Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best holiday experience we ever had. Don’t have to go anywhere for activities. Plenty of wildlife viewing inside the property including Kangaroos, Echidnas, Beautiful parrot's, Kookaburras. And out side the property you can see Koalas, swans and many other wildlife life. Beautiful gardens and facilities. Private beach is the best. We enjoyed the fire pit next to beach and it was great to see sunrise and moonrise both over the water. But as first timers Kayaking topped all. Enjoyed chatting with host Tony and patting Casper. Thanks you Tony and hopefully see you soon again.

We loved the property it was so clean and we had everything we needed and also the breakfast provided was amazing 🥳 It was lovely and quiet and it was so nice to have crimson rosellas at our window in the morning ( wild bid food was provided) which was a lovely extra touch. Kirsten and Tony were absolutely amazing hosts ,we had lovely talks and nothing was to much trouble. And when the local ferry broke down it was a potentially a stressful situation to get home .Kirsten really looked after us and went above and beyond, she was wonderful and we were very grateful ❤️

Beautiful historical cottage right in front of an amazing lake. You walk just maybe 60 metres to your own access to the lake, which is clean and shallow, very safe to swim. Or you can stay in the very comfortable armchairs provided, reading a book and relaxing or even cook your dinner in the barbecue there. To make it even better the wifi is excellent, fast speed and reliable. The flat has everything you need and the hosts go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. There was home made bread and granola (delicious!) in the flat waiting for us, together with different teas, coffee and milk. It's very easy to take the ferry and cross over to the mainland to go for a special dinner or to get groceries. Great places in town for that. Enjoy watching koalas and kangaroos around you and the very abundant bird life. The swans and pelicans are always in the lake and there's a couple of very friendly crimson rosellas that come and tap on the kitchen window to see if they can get your attention. There is a bird bath strategically placed in front of the kitchen window so you can watch the birds while you are having breakfast. The bedrooms are upstairs and the windows can be easily opened, something we appreciate as we have been in many places where this is not possible. We will definitely spend some time in this place again.

We stayed 2 nights in the Garden Cottage at Swan Cove Beachfront at $200+/night. The cottage is part of the main house on waterfront acreage about 4 kms up a mostly gravel road from the ferry. The cottage is fairly spacious with a small entry lobby cum lounge & a small but very well equipped kitchen cum diner. Off the kitchen is a 2m x 2m bathroom which has the smallest shower cubicle we have ever experienced in Australia (but did have a smaller one in Italy!) The narrow tread steep stairs to the 2 bedrooms would be prohibitive for less nimble folk. Whilst downstairs has aircon, it doesn't cool the upstairs bedrooms and on our hot arrival day the main bedroom was stifling. There is no ceiling fan but a pedestal fan which helps, and by bedtime the room was cooler. What didn't fit well for us was the very old fashioned, dark decor style accommodation which was not to our taste - we felt it's in desperate need of some lighter tones and a freshen up & modernisation. On the PLUS side Tony & Kirsten are lovely generous interactive hosts who open themselves, their home, their sustainable lifestyle and their garden up to guests in the lovliest way. We respected that greatly. We had delicious breakfast supplies provided - fresh eggs, Tony's sourdough bread, fruit, home made Granola & lovely jams. As a bonus Tony kindly gave us a cup of his just made tomato relish which was delicious. The property fronts the lake & has outdoor dining options, and a sundowner beverage by the lake is lovely. There are many guest toys available, and the lake's teaming with fish for those inclined to try their luck. Swimming in the lake is 'refreshing' but great, as are the many walks Raymond Island is pristine wilderness with the added bonus of 200 koalas living in the wild, so don't miss the wonderful Koala trail 4kms away where we photographed 18 Koalas in under an hour! Finally we must mention Casper the dog - what a lovely natured pup he was.

Dear Colin, Thank you for offering up this feedback and we are happy to hear you enjoyed the home made organic breakfast basket in the well equipped kitchen and the many outdoor dining options by the water. We are sorry you found the shower rather small. The cottages are European design when spaces were smaller. Be assured we have been doing a lot of research to ensure the bathroom renovations are the best possible with sustainable green options being included. Australian made and Award winning portable air-conditioner is arriving this week for the upstairs bedroom for times when the weather is un seasonally hot.

Absolutely immaculate and spotless fit-out; you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd leaped back in time. A warm, welcoming space with excellent hosts. Kirsten and Tony make you feel right at home, with sprawling gardens and private lakeside beach to explore by foot and by kayak (provided free by your hosts). There are an abundance of options for outdoor cooking/bbq and open fires - our son loved roasting marshmallows over his first outdoor fire (we chose to use the steel drum right on the sand, although there is a great fire pit further into the garden also - choices, choices!) A delicious homemade sourdough, avocado, other provisions and eggs from the resident chooks await upon arrival for a beautiful first breakfast - you really do feel comfortable to make the space your own in peace and serenity. Would and do recommend a visit here - you won't be disappointed!

We loved our stay in this unique wonderful house, surrounded by a beautiful garden where red parrots flew. You could see kangaroos jumping around the house at dusk, which greatly attracted us. On the island, you can meet koalas that live there permanently and are part of the community. The whole place has left its original appearance, including furniture, wallpaper, and carpeting. Fascinating bathroom sink with two taps on opposite sides. Hot water flows to the left, and cold water flows to the right. It takes skill to mix the two waters. We had a lot of fun. It was a great new experience, and we are happy to recommend it to everyone.

If you are looking for a very interesting stay in a unique location, then this is for you. Kirsten is extremely helpful and was keen to ensure that our stay was all we hoped for. The trip over to the island by a short ferry ride was easy. We had a fantastic meal in a local restaurant that Kirsten recommended. Kirsten was happy to share her locally grown vegetables, home made bread, granola, condiments and jams. Do try them as they are delicious.

Our stayacation at Swan Cove was one of our best experiences at holiday homes across Aus with nature at the doorstep with the beautiful beach, wildlife, farm feel, a Tudor home & to top it all 2 wonderful hosts, Kirsten & Tony.
