Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Charming interior, historic pics/photos on the walls, the decorations add lots of character. Welcoming staff and prompt service. Drink prices were cheap, meals were on the pricey side with Parma/schnitty’s at $30. However, Large serving for full size with a huge amount of topping served with chips and salad. The half serving beef schnitty was smaller than I expected, however the perfect size for me and the mushroom gravy was very Tasty. Highly recommend a visit. There are log cabins out the back and also a campsite right along a charming river for accommodation.

Stayed one night in a log cabin with a lot of dusty charm, next to the hotel. It had a queen sized bed and 6 single bunks made out of rough wood. The cabin was warm at night once you turn on the electric blanket, room heater and air con. Seating area consisted of a wooden table & bench seats. Kitchen area was a narrow slab of wood attached to the log wall with a power board for the kettle and toaster. No microwave. Crockery was in a plastic tub on the table. It had a baby sized fridge. Ceilings were corrugated iron and there was a verandah on 2 sides. You could park next to the cabin. We had drinks and a meal at the hotel near the wood fireplace. The staff and the locals were friendly, food was great, drinks were good but a little overpriced. The hotel walls and ceilings full of memorabilia and dusty rustic charm. The road north of the hotel starts off bitumen then gravel to the Great Alpine Road. Did not have a 4wd so had to carefully make our way between the rough parts. Could be impassable if wet or snowy.

We had been told that we had to go to the Dargo Hotel for lunch. So we did. We each had the burger with everything, not realising it would be so huge. We agreed that one burger would have done both of us. But it was very nice. The decor of the pub was typical of outback pubs that want the term "iconic" to be put in front of their name.

Stayed for weekend for friends birthday. We were booked in for all meals, yet the meals were overpriced, some barely edible, and very inconsistent. Staff are quite uninterested in working let alone giving customer service. Venue is in much need of maintenance. Friends paid for camping out the back and had to camp amongst the sheep and endless sheep poo. Not good enough for paid services. Log cabins need redoing of decks and ramps - very dangerous.

Stayed for a weekend with my dad in the motel in a triple room. Basic but had everything we needed. No complaints from us - other than it definitely tends to be on the expensive side for such basic accommodation. Would definitely say it’s a 3 star motel. Had dinner at the pub - had a great feed, staff were lovely and good to see them relaxed about all the restrictions. Such awesome history behind this pub - it’s a must do.

Arrived on the Tuesday after the Easter weekend and greeted by a member of staff that acted like they hated the job. Given the key to open the gate for the camp site an as we drove in there was a big sign by the bins saying “ don’t put your fuc***g rubbish in our bins”, it’s going well so far! Went to the bottom corner next to the river as only space available and the rubbish, human excrement etc was unbelievable, yes I picked it up to clear a site and had a bin liner full. There were also other piles of rubbish left around the site. The portable toilets and showers were also pretty disgusting. When we told the pub all I got was it was a busy weekend so tuff! There more about getting our key deposit back but all in all never again. Food and beer good in pub though and evening staff were nice and polite b

Loved the atmosphere here! The pub is a great quirky country pub with lovely people who work behind the bar and in the kitchen! There is an awesome outside area for drinks and dining! We absolutely loved our meals, the vegetarian burger was a ripper burger! Absolutely loved it. Defiantly go there and have a meal and see for yourself.

Haven’t been here for a few years but it is still as good as ever. True old pub with lots of character. Doesn’t get much more old traditional than this. Extremely friendly staff. Great pub food. Lots of accom choices including camping on the river for $10 pp a night. This gives access to great toilet and shower facilities. No complaints!
