Amazing resort in Sai Yok by the river. Was planning a trip to Kanchanaburi and saw a photo of the Pool Villa on FB and I knew we had to stay. We stayed 2 nights.

The location of the property is quite isolated from major tourist attractions in Kanchanaburi, however if you enjoy the quiet and private stay this is the perfect place for a retreat and relaxation.

They have 8 different types of rooms and the one we stayed in was the Pool Villa Raft. If you are travelling with your loved one or someone special, I recommend booking for this private Pool Villa.
You stay in a fully covered wooden bungalow on a raft on top of the river. The room is very well designed with all its features and full amenities. The bed faces towards the running river and a sliding door that leads outside to your private pool and sunbeds.

Upon staying in the Pool Villa Raft, you are welcomed with a Thai tea set and a complimentary bottle of Rose Champagne.
Dinner is served to you in your room, which is kindly prepared by the hotel staff who set up your outdoor table, creating a perfect riverside-like dining experience. Breakfast is also served in your room, placed in a large basket which the staff will nicely place floating on your pool. (Your breakfast choice and dining times are chosen when you check-in)
The food was exceptional. Breakfast is what you would expect from a regular hotel, but the Thai food for dinner was really delicious.

The staff at the hotel were somewhat friendly. I work in the hospitality industry, so I am accustomed to greet anyone especially hotel staff, but it seems like I would always have to greet them first before they greeted me, the guest. Until when I started giving tips, they seemed to greet me then.
Almost all of the staff do not speak a word of English, so I recommend for foreigners to pick up some basic Thai or have the google translate on your phone ready. Unlike other guests, I have no issue with that, as most of the staff are locals, but it just tells me that the management doesn't seem to be focused on acquiring foreign travelers, as most guests are Thai.
One thing that was really odd was that the front desk never once asked how was our stay or if we enjoyed the room, amenities etc. I was with my girlfriend, who is Thai, and she was also dumbfounded that they never asked how was our stay when she spoke with them. Not even a "we hope to see you again". The staff should be trained on these points.

Overall a very great experience, and I definitely recommend other travelers to stay here.

On a side note, if you are allergic to bees or do not like them, do not have breakfast on the pool. It seems like these bees have been going to the same spots at the same times for the last 10 years and know that food will always be there.

Nice place and easy to get there. There are lots of parking. The lobby is specious and open air. We stayed at standard raft THB 2,600 (incl. dinner, breakfast and rafting activity for 2 persons. This room type located at riverfront and every room provided hammock in front, separates toilet and shower room. Rafting activity schedule at 4 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm. Buffet dinner start from 6 pm to 9 pm, foods was tasty and varieties. Also breakfast start from 6.30 am till 10 am. Great experience, good service and will be back for next time.

Stayed 3 nights, the first night in “Deluxe Pool Access” and the following 2 nights in “Standard Raft”. The “Deluxe Pool Access room” at 4,500 Baht a night, was comparable to a “high standard room” in a town hotel, no better. It did have the big advantage of being able to enter the pool directly from the room’s balcony. The bathroom had only a shower in the bathtub which had a small shower screen but no shower curtain, hence the floor got soaked after each shower.
The Standard Raft at 2,500 Baht a night, was small and would have been OK if they had supplied a chair or two to sit inside or outside, and if the room had had a hook or two or a rail or two where clothes and towels could have been hung. There was just nothing available to hang anything; even towels had to be dried on the bed!
The food, breakfast and dinner was just about OK’ish but no more than that.

Ok let’s start with the positive as that list sadly will be short.

The rooms on the river are super cute with a nice hammock and subbed directly in front of your room. Laying and just listing to the river is peaceful. Also the the AC is brand new so when you are hot you just go back into your room.

Now the negative. There are zero amenities in the room, and mean zero. There isn’t even soap at the sink, only shower gel in the shower(another room). To further explain how empty the room is, there aren’t even a bottle opener in the room, that leads to the next problem.

Everything you need you have to rent. I needed a bottle opener and needed to pay 20THB as rent and 100THB deposits.
Also there aren’t an fridge in the room, and some ice plus an icebox costs... you guess it 20THB and 100THB deposit.

For a hotel that cost twice of any hotel in the area, 3000THB/night, I did expect some service and luxury.
The dinner was a substandard buffe that I would have rated a 2.

All above would have made this stay a 3 star. The view and relaxing feeling of nature all around you pulls the grade up. But next part pushes it down.

I visited during the COVID pandemic. A time where clear communication are important.
So we called a head to check that the hotel was open. What the failed to tell us was that yes the hotel was open, but all activities was closed.

If you plan to be open but close some parts of the hotel off. You need to tell your customers that! Especially while still charge full price as nothing has changed.

For this this price I expect service from staff, amenities in the room, and clear communication.

This was a 1000THB hotel experience, not 3000THB.

We booked the standard raft by the river directly with Wang Nok Kaew. We called and communicated via LINE App. The room cost 2,600 Baht and we paid half for the deposit. The views from the raft room were beautiful. The river rafting was about one hour and was good. The buffet dinner and breakfast were acceptable. The parking was adequate. The resort was well maintained and managed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Left Bangkok to go to Kanchanaburi for the weekend. We left with a car and it was a about four hours drive. We stopped at famous bridge that goes over the Mae Klong River and then its around 90km to go to Wang Nok Kaew Park View from there.

We stayed at one of the raft houses, the rooms were nice and clean and separate rooms for shower and WC.

Wang Nok Kaew Park View offers good selection of Thai food, a must is to test the fried fish!
The food is very good and very cheap. Also they offer very cheap full body massages that is very good!

Also every day you can leave to go on a trip to visit a waterfall and if you want to swim in the River. From Wang Nok Kaew Park View you can visit some caves and hot springs that is not to far away.

On the first day -I found that the shower did not work properly. the water heater did not work so I went to the receptionist at the counter and told her the problem
She said she will send someone to check but she can not provide the new room to replace as it was housefull. I said no problem and left the key with her

After 3 hours from the party - I went collect the key but she was not there. A man at the counter told me that he will change the room for me because the problem could not be fixed

I did not expect a new room but i do not understand why the first lady has to lie there was no room for me to change

Reviews & Opinions vary and each of us will have our own unique experiences when on vacation. Some positive and some, not so positive. We each have our own standards, some higher than others and we make our own vacations positive. Even when things don't live up to our expectations and turn out to be a total disappointment, it is your vacation, make the best of it, Why focus on the negative and create negative memories. For someone that has high standards, has high expectations, and wants to be pampered with service, I say, "We all do." We all work hard for our money and we all want to be treated like a VIP and feel special to the Resort, Restaurant, or Business we give our money to.

It is now, at this moment, in reading all these reviews, where you will make your final decision to choose this Resort or not. As an American, that would love to see more American's stay at this Resort, let me share my experiences at this property and review the Wang Not Kaew Park View Resort, Not to persuade you either way, but to give you all the details to make an informed decision to choose to stay here or not. I review a Resort, Restaurant, or Tour Company based on the 3P Principle ( Product + People + Process = Successful Business). My hopes in sharing an accurate and sometimes harsh and honest review, is to show Management or Ownership where they need to improve and to provide the Reader, the most accurate review to make an informed decision. Buyer be ware!! It is up to the individuals that read our reviews, to continue to pursue and decide, that the Wang Nok Kaew Park View Resort, is the right property for them.

Here's my 3P Principal of Observation:

#1.) Product = The Wang Nok Kaew Park View Resort is breathtaking. A very unique and different type of Resort. Situated on a cliff, that leads down to the river, the property is very beautifully landscaped with local tropical jungle vegetation and straight out of a movie set.

* Advice = Don't go cheap when staying here! Pay for the full experience! You are coming here for a reason. Being on the River, Right? Well, then, be on it! Splurge and reward yourself in one of the River Suites. From experience, a River Suite, is the only way to stay. Yes, you can stay on land and in a regular hotel style room, but why take away from the reason that you came. I would personally give this room a rating of 4 star quality. But, remember where you are. Not only are you in a remote area, but you are on the River :) The Suite, beautifully decorated in nice hardwood flooring, has a very comfortable cabin feel. Then you open the patio doors, to an experience, only being there can imagine. You feel the power of the River beneath your feet while walking on your own patio deck, that has your own Kayak, safety gear, large round lounge chair, and enough room to entertain a group of 8 -10. There is a very comfortable Queen bed with good quality and clean linens. The River Suite had a clean bathroom and Shower area and was actually better than expected.

* WIFI = Being a Businessman on vacation and having to communicate with Customers back home, it was so crucial and important to have good quality WIFI. And, the Resort did not disappoint here. Great quality and fast :)

* Golf Cart Service = For those that don't want to walk to their River Suite, and I believe this is offered to all the Resort Guests, you can call up a Golf Cart to take you around the property. Very convenient and even though it was nice to walk at times, it was good to know that we had this service.

* Resort Main Pool = Very relaxing with a wonderful view of the River. Loved it :)

* The Included Breakfast & Dinner = As mentioned in prior reviews, I would agree, that the Chef can provide a larger selection and choice of dishes. It has nothing to do with the quality Chef. The food was delicious that you made during our stay. More variety would be nice.

Overall, the Wang Nok Kaew Park View Resort has a great product. Other than the dining recommendation, I find it hard to imagine that anyone would be disappointed in being in such a unique and beautiful place. 5 Star Product Presentation.....,

#2.) People = Here is where there is a disconnect. I truly believe, that it is all about communication and understanding. First, the staff are mostly not Thai. They are from Myanmar and their culture is what it is. Maybe a little pissed at the world it may seem at times and you might think the Owner needs to either pay them better to smile and show them a higher standard of service to provide to the Guests. Repeat and Referral in Hospitality is huge. When you have a staff that does their job, but does not do it with gratitude and a smile, then that comes across to make the Guests feel unwelcome ;(

Advice = Starting with the Front Desk Staff, give them a raise. To be honest, they don't make you feel so welcome. This gives an immediate impression that the Guest made the wrong choice. The Owner or Resort Manager could give a daily briefing of expectations and boost moral. This carries over to the Dining Staff. Give them a raise too. Pay for smiles and not glares. Enough said here I think :)

#3.) Process = Since it takes people to carry out the policies and process, there could be improvements in this area. When a guest gets out to the Resort, help make arrangements for the Guests to see the surrounding areas. I know that individuals are coming to a remote area, but having a good quality Concierge Service, that is willing to make tour and excursion reservations, would be something that I would recommend to improve this part of the Resort Process. But, it starts with a friendly and smiling and accommodating staff to carry out the Process.

In saying all the above, I would personally stay at this property again and I personally would recommend it to all my family and friends. If the Owner or General Manager take this review to heart, then he/she will make the improvements mentioned above. To those Reading my review, I apologize for a small book on the property, but I wanted you to be informed. If you choose, choose wisely. My opinion is only that of a Guest staying in a River Raft Suite. Again, anything less is cheating yourself on a great experience. If you choose to stay at Wang Nok Kaew Park View Resort, you would be making a great decision, considering all the other reviews and my honesty about the areas of improvement.

Thank you to all of the Staff that showed me a great welcome and stay. I look forward to my return and seeing all of you again. Thank you to Management & the Owner for offering a great Product, with room for People Improvement, that will complete a successful 3P Principal Process.

Aloha,

Jonathon Benedict

I didn't expected this place to be very good after a long 4.5 hrs drive. Let me tell you,if you are looking to escape from the busy life ,this place is just for you. My family and I all together 11 people and rent 4 rooms. They room was super cozy and I couldn't believe how sturdy the rafts were. We didn't feel once scared or felt uncomfortable walking around. The water pressure and hot water were great. Wifi was super strong and free of charge. We paid 1300 baht per person per day which was included breakfast and dinner. Kinda buffet style if there have enough guests if not there will be food set that enough for all of you. The food wasn't as good as you wished but it was alright. Don't forget to bring some snacks and ice cooler fill with ice before you come. There is no 7-11 around.

The water current was pretty strong. I would be worry to travel with young kid. Although Lift jackets also provided. The highlight of this trip was wet rafting at 4 pm everyday. They took you to the waterfall with a lil cliff to jump. It was soooo much fun. I would def go back.

PS. you can contact the owner and the number is listed on the website.
