Register. There wasn't any air conditioning nor elevators. We knew that going on this trip. I went with a girlfriend of mine. We requested an ocean view, which they stated would not be a problem. When we arrived,... More

I would like to start by thanking you for coming to Block Island and staying at the National. We have been hosting your tour company for many years now and certainly appreciate that. And I am sorry that you were disappointed in your room. One of the hardest parts of hosting a tour group in a historic property like ours... More

My wish the day we visited Block Island is to eat lunch while sitting on a restaurant with the view of the ocean. Price and food did and matter but we got lucky. We had a lovely view of the docks in the front patio. My cold lobster tail sandwich was delicious. My son enjoyed his clams with alfredo sauce... More

Great location, nice staff, breakfast was good and the bar decent. Very nice outdoor patio as well. Compared to other hotels this time of year the price was the best. Yes, the hotel is dated and the rooms are very small with no AC however you get what you pay for. We stayed overnight during a very humid heat wave... More
