The room was large and very clean. No mini bar - no problem.
The bathroom was a good size. The hot water was plentiful and water pressure strong.
Check-in was easy with no problems. Parking was undercover, easy and plenty of it.
Breakfast was good - a fair choice.

We stayed at Taksila for 3 nights in the best of the standard rooms called GRAND DELUX something I think, 1400B per night nett incl. breakfast and wi-fi.
The suite we looked was better with a much better bathroom.
The room was complete with just about everything you could need, and had more in it than 5 star hotel rooms. It's not often you find plates, bowls and some utensils and a selection of perhaps 20 DVD's.
The hotel foyer is good and the staff are pleasant. The rooms are well furnished and the bed was comfortable.I believe the hotel is let down by the breakfast, especially for foreigners There is no fruit juice and no cereal except some star shaped things which I don't have a name for, and the coffee is not good.Thai people would probably find it adequate.
The other negative is the general cleanliness which is not good enough and by the state of the bathrooms. The bathroom was small and very badly constructed with no separate shower. The standard of the workmanship was very poor with grouted joints all black with mould and nothing fitting properly. The shower in the bath is at chest height and in the morning took about 20 minutes to run hot which ended up in a terrible waste of water.
We stayed at Maha Sarakham because there are no decent hotels in Kalasin but that meant we had a dangerous drive at night back to Maha.
But it's an OK place to stay especially in a suite.

Since there seems to be no other hotel in town, it is fortunate that the Taksila is a great, fresh place to stay. From the lobby on in, the guest is impressed with beautiful oriental woods, marble, and Thai textiles.

Room size is more than ample, everything is exquisitely clean, the shower is hot, and the air conditioning is cool. TV, fridge, water, safe, slippers - it's all here. The complimentary breakfast includes Thai traditional rice soup, fish, and local fresh fruits, as well as western standards.

Service is typically gracious. It would be nice if the advertised internet terminal in the lobby had actually worked, but you can't have everything. The adjoining gym has just been renovated - nicely.

Next time I'm in Isaan, this is the only place I'll spend that extravagant $20US.

One of the few well maintained hotels from the 1980’s (?) that represents Thai decor with its beautiful wood work, decorations and detail. The rooms are spacious with a couch, nice interior, flat screen TV, fridge and comfortable beds. The bathroom is old but has a nice bathtub with plenty of hot water. The free buffet breakfast was above the norm for the price. Amazing well trained friendly staff which is a nice change from most hotels in Isaan. The large swimming pool is walking distance to the “sister” hotel. There are showers and changing rooms at the pool. ( not an attractive pool but basic). A small shopping center with a grocery store is walking distance ( 2 blocks away).

A type of 25?30? year old convention hotel that has been neglected and is showing its age. The interior needs some TLC and the rooms need an upgrade. This hotel does have a swimming pool, restaurant and plenty of parking. It is in the center of town. Good price.

I arrived here after spending a night in a filthy road-side motel in rural Buriram - so the contrast with this hotel was complete. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Many facilities and cute but kitschy decorations in the room. 1350 baht is not cheap but worth it for me. Quick free wifi and BBC on cable; nice clean bed with feather pillows. Very happy, will be back. There are cheaper rooms too, starting at 600 in a building closer to the road. One minus: I painfully bumped my head 3 times when going to the bathroom. Intrigues me why rural hotel bathroom doors are always built at 1.80 - 1.85 m - lethal for tall people like me!

I stayed at the hotel only one night, so I really could not fully appreciate the place. It was generally OK, though cleaning could have been more thorough and sheets looked a little bit dubious, either. Another thing - when we decided to go for a drink, it appeared that they do not have a bar there and we were re-directed to another building, then to another and finally ended in a local beer garden. Breakfast was simple, but edible. And do not expect service to be fluent in English, but finally this does not matter that much - after some time you finally get what you want.

When i arrived with my partner for my recent 5 night stay at the Taksila Hotel Maha Sarakham,i was not expecting to walk into such a classy hotel, this hotel is all class,it has a fantastic well furnished reception area, but that is nothing until you are taken to your room, the rooms are superbly furnished, they are spotlesley clean, they have a big wide screen television,a dvd player with about 30 dvds provided, plenty of magazines to read,a well equiped mini bar with very reasonable prices, also they have an excellent reasonably priced laundry service,i had 7 pieces of clothing laundered for only 110 baht, also the rooms are excellent value for money, for the same standard of room in Bangkok you would pay at least double the money, the room division manager at Taksila Arundech Maltra was very efficient and polite as were his staff,i intend to return to Taksila this coming October, and i have no hesitataion in recomending this hotel as a great place to stay.

Beautiful Hotel. All i can say is that if your planning to stay at this hotel, book the Junior Suite,it is without doubt the most luxurious hotel room i have ever stayed in!! It is even better than the most expensive 'Grand Suite' which has it's own dining room( i know because we had a look).
The minibar is the cheapest i've ever seen in a hotel and the staff could not be more helpful.
There is no pool at the hotel, but that is about all that's missing. This is 5 star living for a 2 star price!! 1800 Baht for a Junior Suite and that includes breakfast!! Mahasarakham is approximately 1 and a half hours drive from Khon Kaen Airport.
