We were here on 30 June 2024, the last day the publican who has run the pub for the last 10 years, was running the pub. We have no idea what the new owners will do to the place, the menu, etc. We were there because a family member was playing in a band that evening. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and they did a great job of clearing plates and glasses from tables. They have a decent wine list and good choice of beers. We had the house specialty Cuban pork ribs. They were very tender and tasty but could have used a bit more marinade or bbq sauce. I asked for more sauce but was told it was all used for the marinade. Some should be reserved for serving on the side. The lamb rogan josh with rice and veggies was pretty good but the lamb was a bit tough. Maybe the new owners will tweak the recipes. All in all we had a good time here. It’s the only pub in town!

Simple decor, staff service was very friendly and food delivery prompt. My other half ordered Calamari and was very happy. I opted to try the recommended Fajitas and went for the prawns option. Out came a plate with guacamole, salsa, lettuce, and cheese on a bed of rice with the Fajitas tucked away in a separate container. Then came the juicy prawns slightly spiced with chilli on a sizzling grill with onion and capsicum. Absolutely delicious - compliments to the chef!

There really are fabulous ocean views, however the service was awful, we ordered four gummy flake and chips. Two arrived and were almost finished by the time the other two were served. The error was not the kitchens but the bar staff who placed our order and offered no apology. The fish was very good, but not the most welcoming of bars.

My family came here today as we were at the Kilcunder Lobster festival, meals we ordered were, chicken Parma chips and salad, battered flat head fillets, chips and salad, and the kids spaghetti linguine. First of all the bar staff were attentive, and friendly especially Riley. Food came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere was great! I love the new management and what they have done with the place! Our food, my son who orders a parma everywhere we go, and we eat out alot, said it was his top two parmas! The ham was smoked, perfect amount of cheese and cooked perfectly. Chicken was soft and juicy yet the crumb was nice and crispy! Best linguine we have ever had full of flavour. After telling the wait staff how impressed we were thwy said the nap sauce is home made. I could tell the difference it was full of flavour. The flatty fillets were fresh and with a beautiful light batter. The homemade tartar sauce was fresh and complemented the fish perfectly! Thanks guys we will be back! Congratulations to the new management! What an improvement

What a great find. Very good and welcoming service.
Highly recommend the pork ribs and beef madras. Vegetables were fresh.
Beers were perfectly clear LD and wine is also very drinkable.
The chef seriously knows how to cook slow-cooked meat.

Our bistro meals were very expensive for the amount of food on our plates. The chicken parmigiana was not even a quarter inch thick, some parts were thinner. A small amount of vegetables on the side and about 14 chips. Same with your local gummy flake. The batter was so thick is was soggy with fat. Unbeatable as is made you feel ill.

Booked into what we thought was the bistro only to be seated in the public par. Our table had the pool table one side, children’s play area on another and a pin ball machine on another side . The food we had was just average pub food but the prices were high. The food service was good but the bar service was very average.. We have been going to this Pub off and on for about 30 years and this experience was by far the worst over that time. In future we will make the trip to either Wonthaggi or the Island were the offerings are much better.

We visited the Kilcunda hotel for a nice cold drink after q big walk along the coast. We got a seat on balcony facing the ocean. Really tranquil setting and we found ourselves relaxing and unwinding. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The young teenage waiter was super friendly and great asset to the hotel. We stayed and shared an entree and was very nice and served quickly. Would recommend it to anyone visiting the area and very close walk to old railway bridge for spectacular photos.

Some tables have some good views of the ocean. The better tables are outside. The food is typical pub food and also tasty and good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly with adhering to the Covid guidelines. There's also a small car park out the back.
